COLOGNE, Germany (AP) -- Wladimir Klitschko fought most of his title bout against Lamon Brewster with a broken left hand.
Assistant trainer Jamen Ali Bashir told The Associated Press Sunday that the heavyweight champion broke his middle finger during his technical knockout of Lamon Brewster Saturday night.

Klitschko iced his hand immediately after the match, and is now wearing a cast from his left hand up past his elbow, Bashir said before boarding an airplane at the Cologne airport.
"It will take eight weeks to heal," Bashir said.

I think there is no escaping the fact that Wlad is developing into one of the most dangerous heavyweights of all time. Certainly there has been nobody like him since Lennox Lewis and he's certainly the number 1 heavyweight out there by a country mile.
I hope he gets a chance to make some defining fights because imo he's on track to become one of the Top 20 of all time.
It's a shame his era is so weak as he really could prove himself to be as good as Lennox one day.
I like him, a rare white champion, whose always polite and respectful, is a great ambasador for the sport and whose an exciting fighter to watch.

That was more because of Brewster's unwilliness to go for it and force his way inside imo. Wlad's fights with Peter and Byrd were both exciting. He can't help it if he's simply able to dominate fighters with his jab.
He needs better opposition for sure but he's doing everything right.

Re: KLITSCHKO BROKE HIS LEFT HAND
I like wlad, shame really there wont is no sign of im unifying anytime soon, with The WBC tied up for the next 2 fights, as well as the winner of the unification fight will most likely have to make a mandatory as well most likely that being tied up for another 2 fights;/

Re: KLITSCHKO BROKE HIS LEFT HAND
Fire I've been reading your post and here's a big cc for ya :coolclick: and a :goodpost: peace out cuz
-
Re: KLITSCHKO BROKE HIS LEFT HAND
That's what happens when you are 6'6'' tall and can't or don't want to use other physical/technical resources, abuses with the left jab and then breaks hands, breaks his opponents defense and gets away from other sort of challenges, heal fast Wlad

I really like his style, but to be fair all he threw was his jab pretty much, but I love the jab.

thats true, but after all thats over there will be a chance for a unification, as donk king will no longer have a HW champ and sultan is willing to fight wladimir, i think chagaev would fight him also, and peter would certainly fight him, but vitali will take the belt from him ;)

Hey he didn't complain about it...he's been cleared for MONTHS to fight Wladimir, he knew he was going to get hit.
As for Wlad's hand, he didn't complain about it and as hard as he punches I am not surprised
-
Re: KLITSCHKO BROKE HIS LEFT HAND
I broke my hand while punching somebody. It didn't hurt at all... So much adrenaline, that when I see Gatti wince in pain it makes me think he's exaggerating his pain for the camera. But that's my opinion.

Re: KLITSCHKO BROKE HIS LEFT HAND
We don't expect Mayweather to stand in the pocket and trade with anyone so why would you want Wladimir to do the same....they both fight to the advantages of their skills and to hide any weaknesses.
And before you get on me abotu Floyd (AGAIN)....I just want the guy to throw more punches is all. Wlad threw a ton and yeah most were jabs but have you seen anyone THAT dominant with the jab since Larry Holmes??? Wlad would have KO'd a lesser man with that jab
-
Re: KLITSCHKO BROKE HIS LEFT HAND
i thought he just broke a finger not his hand?

Thats what I heard. It was his middle finger. It might be why he started throwing his right a little more toward the end . He is increadibly acurate.

Brewster said that, but he probably plans on boxing again so he's got to say it. If you compare his performance with the first fight it's obvious that there was a severe problem with his sight.

