HOPKINS WANTS CALZAGHE!!!! LETS GET IT ON!!

Hopkins wants Calzaghe next!

"I congratulate Winky Wright for being tough," said Bernard Hopkins after winning a twelve round unanimous decision on Saturday night in Las Vegas. "I hope the commission understands that I had to promote a good fight. I think it was a good action fight and I hope I don't have to pay $300,000 to prove that (referring to the amount withheld from his purse for pushing Wright at the weigh-in)....it was nothing but promotion, baby, nobody got hurt." As for future fights, Hopkins mentioned Joe Cazlaghe. "It has to be about something. It has to have a reason. I have to have a purpose before I get back in the ring." Promoter Oscar De La Hoya stated, "Bernard Hopkins has a lot of attractive opportunities as a light heavyweight. He wants to fight Calzaghe at Yankee Stadium in New York. If Bernard Hopkins wants Calzaghe, then it's our duty to go make that fight."

Lets hope Joe can beat Kessler then we have a huge fight on our hands in New York!!! Bring it on.

I'm out of the loop a bit, is the Calzaghe-Kessler fight definitely set? I mean, no doubt, contracts signed, all of that?

I kinda doubt that Joe will come to New York for the fight but could be wrong.

Im pretty certain this will be PPV on HBO so im certain Joe will travel, Joe aint as shy as people think when travelling, im certain he will get a few million from this fight even in the Usa, id say he will take this fight.

I think he wins it, but we know how craft BHop is.

For a while I was thinking Calzaghe was all wrong for Hopkins at this point because he's so active, that Bernard just couldn't keep up.

But I don't know, Hopkins is just so difficult to fight. Joe won't be able to throw as much as he usually does because of Hopkins's movement, holding, all of that. And he'll be pretty wide open for Hopkins right hand counters. I could see Joe getting very frustrated as the fight goes on, although even so Hopkins might just not do enough to get a decision.

Why? he already signed a contract once to do it, shit if your gunna doubt anything, doubt hopkins.. after all, this is what, the 10th time he said about calzaghe now without making it happen?

I doubt Hopkins will fight Calzaghe. What's the point? A Calzaghe fight would have no appeal coming off the Kessler lost

The question is will Hopkins want any part of Kessler?

Bernard Hopkins knows how styles will match up like no other fighter and knows full well who's going to win in November. He knows when Calzaghe beats up Kessler that all those New York Italians will coming running to buy tickets to embrace a real world class boxer as one of their own. I'm a Yankees fan too believe it or not from when I used to work in NY and was priviledged to see the last Yankees dynasty win four World Championships. This would be the last ever fight at Yankee Stadium as they're moving to a new one in 2009. The House That Ruth Built, with an incredible storied boxing history too. It'd be a huge moneyspinner for both boxers.

Nope. Hopkins wouldn't go near him with a barge poll.

He's targeting fellow old boys that are after a few final big paydays not young hungry ambitious guys with a future that will make their name through kicking his arse. Hopkins is a smart funker.

This would be a fight for both guys to sign off on. I reckon it will be an ugly war, clash of styles with lots of holding and that, both are clever and eexperienced on the inside. Still I'd love to see it.

The Calzaghe/ Kessler winner would be a great fight for Hopkins to target. If Hopkins can make 168 the both championships would be on the line! Hopkins could be the 1st to win 3 Ring championships at different weights!

Calzaghe is now getting repect from both sides of the pond. He always had it in england, but now with B-Hop calling him out ...AGAIN...I think this shows real respect for the Calzaghe.

This would be a great fight and it is a career defining fight that Calzaghe craves!!!

The problem with this fight (for Calzaghe) is that if he wins which i believe he will Calzaghe haters will say Hopkins was over the hill. If he looses well i don't wanna even think about that, the Calzaghe haters will have a field day.

Why would anybody say that after He knocks Joe out .LOL Just kidding . It seems to happen a lot in boxing though. I myself cant wait for Kessler vs Joe . I think this is the best looking fight this year . Im a big fat American fan of Joe's.LOL It says a lot to me that Joe took this (the toughest) fight he could take right now.

I think that Kessler is overrated only in that so many people think he has a chance against Calzaghe. Calzaghe is THE BEST at 168 without question. I've only seen Kessler fight the one time against Andrade and while Andrade didn't go down, I was impressed with Kessler's skill (Andrade just has a really really hard head).
