Oscar to fight Ricky Hatton
http://www.sportsnut.com.au/category.php?intid=7
Oscar De La Hoya plans to continue fighting and has targeted Britain's Ricky Hatton for a possible clash next year.
"There's been rumblings going on about it," said the Mexican-American multiple world champion, known as "Golden Boy", of a possible Hatton bout.
"I respect Ricky Hatton. He's a great fighter, he's a great guy. If that fight does get made, fans all over the world will be ecstatic. They will see a fight. Ricky Hatton comes to fight. And that's what I love. If we ever do it, it will be a heck of a show, that's for sure."
Hope this fight happens. I'm tipping Oscar. Bigger and a better puncher

Re: Oscar to fight Ricky Hatton
It'll be interesting to see if he's serious or if he's just bluffing.
There are a lot of rumors that Oscar is talking about a Hatton fight in order to mess up Hatton's negotiations with Floyd. That would push Floyd into a fight with Mosley, which is what Oscar wants, since Oscar promotes Shane, and a Mayweather-Mosley fight would make Golden Boy a lot of money.

Re: Oscar to fight Ricky Hatton
In other words, the plot thickens ???

Hatton would definitely have to move up in weight for that fight. Cause DLH ain't making 140! After he was talking about Floyd having to make 140. Would be huge though! If Oscar is trying to mess up Floyd/ Hatton then either way the fans win. Mayweather/ Mosley is still a great match-up!

Re: Oscar to fight Ricky Hatton
I'd be happy if this fight were to be made, although not as happy as if the Floyd fight were to be made.

He did so, I read it on Fightnews about 2 weeks ago. Saying that if he wants the fight he's gotta make 140!

Re: Oscar to fight Ricky Hatton
CC back Galaxy, no worries mate.
But his Father didn't say that either ;D It was a mistake.
Anyway...Oscar is to big for Hatton and would KO him.

Yeah sorry bro, didn't realize he only wanted Hatton at that weight! My bad!

Re: Oscar to fight Ricky Hatton
also don't forget, DLH has an advantage over Mayweather in talks of getting the fight, what advantage you may ask, well none other than Hatton's new best friend, and current goldenboy fighter, who will be taking on the #3 P4P fighter in the world, Marco Antonio Barrera. Don't tell me that Marco can't sway Hatton's decision in favor of his boss and promoter DLH, plus DLH/Hatton would put a lot more money in Hatton's pocket, although i'd give him less than a 10% chance in any form of winning, IMO De La Hoya destroys Hatton, and well it wont be pretty either
-
Re: Oscar to fight Ricky Hatton
It could have shades of DLH Gatti about it in terms of the difference in size.
Thre maybe the slimmest of chances if Oscar is practically a bag of bones at 147...but I'm grasping...
-
Re: Oscar to fight Ricky Hatton
well from what i've heard (i believe they even said it on HBO) that Oscar is walking around right now at about 155 or so, and he's never really out of shape (aside from the Sturm fight), so it's not really out of the question for him to get back into welterweight picture
-
Re: Oscar to fight Ricky Hatton
155!?!
Where's the info from?
-
Re: Oscar to fight Ricky Hatton
not really sure if that was the exact weight but i'm pretty sure that Larry Merchant said that DLH was walking around 150 something, and he said it on the Margarito/Williams card, i think at the end of the broadcast
-
Re: Oscar to fight Ricky Hatton
IMO i's all talk
Oscar v Hatton it just aint gonna happen ;D
-
Re: Oscar to fight Ricky Hatton
same here, and if it does i'm sorry but DLH murders Hatton
-
Re: Oscar to fight Ricky Hatton
This fight will never take place.
-
Re: Oscar to fight Ricky Hatton
Why wouldn't it happen...what's your reasoning?