Your damn right I'll bring up Floyd till your eyes bleed ;D You are hypocytical thats all, and take offense when someone dissects your big Ukranian girlfriend :P when Floyd played it safe against 1 fighter in his whole gotdam career, and has beat better and more dangerous fighters than Wlad has compareitively speaking, also Floyd hasnt been sparked out 3 times by no name bums and overachievers like Wladdy has... Floyd dosent clinch and flop around like a sissy and never has tasted the canvas(unless your counting the knee he took when he broke his hand)
Again barring the Baldomir fight, Floyd has held his ground and exchanges along with being an outstanding and stellar performer...
-
Re: KLITSCHKO BROKE HIS LEFT HAND
Wlad doesn't call himself THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME which tells me I shouldn't compare him to the likes of Ray Robinson, Ray Leonard, and Roberto Duran.
Floyd Mayweather Jr has fought some dangerous guys but not in a dangerous way, you bring up Wlad clinching.....well how about Floyd RUNNING he's ALWAYS on his bicycle!
Floyd is very good no one questions that but the way he fights doesn't match the way he talks at least in my opinion
What does Wlad have to do to impress you? And if you say nothing then it's obvious you are a hater.
-
Re: KLITSCHKO BROKE HIS LEFT HAND
BTW Wlad broke his middle finger on his left hand and he says it's no big deal, his hands usually hurt after fights
-
Re: KLITSCHKO BROKE HIS LEFT HAND

So now we listen to an athlete self promoting all of a sudden and take it as bible... He is 30 friggin years old and far from retired(were you fooled in to thinking that?) so his career is far from over... From a skill and talent level, I honest believe he is one of the best to lace them up, we shall see in a few years if he can apply those qualities and finish up as a top 5 ever

Find me a fight besides Baldomir that he let his foot off the gas and coasted only after he was gonna be the dominant winner. and had an  over 10 million dollar pay day waiting for him in his next fight?

As far as Floyd go's I value the man he is in the ring not out of the ring... Floyd backs up his talk and keeps WINNING!!!! your certainly entitled to your opinion, but dont shite on oter fighters and then get pissed off and whine treason when someone dosent kiss your heros azz...
your 1 weak arguement is that he runs constantly, when indeed the fact is he let his foot of the gas in 1 fight in his illustrious career, thats FACT JACK!!!!! and cant be spun anyother way.

He can start by ask Manny for his manhood and ballz back. He is the most conservative and tentative heavyweight champ we have seen besides Ruiz.. Again hardly the qualities I root for and appreciate in the #1 Heavyweight in the world. stop trying to slow dance with every fighter that is closer than an arms length from him like he was at the prom

In Floyds defense(not a big Floyd fan,but still) you expect the lighter weight classes to be up on their bikes, slugging thugs like Vinny Paz are rare.
And if you remember Camacho more or less schooled him from the ropes
-
Re: KLITSCHKO BROKE HIS LEFT HAND
Wlad does nothing different than any other great heavyweight champion.
JT you're pissed because Mike Tyson isn't around anymore and his era was WEAKER than this era...the heavyweight division didn't get good until Holyfield and Lewis got there and by then Mike Tyson was a BUM

Re: KLITSCHKO BROKE HIS LEFT HAND
I like Klitschko, and am not a huge fan of Floyd(his mouth not his skills)
With Floyd asking him to go toe to toe,is to A) Ask him to toss his biggest asset, and B)Ask him to not fight like a typical Welterweight
Asking Klitschko to get in there and mix it up is asking him to A) USE his biggest asset, his power and B) Fight like a typical heavyweight
Vitali's much better at keeping busy, and look at his KO ratio
There really needs to be a SuperHeavy division,so people know to expect these 2 punch at a time fights

 Why would I be pissed ??? Evander Holyfield is my alltime favorite fighter  ;) sure I like Mike, but never favored him over Evander... I just feel a prime Mike could beat an alltime great Heavy on any given night Marciano, Frazier, Foreman, Ali etc... you are too damn funny... Like your trying to hurt my feelings by calling Tyson a bum when he would tear Wlad to pieces. So if Mike is a bum, than Wlad must be  a Hobo living under a bridge  ;D

Re: KLITSCHKO BROKE HIS LEFT HAND
Wlad couldn't have fought that bad... he did end a courageous career in Brewster.
