Margarito then proceeded to hint at shady play by Williams’ promoter “Dan Goossen must have a lot of power in this town but the fans saw the fight. Williams is the one that came out cut and I might have some bruises but my face is clean.”

To the idea of a rematch with Williams, Margarito stated “I feel I was robbed, I feel that I did enough to win so I would only want a rematch if Bob Arum promotes because I wouldn’t want to get robbed by Goossen again.” At this point Arum felt compelled to interject “we trust the decision of the judges as final and I think that it is unfair that Antonio is hinting that there was foul play.”

After a couple of more questions, Margarito bid a quick farewell but not before and impromptu roundtable interview was held with mostly Hispanic media. When Margarito was asked if he agreed with Arum’s last statement, he said “I feel Bob Arum should have defended me a little bit more regarding the decision.”

You cant argue with the decision really i had it 115-113 Willaims, but i think anyone would have trouble with Wiliams, 147 division is looking hot right now, id love to Clintron v Williams i think that would be fun.

I did think alot of willimas punche's were missing and hit his gloves, but i had williams winning that fight by 1 round...

My problem was with the shit willimas was allowed to get away with tho...

Booo fucking whoooo, He would have won if he had started about two rounds earlier.

He needs to STFU and fight. Excuses are his modes operandi. This guy always has an excuse. I had it 116-112 for Williams. I'm sick of Margarito. Adios amigo.

“I think the 12th round sealed the deal for me”, the ever polite Paul Williams stated regarding his dethroning of Tijuana, MX’s Antonio Margarito. The visually happy but reserved Williams proceeded to thank God, his promoter, his trainers and his management team as the catalysts for his victory over the “Tijuana Tornado”. When asked if he was nervous regarding the decision because of the closeness of some of the rounds and that fact that the fact was held in Margarito’s adopted home town, Williams said “I wasn’t nervous at about the decision; I think it was a fair decision and I beat him in his hometown which means a lot. Even though we both predicted knockouts, I knew it was going to be tough with the condition that we both brought.”

“Yes sir, I am ready for anything my team has in mind, I am ready for whatever, I’m just the fighter,” Williams answered when a rematch against Margarito was mentioned.

Before the new WBO welterweight champion took the podium his promoter Dan Goossen stated “I don’t think of any of the guys that have those other 147 lbs. belts are going to be excited to fight Paul Williams” regarding the upcoming plans for the flagship of his stable. “We want the biggest fight out there. We would like to step into the shoes of Margarito and go against Cotto. We want the biggest fights”.

As Antonio Margarito walked into the room followed by his team which included his wife, all dressed in matching Team Margarito track suits, his Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank took the opportunity to introduce his fighter “It was a great fight. Obviously I scored it for my guy but it was close enough to not deny the judges’ decision. Antonio is in the mix with Cotto. Margarito is a Top Rank fighter and we protect our fighters.”

Margarito lost, i wouldn't have minded if he said in the post-fight press conference he thought he won but didn't call it a robbery (a la Oscar De La Hoyaafter Mayweather.) At least then he is showing respect but still keeping an opinion. I could understand his frustration after the fight but to be still calling it a robbery is just stupid. He lost, i scored it 116-112 Williams. He just can't admitt that he wasn't good enough. If Margarito was on this site I would give him a :sadclick: >:mad >:mad >:mad

I had Margarito winning rounds 9, 10, and 11 only.

I thought the ref warning Williams for holding was BS and the springboard for a Margarito fix.

Margarito has been fighting at a snails pace and he was lucky to get passed an injured Clottey.

I did feel sorry for Margie because the "Paul Williams" advantage at that weight is sickening. I favor him against Mayweather and Cotto and would not blame either man if they ignored Paul "longreach" Williams.

Man i so glad that margarito lost..esp seeing as how he reacted afterwards...probably mad because he was exposed as a paper champ and proven to be all talk as no one was ducking him...he just wasn't worth the time....

Yeah, I think Margo got plainly outboxed. No robbery occured there.

Yes it was a boxing lesson. I figured it would be. One can't put too much into Tony's reaction, Margarito is very competitive , when your in the ring and pressing sometimes its hard to fathom you lost.. once Tony sits and watches fight footage he will see for himself.

Juts a lil bit, wacko? These guys wanna make us believe that we didn't see it, that we are dum or were high during a telecast... I don't understand, Tony lost a chance to make a lot of money with Cotto but he's the same guy who criticized ODLH for not doing much against a better opponent in Mayweather, hypocritical to say the least

Tony didn't work enough. He's crying like a woman for nothing because I don't think ANYBODY except himself thought that he even should have got a draw, much less a win. Tony's a fucking sore loser.

He has too much pride. If his coach doesn't change his mind, it'll hurt him in the long run.
It's just pride.... if he charged the ref and yelled at everybody like crazy..... then I'd complain.

yeah the holding was so bad Paul Williams threw 1000 punches....

He's just sore because he thinks he has lost the big bucks with a Cotto fight now unlikely.
A true champion comes back after a defeat and proves his worth all over again, he lost and that's that.
All he has to do is get in the ring and beat a top contender before the end of the year and that Cotto fight may still happen, at the moment Williams is the man.

I never been much of a Margarito fan. Never taught he deserved the praise he got. He fought well against Williams but lost. Even he knows it. What bothers him the most is that he never got that big pay day he was looking for. The loss will not help.

Margarito is a good pro , in an ideal world with only 1 champ in each division he would never have been world champion , i think that sums it all up :)

He is being a bit sore but alot of the ringside press thought he pulled away with a draw or won and obviously he was beating PW in the championship rounds so may be he got the impression he won.

I think it's silly to say he was being sore,B Hop whined after losing the first 6 or 7 v JT in both fights and Winky walked out of the ring and refused any interviews after his draw with JT which in no shape or form was a robbery so I don't see what the big deal is here. In fact,he has more justification for being sore,the prat just threw away a mega fight with Cotto. >:mad Idiot >:mad

I don't agree with alot of them,I had it 115-113 PW. Everyone scores fights differently and I guess from ringside,you have a different view,especially as they can see which of PW's punches were landing cleanly because Tony did block a load of them!
