Anyone Who Says Tyson Had No Chin Or No Heart Haven't Watched Ruddock Fights
Now im not biggest Tyson fan but i've seen people say Tyson had no chin ect in 2nd fight with Ruddock he showed great chin and heart the punches he took were incredible one uppercut knocked Tyson's mouthpiece out these were great fights were Tyson had to dig very deep especially in 2nd fight to pull out the win he was badly hurt in some parts and had to dig that little bit extra to win imo Tyson who fought Ruddock in first fight would of beat Douglas his body shots were freaking amazing the sound of them were incredible it actually made me cringe just watching it does anyone else agree ??

Re: Anyone Who Says Tyson Had No Chin Or No Heart Hasn't Watched Ruddock Fights
I'm not sure who told you Tyson had no chin, but whoever they are, they're idiots. Tyson has one of the best chins in recent heavyweight history.
In his KO losses to Douglas, Holyfield, and Lewis, he only went down after absorbing dozens of punches that would've knocked out anyone else.

Re: Anyone Who Says Tyson Had No Chin Or No Heart Hasn't Watched Ruddock Fights
Tyson in his prime had it, sometimes when someone gets into boxing towards the end of a fighters career they only see the losses, the downfall of the warrior. In time they may see the prime of the fighter and change their mind.

I agree he had pretty solid chin i don't know how he took that uppercut from Tony Tucker in first round that lifted Tyson off his feet incredible shot that was.

Tyson had a great chin, I dont know of anyone here ever saying otherwise?
Heart? Well thats up for debate. He might have shown heart on occasions, but then again Im sure Acelino Freitas has too, maybe not.

Re: Anyone Who Says Tyson Had No Chin Or No Heart Haven't Watched Ruddock Fights
Tyson always had a tremendous chin - he took some big one-off shots from Bonecrusher and Tucker, and his fights with Ruddock and Golota were punishing wars.
His losses to Douglas, Holyfield, Lewis and even Danny Williams came after he had taken a fearful beating in each case.
I think we as (sometimes) armchair fans - some of us who may never has actually stepped into the ring competitively - forget that you do not become the youngest world heavyweight champ in history, unify the title and conduct a reign of terror over the heavyweights without havuinga chin and some heart.
It was only later, when his life had fallen apart, when he fell out of love with boxing, and when his skills had diminished that his competitive fire led him to... shall we say... 'indiscretions.
There is lots of revisionism going on about Tyson ... I don't remember anyone saying any of these things when he was in his prime. At his peak, he ruled the hevyweights in a way we have not seen since Louis, he was an electrifying performer and I do (IMO anyway) think he would have been competitive against any heavyweight in history.

Re: Anyone Who Says Tyson Had No Chin Or No Heart Haven't Watched Ruddock Fights
Tyson had a good chin but no heart
in the ruddock fights the KEY thing was Tyson was winning.
any fight he was loosing he showed no heart.

Agreed in his prime he showed heart but in his later career he seemed to give up.

Re: Anyone Who Says Tyson Had No Chin Or No Heart Haven't Watched Ruddock Fights
I think true "heart" is sticking it out to the bitter end despite having zero chance of victory.
It is difficult for me to agree that Tyson had "heart" because when he needed it most it was nowhere to be found. Biting off ears in one fight and slumping to the canvas in disbelief in another isn't heart.

Isn't this exactly what his fight against Lewis was?

Well he did get TKO'd by Kevin McBride ;D
Nah, Tyson had a hell of a chin and only got dropped or wobbled by the best of punches and really when he was knocked down it was very seldom with one punch, you HAD to follow up.....which of course is why Frank Bruno lost to him

Re: Anyone Who Says Tyson Had No Chin Or No Heart Haven't Watched Ruddock Fights
I don't know whether Tyson had a chin.... but I saw his fight with Ruddock and one of Razor's shots took MY head off and I was home on the sofa. Mike, on the other hand, was still standing there. If I'd been Ruddock, I would've gone home right then and there.

bit of mind changing going on ay ICE ;D
prime tyson had a ton of heart, chin, determination and stamina
......im glad u appreciate the ruddock fights as much as i do! they were brutal wars

Re: Anyone Who Says Tyson Had No Chin Or No Heart Haven't Watched Ruddock Fights
The fights with Ruddock were when he was on the slide, he had less technique and it was you hit me and I hit you and we will see who is the last man standing. They said at the time that he was the oldest 24 year old in the world. There was another thread which said he avoided Foreman but he was taking a peak and dangerous fighter in Ruddock , who took the head off Dokes with that uppercut/left hook of his. Ruddock ended up with broken jaw and battered ribs and was never the same and Lewis finshed him off. Tyson would have stopped Ruddock if it was in his peak years.

No mate i just don't think he is unbeatable but i still think he had great chin to withstand them shots off Ruddock and yes they were great fights always enjoyable.

Re: Anyone Who Says Tyson Had No Chin Or No Heart Haven't Watched Ruddock Fights
Tyson always had a chin, his head was the problem...The problem I have with the Ruddock fights is that to me they clearly show how far Mike had slipped...In those fights a "B" level fighter like Ruddock was able to hit Mike all too often, gone was the tyson head movement...In Mike's prime Ruddock lasts 3 rounds maybe and we never have to see how good tyson's chin is, because Razor never hits him...

I think Mike was really sharp in first Ruddock fight with his body shots ect in 2nd fight for some reason he looked worse and he didn't go to the body as much.

Im with SweetPea on this one...Actually I don't know of anyone with real boxing knowledge that has said Tyson has no chin....Mike has never been KO'd easy....His loss to Douglas was an out of shape Tyson who in all reality KO'd Buster earlier in the fight but that was screwed up......Point is he took a lot of shots before falling.....
Same with Holyfield.....Took a lot of punishment before fight being stiopped....
Williams and McBride did not fight the real Mike Tyson they fought a shell of a guy who did not want to be in the ring...Mike wasn't even hurt in the McBride fight he just quit....
Mikes Chin during his prime is one of the best ever in any weight class
