Anybody for a petition against the horrible B.A.D. matchups?

Baldomir vs Forrest ? :(

If we take any more of this, HBO will keep doing these Boring *ss After Dark matchups.
B.A.D. was about showing the next breed of boxers in competitve real fights, fighters who deserve the money and attention HBO can give.

I'm totally in for an online petition. HBO MUST KNOW!!! I'm a boxing fan and what the hell is HBO's problem with making competitive matchups for the unknowns and prospects. Boxing is for the boxers and the FANS!

WE PAY! WE SUPPORT! SO WHO'S WITH ME!

Take a look at the fights scheduled for that saturday. Its by far the best fight going on. Do they set up the fights or buy the rights to the events?

Why is that a bad matchup? two former world champs with different styles fighting isnt a bad matchup. Unless its Toney-Rahman or something like that.

You will still pay for this... you know HBO isn't free, and they actually DO have an enormous amount of cash to give to the fighters in need. Carlos and Vernon have already had their time and fame. New, young, hard working fighters need the exposure... and if you know boxers, you know that starving fighters will fight for it in the spotlight.

The way you guys are talking, you don't care about this regurgitation of old "HBO owned and recognized" former champions. When HBO could easily do their homework and find young new talent and show it to the public. And have exciting fights like the first B.A.D. where a little known fighter at the time named Marco Antonio Barrera got his chance to show his mettle against Kennedy Mckinney (check it out on youtube, you'll see a REAL fight) Fighters like Linares, Sturm, Diaz, Soto, even the contenders who've long earned their chance. Trust me, it'd be more entertaining than this repeat of former champion matchups that we never asked for.
If I were HBO, I wouldn't care either, because apparently there is no outcry from these horrible matchups on B.A.D.

The BAD matchups have been very good lately, very good. In fact, outside of that Stevie Johnston - Vivian Harris card, I really can't think of one I didn't care much for. They've been good and this matchup has to be televised somewhere...

Your logic is hypocritical in my opinion. On the one hand you are arguing that HBO has an obligation to up and coming fighters, to showcase their talents and to help promote them, yet on the other you seem to think that a fighter who has risen to the very top and made the p4p rankings (Forrest) or who has been an undisputed world champ as recently as one fight ago (Baldimor) should just be discarded because they are rubbish and nobody cares about them any more ???

Your kind of care and concern a fighter could most defintely do without ::** :P

Personally you may not like this matchup, but plenty of others do. Personally I'm excited to see which one of these will go on for one last hurahh. Forrest has only ever lost to one fighter in his entire career and Baldomir is the kind of hard working good honest grafter that most fans would not begrudge him time in the limelight.

As for HBO's obligation to up and coming fighters, well Sho Box and ESPN Friday and Wednesday night fights are doing pretty well in that regard. HBO's duty is to cover boxing and provide us with a range of fighters.

I believe this fight is for the vacant light middleweight title so the result is obviously significant as whoever wins will be world champion. Personally I think HBO's duty is to cover championship fights more than anything, as every world title fight should be televised, don't you think?

Sorry, but people should never complain about boxing being on TV. If Ruiz was on against Vinnie Maddalone, you bet your sorry ass I'll be watching it.

Both Forrest and the big Baldoski are former world champions, and if a young fighter defeated one for the title, it'd be a great way to propell them into the big time with not only a green belt, but also a name on their record. The fight will also be a way to add to their own legacies. I hope Baldo wins big.

Im not sure 2 good shows don't make up for some of the snoozefests and complete missmatchs we have had to put up with. Then again i did enjoy the last couple as you said they were alright. Can we at least stop him bringing us anymore heavyweight fights?

I like watching BAD, and I appreciate the fact that it's still on the air
While I am not really excited to see Baldomacarena vs. Forrest
I am interested enough to watch it. I fully expect it to be better
than some of the PPV headliners we've had (just my opinion of course)

Plus isn't it next week with the Phillipines vs. Mexico on BAD?
That's gonna be friggin awesome.

I won't sign said petition. This whole week is kinda slow for boxing,

Well I nearly did, but Frank came to me crying that as my ideas were so great, he was worried I'd put him out of business and when I looked at his sorry dough eyes, I saw a man in fear, so I decided against it. It's a shame because I'd planned a great first card...

Baldomir-Forrest is an interesting fight, there are a lot of other fights i wouldn't like to replace this one.

Baldo-Forrest is a horrible fight and nothing like what BAD shows should be.

However, I think HBO's been a lot better lately, and as long as they keep coming up with BAD cards like the one with Guzman versus Soto then I can deal with the occasional meaningless, boring fights like this one. And like I said, I think overall HBO's been getting better lately, they've even had undercards for a few of their fights. :D

It's a world title fight, you'd rather they just not show it ???

I don't really care if they show it. I'm not planning on watching it live, if for some unknown reason it turns out to be a great fight then I'll download it.

I just think they could find something better, this is pretty bottom of the barrel, title or not. But like I said, its not worthy of signing a petition or anything, its just one crap fight, they've been doing better lately and hopefully this is just a blip. To me just because a fight is for a title means absolutely nothing, doesn't make it an important fight to me. There have been a lot of crap fights for titles, worse ones than this.
