He should not fight again. He is shot. He just can't mount an offence anymore.

One has to get his news from somewhere but they will still get on you about this post.Quote:

He did. So long Arturo Gatti we loved watching your fights.Quote:

LMAO!
Gatti was in la-la land. He did not even know the fight was over. LOL
At least Contender Gomez can get past a shot out fighter and do it with fashion. Alfonso did what he had to do but this division is smoking. I don't see him doing much more here.
gatti never learned to keep his left hand up after he jabbed.....
his "boxing" style was always flawed.....
Gatt is thru, thats for sure. Tuff to watch Gomez beat him to the punch over and over again like that, but he's shot, its all over. He was one hell of a fighter though, Gatti left boxing fans with a lot of memories.
I say him and Ward should start up their own grand prix go-kart racing circuit, all the drivers could be former fighters. You could have Chavez Sr., Ray Leonard, Duran(have to get a two seater for him), Tito Trinidad, Vinny Paz, it'd be great.
Last man standing go-kart race.
Im just worried he will end up like Freddie Roach or Ali....Punch drunk the man never knows when to quit but thats what made him loved and amdmired by many fans he is the pefrect example of what it would have been like to watch a Harry Greb or some one like that. I will miss his fights and his heart.
Gomez put up a good performance he maybe going places. It's sad to see a guy like Gatti go down like that. I'll miss him too.
I'm afraid Gatti was done a long time ago, just nobody told HBO.
They knew alright they just convinced his fans they didn't ;)Quote:

i was also gutted watching this fight. He was a shadow of his former self. Woould also like tosay that the ref was shocking and should have stepped in well before the final punch was thrown.
It was horrible to see Gatti in such a state, he is such a legend who has giving me so much excitement with his never say die attitude in fights especially the Ward trilogy. Im so glad he has at last decided to call it a day and retire. Thank you Gatti for being such a warrior & giving me so much excitement you will be missed!!
It felt like the objective in there was to get Gatti hurt. They chose a big strong hungry young bloke who can fight and has been mixing it with light middleweights and middleweights. Not only that he doesnt exactly hit like a freight train so Gatti was always going to take a lot of punches.
Hard to watch, even harder to figure out.
Yeah, but you would not want to have Naz, Chris Eubank or Amir Khan in it ....... imagine the crashes? ;DQuote:

Gomez was sharp and Gatti didn't have the power or boxing ability to keep Gomez off...The only time Gatti looked effective was when he got inside and pushed Gomez back which he only did for one round maybe...Gatti went into this fight with no game plan, couldn't adapt, got schooled and now his career is over which is good because he's been a shell of himself for a little while now...He always handled himself with class and style, he was great for the game and brought many new fans to boxing... I wish Arturro all the best in whatever his future holds...
Having just seen the fight now, Gatti has no real option other than to retire. It was sad and frustrating to see, but its a sight we see all too often with a warrior at the end of a career.
I only hope he doesnt have any more ideas about trying to go out on any high. Sadly, he has nothing left.
I thought Gatti should have gone after Mayweather took him apart a few years ago. It is a great shame that he has kept going on and we have to view fights like the on on sat - thanks for the memories Arturo!
The Ref was a PRICK
Anything gatti has done past 140 has been horrible.....sad cause i really liked this guy.
Gatti should have retired after the Baldomir fight like he said he was going to.
His trilogy vs. Ward will always be remembered as classic and should be
mandatory for any new boxing fan. Those days are long behing him though.
Gatti thank you for the fights, but please do retire.
...and make sure james toney is right behind you.Quote:

He took too much punishment. If it were any other fighter it would have been stopped sooner. It wasnt a war, it was a slaughter but I guess even the ref failed to see that he wasnt going to make a comeback in that fight. I just hope he is ok in the future, but I think he will be.
yeah hard luck Arturo you're the man. ;D