Advantage two; De La Hoya has said he would like to come and fight at wembley so that would'nt be a problem about where it would take place.
-
Re: Oscar to fight Ricky Hatton
Oscar doesn't deserve this fight at all in last 4 years his record is 2 wins and 3 losses Mayweather vs Hatton is right fight if i was Hatton i wouldn't take the fight.
-
Re: Oscar to fight Ricky Hatton
De La Hoya tkos Hatton.Oscar is to big and powerful for Hatton he is gonna bust him up when he comes rushing in.Only chance for Hatton is if De la Hoya comes in weight drained and Hatton would be able to take that second half of the fight if he makes it that far.Thats how i see it anyway.Bad fight for the Hitman apart from the money he will pick up.
-
Re: Oscar to fight Ricky Hatton
exactly, if Hatton was hurt by Collazo's shots upstairs, and by Urango's body shots, DLH's punches are gonna stop him in his tracks, i'd be so bold to say that DLH would win by the 8th, either by stopping cold, or by stoppage due to cuts and/or swelling on Hatton, either way i don't see Hatton winning unless DLH comes in like Morales did against Pacquiao, completely weight drained
-
Re: Oscar to fight Ricky Hatton
The fight isnt going to happen. Its a silly match up. Why Oscar would be targeting Hatton makes me very cynical! Its not gonna happen.
Is it Oscars new ploy to call out every smaller guy under the sun for a matchup now! ???
-
Re: Oscar to fight Ricky Hatton
I'm not sure it happens but if it does,it does for 2 main reasons:
1.) Oscar is a huge name,no-one would turn him down and definitely not Hatton who would become well known in stateside just by his name being mentioned with Oscar.
2.) Oscar usually gets to fight the guys he wants. And he knows Mayweather wants Ricky too so he would be "one upping" Floyd.
Oscar saying he can make 147 will only further entice Hatton. I doubted whether this fight could be made too but if Oscar wants to come to 147,then I guess it can be made,
Would anyone be excited about this fight? I don't think I would! :-\

I have no interest whatsover. Oscar has been beaten too often recently and is seriously inactive. At 147 I think Hatton would take him out late if he fights the right fight. Oscar gets tired easily at 154? Then watch him at 147! ;D
Its a fight that proves nothing for either guy though.
-
Re: Oscar to fight Ricky Hatton
Totally agree Miles,it would prove nothing and I don't think it would be a great styles match up either.

Excellant analysis, I see it happening the same way.

Re: Oscar to fight Ricky Hatton
My dream is Oscar-Hatton and Mayweather-Mosley with Hatton and Mayweather winning and fighting each other. That would be special :o

Agree 100% ICE, he still thinks he has the right to pick and choose who he fights because he is a big draw, rather than his acheivements (or lack of) in the ring lately.
-
Re: Oscar to fight Ricky Hatton
it's no worse than Trinidad/Jones Jr., and sadly enough there are plenty people getting up for that fight
-
Re: Oscar to fight Ricky Hatton
Hatton or his dad actually claim that they never said Floyd had to come to 140 for the fight. The story first emerged in the guardian but they were apparently misquoted. If you go onto the official ricky hatton website on their forum there is a topic somewhere about it. One of the forum members (I guess he is close to the Hatton camp unless he is talking rubbish) conducted a telephone interview with Ray Hatton regarding the matter and he claims all he said was that they would fight 'as though' they were training for a 140 bout to keep Hattons speed unlike last time where he reckons they bulked too much.
I don't like Ricky's chances against ODLH, it also makes a bout with Mayweather less interesting and meaningful if he loses to Oscar.

Do you dislike money ??? I think if you were Hatton you would take the fight, and that you weren't really thinking when you posted otherwise. If Hatton fought Oscar at Wembley he would make well over ten million dollars plus massive upside. Noone else would ever bring him nearly as much cash. And realistically, he has no better a chance of beating Mayweather, Cotto, Mosley, than he does Oscar. They'd all crush him imo, but hey if he takes one of them good on him, it's good for boxing.
-
Re: Oscar to fight Ricky Hatton
C'mon now Hatton has a punchers chance in all of those fights. One good kidney shot ;) Plus I think Oscar will be too weak at 147 to be overpowering. He faded in the Mayweather fight if you ask me. That was at 154... The only advantage I would give Oscar is his size, hes taller.

Ricky still lives in his hometown with his family and friends, he has no need to make huge money as he and his son are already set for life (that was his main aim in boxing afterall). He is not greedy, he took a massive pay cut in order to pay KT more cash to make that fight. Who else was trying to make a fight with Kostya after what he did to Mitchell? No one. He wants Floyd and it makes sense for the fight to happen. Its the perfect time actually.

A massive paycut? How much?

Re: Oscar to fight Ricky Hatton
I entirely disagree that it doesn't prove anything. Forget that Oscar faught Mayweather, then what does it prove, or factor it in, it puts Hatton on par with Mayweather at the present if he wins. If Oscar wins, it means he's still a force to be reckoned with. Plus it makes money, now when has making money proved nothing?

i agree with u. My question is why will Hatton move up in weight to fight de la hoya but not go up to fight PBF?

I'm sure it was at least a million pounds
