Is it just me who thinks that Mayorga takes it a bit to far with trash talking...

It won't be the last time they'll go at it. And Mayorga's trash talking is hilarious. The best line was was before the Vernon Forrest rematch when he said Forrest had just recently disrespected. "Fathers day just passed and he didn't sent me a fathers day card"

I think too many people take Mayorga too seriously.
They get all hurt and all, but he's just a man, who cares what he says. For the most part, I think he's funny.

Mayorga has one of the best talking games today, the thing that's even funnier is that as of late he hasn't been backing up much of it, and i see the fight with Vargas most likely ending up the same, i know that Vargas has said that this is last fight, win lose or draw, so i'm rooting for Vargas and hope he can go off with a good fight, and a win

I'm not shocked by this.

It's just hype. How the hell else do you sell a fight between two has-beens.

Mayorga does what he does amazingly well and has a wicked sense of humour, something we saw when he kept a straight face when he called DLH gay while dressed in a spangly matador outfit.

I hope the cuts Mayorga suffered don't cause any postponements cause I wanna see these two go at it. The fight is already a few years later than I would have ideally wanted but I'm sure there'll be fireworks!

It's a long drop from 162 to 147. I think that will be a mistake. If anything he should stop @ 154! A Spinks rematch for example!

It's what you would have expected knowing these two. Predictions for the press conference alone were being considered, not to mention, many had anticipated their press conference more than the fight itself. It began once Ricardo Mayorga took the podium. The usual trash talk about his opponents mother and wife resumed as Vargas calmly took his shades off and showed his typical evil stare directly into Mayorga.

The two would trade a few verbal attacks, then Mayorga would lean over to smack Vargas. Vargas got right up and began to throw right hands to the head of Mayorga, 3 that clearly landed while wearing a huge ring on his right hand. The podium was quickly knocked over and all hell broke loose. Each of the fighters camps dove in to try and separate the two on the ground.

When Mayorga finally rose, he had two red cheeks and some blood on his right collar from Vargas' attack. Mayorga went ballistic, yelling obscenities at Vargas and his camp, finding anything he could throw in their direction. Vargas then took of his shirt after throwing his jacked at Mayorga who used it to wipe the blood from his right cheek.

Vargas would have the last laugh as Mayorga was escorted out of the room as Vargas took the podium while very relaxed, even laughing "They should've sold tickets to this."

HAHAHAH!!! I knew it was gonna be the press confrence from hell....they should've had the officials wearing riot gear. I predicted earlier that the press confrence will probably be better than the fight...we shall see.

Mayorga is a comedy and entertainment genious.

Love him or hate him Mayorga always creates a buzz & does his part puttin a**es in the seats. If all fighters acted like him it would be terrible. But if he or even a few act like him it's good for boxing IMO. Bringin attention/excitement to the game. Stirring things up.

He's doin his best to stay a commodity in the game. I actually give him props for it. Not many guys can have so many holes in there game & be able to continuously get themselves into the big fights. After this fight 3 out of his last 4= vs Tito (Loss), Oscar (Loss), & Vargas (?). Not to bad for the ol' bank account $.

I got Vargas stopping Mayorga in the middle rounds.

I "was" a die hard Vargas fan for quite a long time...I always left with a lot of egg on my face after his losses...I really don't think he has much left in his tank...But Mayorga is in the exact same boat (IMO)...so this should pan out to be a pretty good fight... It'll end in a TKO for either fighter within 5 rds...Good stuff!!
