Thanks for pointing that out i've changed it now

Re: My Top 100 Boxers of All-Time Pound for Pound
Have my doubts that Gentelman Jim should be that high on the list
He was an inovator to be sure, but two losses to Jeffries should push him down, not to mention the loss to Sharkey

Re: My Top 100 Boxers of All-Time Pound for Pound
For a while I argued with Taeth about older fighters, but in a way I kind of agree with him, I think we do place older fighters on a pedestal. A fighter actually gets better the longer they've been retired. For me, Mayweather, Hopkins, even De La Hoya who I can't stand, are way too low on the list. Mayweather, whether you like or him not, is a rare talent. You just can't convince me that Sonny Liston should be ranked ahead of guys like Mayweather and Hopkins. Not in a million years. But opinions are opinions, I couldn't even come up with a top 100 list if I tried so CC. Interesting list overall.

Re: My Top 100 Boxers of All-Time Pound for Pound
I think Mayweather should be top 20 he is 5 weight champ and has beaten every divisions number 1 aswell as other good fighters.

CC.... totally agreed with what you said. We DO seem to place older fighters on a pedestal. I'd also like to add the following: I also agree that coming up with any kind of top 100 p4p list is no easy task. I know I couldn't do it. But I do think that all top p4p lists that I've seen tend to favor one nationality or region. I've yet to see a list that treats all parts of the world equally. If it's a British poster, the list is chock-full of British fighters. If he's from the U.S., same there. For once I'd like to see a list that treats all countries equally, for there has been incredible talent come out of other countries, as well.

Re: My Top 100 Boxers of All-Time Pound for Pound
Your list fucking sucks. Where the fuck are Julio Cesar Chavez, Wilfredo Gomez, Terry Norris at? Erik Morales? Marco Antonio Barrera? Edwin Rosario?
-
Re: My Top 100 Boxers of All-Time Pound for Pound
Cool Click, Shaw
A top 100 is a daunting task for most of us and you deserve props for putting yours out there for all to see. Who can scoff at an effort that many (including myself) would never attempt?
You're list looks good to me.

Yeah, Chavez should be there.
Pay no mind to that Morales tirade, Shaw. Kid Diamond would be a better addition. hehe

Re: My Top 100 Boxers of All-Time Pound for Pound
Emile Griffith should be closed towards the top 20 not in the 30's.
Good list though. Hats off for making it ;D

Re: My Top 100 Boxers of All-Time Pound for Pound
Ok, here is my question to all you people who make these top p4p lists. How can you guys rank guys like Henry Armstrong, Sandy Saddler, Willie Pep, ect ect ect, SO HIGH when you may have seen only 2 or 3 of their fights (or, in many cases, none at all). What is the justification for having these guys so high? Do you rank them based on online and newspaper articles written about them? I don't understand it really...
-
Re: My Top 100 Boxers of All-Time Pound for Pound
This list is too biased to older fighters.

That's a damn good question. Armstrong, Saddler and Pep are one thing. I want to know how many times the poster who made this list saw Eder Jofre, Joe Jeanette, George Dixon, Tommy Loughran and Jim Driscoll fight, that he's able to rank them?

Re: My Top 100 Boxers of All-Time Pound for Pound
A top 100 p4p list isn't an easy endeavour. I commend him making an attempt even if it isn't perfect.
I understand what you guys are saying about it being flawed, but we don't know what research he did or didn't do to formulate his list.
Is there footage of Ray Robinson's early fights floating around in cyberspace? If there is I haven't seen it. Still, I know he is quite possibly the greatest welter this world has known.
Knowledge was passed down from person to person long before pictures and film were available.

That is no excuse for leaving Julio Cesar Chavez out. His omission makes the list a joke.

You're on your own Shaw.

Re: My Top 100 Boxers of All-Time Pound for Pound
He probably just slipped his mind. Thats a lot of names to write down.... Duilio Loi should be high on the list though imo and I dont see his name otherwise Shaw deserves some credit. Nice work man.

Re: My Top 100 Boxers of All-Time Pound for Pound
I like Greb up there. I might have put him in a tie for first.

I think that any man who can hold titles in three weight classes at the same time really needs no building up. Also I think that you look at the competition they beat.
I wasn't alive when Linclon was president but no one has to convince me he was a good one :-\

Re: My Top 100 Boxers of All-Time Pound for Pound
Props for even trying to make a top 100 list. One thing u might want to consider. Your list will never be the same as someone elses. It's going to be picked apart by alot of people (something that I'm sure that ur aware of since u made it a thread). Don't sweat it.
As for my observation. To be honest I quit reading after I saw Terry McGovern & Jimmy Wilde rated better than Rocky Marciano (obviously I disagree in a big way). I also saw where some others had posted that Chavez was not on the list. I absolutely beleive that he should be.
To be fair I am going to go back & read the rest. Hey, it's ur opininon & like I said--Props to u for taking time out to prepare a list in the first place.

IMO #48 Pascual Perez has no business on the list. The Mike Tyson of his last few years may be easy to dismiss as a #100 but I beleive that he should be lower (better) because of his accomplishments/impact on history (youngest HW champ). Bob Foster is better than a #72. #83 Jimmy Barry ?
I am not gonna sit here & drive myself crazy re-arranging ur whole list in my head so there's just a couple of my opinions. The more I look at this list the more vexed I become.

He has beaten every division's top fighter? Stop posting please. He beat the top 130 pounders and the top 135 pounders, he has beaten no top fighter of a particular division since then. He is top 40 IMO, but not top 20.

They are ranked based on their resumes obviously, as should be the top criteria for rating fighters. Duh!

Dempsey too high
Hagler too low
Monzon too low
Griffith too low
Gavilan too low
Mayweather too low
Sanchez too low
