Views on Khan after the Limond fight
WHAT A FIGHT 8)
He'll learn loads from that but where did the speed go? where was the superfast footwork?
I think he's trying to sit on his punches too much now and get the KO (he isn't a banger at all imo) which i don't agree with at all.
Khan did well to get up and turn this round but let's not get carried away as Limond can't punch for sh*t and if you stick Amir in with a banger he's licking the canvas early.
Future World Champ..? Doesn't look like it.
You can't train someone to have a granite chin ;)

Re: Views on Khan after the Limond fight
I dont think he was as hurt as it first appeared..
The way i saw it was not just that he was hit with a couple of good shots.. First his foot was tabgled in the ropes and he was hit with a good shot off balance.. and limond hit him with a couple of mean shots and his body weight was all over khan when he went down..
Notice he got up strait away and just looked bad on his feet..Imo he was worried sick that he would be stopped by the ref..Notice he pleaded to the ref and told him he was ok..
Did an ok job of getting out of the round but i think sheer nervousness fucked the round up for him after that debacle..
He can certainly work on defense.. and he'll get used to taking bigger shots as he goes on..I dont think he has been exposed for a terrible chin..Its not perfect but he'll get better
Certainly the case was..Its not the finished product..
But when the unfinished product gets in fights like that..Who cares ;D
Tell you something i saw from khan which we hadnt seen before..
He shit talked a little..Got a bit mad and really wanted to hurt limond.. If the fight had gone on i think we would have seen a brutal finish..
I would now like to Fwock off all these people saying he'll take a fight that he cant loose next..I want another step up and another dangerousn fight.. Thats boxing..Boxing is dangerous now give him a guy that wants to smash him..
Commentators made a good point though..He's becoming more of a man rather then a boy now..
Interesting stuff :) ;)

Re: Views on Khan after the Limond fight
He wont be getting no step up for his next fight...Warrens gonna be having nightmares about that fight for months
Can't wait to see where they take him now.
Could see some very funny names.

Re: Views on Khan after the Limond fight
Well it's only a matter of time before he's going for the British title and Thaxton, simply because the public and ITV will demand it so i expect this to happen at the tail end of his 6 fight deal. ;D
-
Re: Views on Khan after the Limond fight
Just to let you all know....Enzo is sticking with Khan/ITV as part of this deal too ;)
He's a clever fella is Warren ;)

Thaxton is a good ol chap..But lets be fair.. Any of us..ESPECIALLY! you smash..Would have said khan gets smashed by cook if they met.. And look what happened to poor cookie :-\
He showed some brit grit in that fight for sure.. Nobody likes a good body shot either
-
Re: Views on Khan after the Limond fight
Cookie went out on his shield but proved to be very limited and seemed to lack confidence i thought,he never seemed to go forward really and force the pace which he's known to do.
He's still only 26 and will be back for sure ;)
Thaxton will put Khan to sleep before midway (i'm now 100% convinced of that) ;)
I think he even struggles big time with Graham Earl!

Re: Views on Khan after the Limond fight
Cook couldn't seem to deal with the southpaw stance or the guys speed which stopped him landing his best shot. But he also seemed a bit flat. Showed serious guts though. Makes me wonder just how well he'd of done with harrison.
They made a great decision in putting that fight on ITV 4 and opting for the plodfest ::**

Re: Views on Khan after the Limond fight
once a glass jaw always a glass jaw, Khan struggled against body shots from a powder puff, not a good sign
-
Re: Views on Khan after the Limond fight
This is the worry...you can't instill a granite jaw in somebody or train it up ;)
-
Re: Views on Khan after the Limond fight
you can learn to ride punches better or try to keep it tucked in but you can't improve it.

Re: Views on Khan after the Limond fight
What worries me is, a growing lad and in the last 3 years hasnt put weight on from 17 to 20 thats strange
-
Re: Views on Khan after the Limond fight
Khan seems to look bigger every time we see him, it most be going somewhere then.

Re: Views on Khan after the Limond fight
I agree with Blake, erm, it's not a good sign that Khan got off the floor, as he shouldn't have been there in the first place! Limond isn't a noted puncher (and boxes part-time, where as Khan trains full time)! You lot are probably the SAME clowns that tipped Audley Harrison to be undisputed world champion (yea, go on deny it now)! And someone used Thomas Hearns and Khan's name in the same sentence, Khan could only be compared to Thomas Hearns NOW, i.e. old and punchy! The Thomas Hearns of the 80's hahaha don't be so stupid, AND Hearns could take quite a few punches, it was the accumulation that wore him down, NOT single shots!
I have always said that Khan is not and never will be world class! His next opponant is Doris from the bingo (although she may hit a bit to hard for him she has been practising with her bingo pens I hear)! I have said from day one that Khan is massively overrated and will do a Joe *duck duck* Calzaghe and Nasheem *christ where did that other car come from* Hamed and take safe fights, making millions and being adored for doing nothing exceptional! Is he really in the same league as Hatton? (I know they are differnet weight classes but im comparising like for like, before anyone comments)!

Re: Views on Khan after the Limond fight
I Thought it was a terrific fight, and Limond came prepared. Khan showed Bottle and that he wanted it. His problem is when thinking of what to do he switches off. Ive always found thats a sign of to much pad work pads dont hit back the defensive mechanism wont work as it should. His posture gives it away. But a good prospect he is, Limond isnt a mug, and Khan got hit with a good shot and came through.

Re: Views on Khan after the Limond fight
Scrap you think the team he has is the one to take him as far as he can go?
-
Re: Views on Khan after the Limond fight
Dont know the team as such, But make no mistake its a big job pscyhologicly and they dont seem phased by it. I remember what its like when everybodys trying to bring you down, theyve got to beleive as a unit what they are doing is right. At the moment they should be Happy so far a lot was leard Saturday use it.

Re: Views on Khan after the Limond fight
:) Khan v Limond was great TV, can only be good for future boxing on TV, when AMIR was decked he looked surprised, and this seemed to spur him on, he became more aggressive, on the front foot, intent on swarming all-over limond, untill he landed those heavy shots, and then the knock down, forceing the stopage in the interval, Khan would have learned a lot from this fight, regarding his defence, that needs a lot of work to tighten it up against a better class apposition ;)
-
Re: Views on Khan after the Limond fight
I think Khan just took a little while to Warm up in this fight....think after all people have been saying about him ..about his opposition and stuff khan wanted to knock limond out asap....obviusly he didint fight properly and after the knock down he looked in a different league to limond ...I dont think anyone can deny this.....If khan had started the fight like he looked after the knockdown....The fight would not have gone 4 rounds...in my opinion

Well said mate, CC. It was a very entertaining fight, and if there is one thing that Khan does bring, at whatever level opposition he's fought so far, is a bit of glamour and star quality. Hopefully the team behind him, mentioned by Scrap, can fulfill the task ahead of them in bringing Khan's head to the right place. Which is hidden behind his gloves.
