Re: If there was one fight you could choose to have been at ringside for...
Castillo - Corrales I, hands down.
I wasn't born yet, but the Thrilla in Manila or the Rumble in the Jungle would've been great as well. Both were good fights and their historical significance makes them special fights.
Edit: Hagler - Hearns would've been one to see as well.

Re: If there was one fight you could choose to have been at ringside for...
Hatton-Castillo. I nearly fucking went. I'll regret not going for the rest of my life.
Same with tomorrows Cardiff bill. Had to fork out money for something and now I have no money for a ticket. I'm gee darned pissed!

Re: If there was one fight you could choose to have been at ringside for...
Hagler vs Hearns or Dwight Muhammad Qawi vs Evander Holyfield or Larry Holmes vs Ken Norton
theres quite a few but either of them 3 would be like a dream come true good topic by the way cc.

Re: If there was one fight you could choose to have been at ringside for...
Probably John L Sullivan against Kilrain for me. The last bareknuckle heavyweight title fight and it went on for 75 rounds so you certainly got your money's worth.
I've got a passion for history too and the historical significance of that fight really appeals to me.
I'd love to have some of Dempsey's fights too and Ray Robinson against Lamotta in the Valentines day massacre.

Well to be real honest with you I had the great fortune to sit ringisde for JLC vs. Corrales I.
I'm happy with that and I wouldn't trade it for ANY other fight. Someone told me once when I commented to him that I sat ringside for this fight and he shit his pant's. I told him I always wondered if I would ever attend a great fight never did I ever stop to think it would be that night. He responded with 'You do realize you can rest in peace now? I know people who have been going to fights all their life and they were never fortunate to witness something like that. These old guys talk about that fight along with Hagler-Hearns, Graziano-Zale'
I'll never forget that night.

Re: If there was one fight you could choose to have been at ringside for...
Barrera vs. Morales 1 or 3: so much has been already said about their fights, but for me it's the ultimate display of savagery, skill, and heart. It's was electric watching it on TV...so i cannot imagine being ringside.
Ali vs. Frazier 3: talk about war. It's amazing either of these fighters survived their epic trilogy (and most likely these fights did as much to bring on Ali's Parkinson's because of the brutal beatings). While the first fight at Madison Square Garden might have been one of the most publicized in history...their third fight in Manila is still the most awe-inspiring. Both guys where no longer in their primes...but fought one of the most brutal and exhausting fights we have ever seen. To be ringside in that humid heat in Manila...watching these two go for 14 rounds...must have been incredible. As Ali famously said: it was the closest to death he had ever come...nuff said.
Ali vs. Foreman: the fight itself was memorable...Ali beating an "unbeatable" Foreman using the rope a dope. But when you learn of all that happened leading up to the fight, fight itself taking place in Zaire, and the cultural influence that fight had (so well documented in "when we where kings")...it must have been surreal to be sitting ringside with thousand of delirious fans and nearly the entire nation of Zaire cheering Ali on.
Ali vs. Liston 1: the birth of a legend. I would have loved to be ringside to see the then Cassius Clay, near his absolute physical peak, shocking the world by beating another "unbeatable" in Liston. To see him dancing in the ring, shouting "I am the greatest!".
A lot of Ali fights for me...but hey...the man had a sense for the dramatics...combined with his personality...and the context of the social era he was fighting in....made for some classics.

ICB,
Where do you live?
If it's 1 thing I recommend it would be that you try your best to attend fight live. Even if it's one of the more lower tier fighters some of those fights are brutal.
For example the night I met Cotto was at a small card in a Youth Center gym where his brother was the main event. I didn't know he'd be there since he had a fight coming up during that time but alas he was there.

By then boxing will have given way to the real ultimate fighter, you have to earn your tribal tatoos by fighting animals like bears and tigers. Its all about cycles.

McGuigan/Pedroza

Re: If there was one fight you could choose to have been at ringside for...
Ali v Fraser 1 was an event, two undefeated heavyweight champions, really was the fight of the century. (Sinatra taking photographs). Also Zaire and Manilla would have been amazing too.
The only fight I have got off my seat was Benn v McClellan.
I was shocked at seeing Morales v Barrera 1, unbelievable action, but Hagler v Hearns was truly insane!
