Joe needs to build a legacy by beating the top fighters himself not by hoping his victims can go on to do pretty well.
It probably would, But the facts are Lacy was overrated. He's one-dimensional, has no defense and he's not going to improve. Lacy was handed his title on a silver platter (all he had to do was beat Syd Vanderpool). He never beat a champion for it. Lacy has already peaked. He will not get any better than he already is. Calzaghe win over Lacy was good for him. But in reality it wasn't much. Go beat Kessler, than Calzaghe legacy will be alright.
I think if Lacy came back he could beat a few reasonable names and he wouldnt look so bad.
I can't see Lacy comming back strong. THe division is so much stronger than the one he came up in.
No cause Joe ruined him
living in a dream world..??Quote:

lacy is stil regarded as a top 5 fighter easely, so wouldnt exactly be a surprise if he beat other contenders..
but lacy wont dominate the division, a prospect like bute will in a couple of years be far out of reach and kessler already is.. mundine has the style, that would give lacy fits.. inkin and froch i havent seen, so would be unknowns..
but for the sake of giving your argument a thought, if lace went on, won a couple of belts, then of course it would do calzaghes legacy good, but it would still be missing 1 or 2 big name and fame fighters
You can't rely on your fallen foes to do your dirty work for you, big fights have to be made for Calzaghe's sake.
Unfortunately, Frank Warren is his promoter.
Not really. That win is never going to get bigger then what it was that night and what it is now. Look back at the end of 2005, guarantee you that Calzaghe - Lacy is the fight everyone wanted more then anything. It just was. It was a huge fight, the atmosphere that night was electric and Joe put on a great performance. Maybe when it's all said and done the fight won't look big on paper, but it was.
However, as an ardent Lacy supporter, he is still young and while he has had a run of bad luck, I think he gives anyone at 168 or 175 a serious run for their money. And I have little doubt he'll be a champion again.
i understand what your saying eagle but i think the boxing lesson joe gave lacy should be enough.
Trust me lacy has had the 'fighter' well and truly beaten out of him and it showed after 5 rounds last time out when he (with the help of The judges) Mugged his way to victory.
Joe beat it out of him the same way Lewis did Tyson.
Forget Lacy he's finished ;)
I don't think Lacy has had the time or fights to prove what he has left so i am not gonna put him down until at least a couple more against good comp
Your never the same mentally after a 12 round beating like that ;)
Jeff looked pretty good v Tsypsko before he damaged his shoulder. I expect him to come back but will he have recovered mentally? And I'm sure Lacy is in his thirties? Also,in the short period of time he has been absent, things have moved on. I used to favour him over Kessler but now I am not so sure. Then there are gys like Inkin,Froch,Mundine etc.
I think he's 29 nowQuote:

He'd need to be torn down and rebuilt. Taught how to throw some straight punches and move his head in addition to learning to set up his hooks so its not so obvious. It seems like everyones in such a rush to get him back to where he was before people forget who he is, that they wont take the time to do it right and make him better and rid him of some bad habits.
see where your coming from, but the truth is the only one who should be responsible for joes legecy now is joe...Quote:

Lets put my theroy to test..
VD, (hyperthetical ofc befor eu say it wont happen etc..)
But if, joe was to take out kessler, taylor hopkins or wright and maybe a chad dawson with a fight in the states, what would your opinion be then?
Joe would be the fucking man.Quote:

hes overrated now, like just most other boxers in the entire world...Quote:

Possibly but it wont matter if Joe doesnt go on and fight 2/3 world class fighters. But i doubt Lacy does, i feel he is ruined and his in activity could also hinder a good comeback.Quote:

Let's say he wins last three fights against Kessler, Jean Pascal and Taylor, would that satisfy you, or leave you thinking there was always a little bit more in him?
i wasn't saying he should fight taylor hopkins and wright, i meant Taylor or the winner of hopkins v wright and finish it off with chad dawson at LHW... three fights, 3 big names, clean out his devisiona nd beat the future of LHW... very realisticaly done too...Quote:

Lacy will get knocked out if he faces a moving puncher like Froch, Kessler or even Berriro.
