James Oyebola 'Brain Dead'... Some appreciation please!
F8cking Cowards >:mad
All he did was ask them to put out their Cigarettes and got shot in the face for his troubles and sadly this is a sign of how bad London has become (statistically THE most Violent City in the world at present).
A former champion boxer shot in the head after asking three men to stop smoking is now brain dead and will have his life support machine switched off on Friday, his solicitor said on Thursday.
James Oyebola, 47, was shot at close range in a London nightclub in the early hours of Monday morning.
His solicitor, Scott Ewing, said he was being kept alive today so family members could pay their last respects.
But just before midday Friday consultants will legally declare him dead and switch off his life support machine, he added.
The 6ft 9ins former British heavyweight champion was shot in the head and leg in
a covered courtyard area at the rear of Chateau 6 in Fulham Road, west London.
Four shots were fired but no weapon has been found.
Mr Oyebola, known as Big Bad during his fighting career, arrived at Chateau 6 at about 11pm on Sunday for a drink with the owner after finishing work at a nearby bar.
He was shot shortly before 1am after intervening to help staff who had asked three men to stub out their cigarettes.
It was 23 days after smoking was banned in pubs, clubs and restaurants in England. His attackers, described as black and aged between 19 and 25, fled the club on foot - apparently in separate directions.
Mr Oyebola, born in Nigeria, won 18 of his 23 fights, and was a bronze medallist at the 1986 Commonwealth Games. After winning the WBC international heavyweight title in 1993, he retired in 1996.

Re: James Oyebola 'Brain Dead'... Some appreciation please!
That's a damn shame, and I hope you R.I.P. old warrior. It would be real good if they catch those cowards who did that and put them away for life. As much as we have evolved as humans, sometimes I wonder if we're not just a bunch of well dressed cavemen who's 1st instinct is to whack someone for no better reason than they are standing in front of you. Many condolences and much respect to you James Oyebola!! :'(

Re: James Oyebola 'Brain Dead'... Some appreciation please!
What a shame, my condolensces to his family. Too many guns, and a-hole's in the streets. Seems like any confrontation escalates to guns these days....

Re: James Oyebola 'Brain Dead'... Some appreciation please!

Re: James Oyebola 'Brain Dead'... Some appreciation please!
May he rest in peace, my thoughts, condolences and prayers are with his family. Hopefully, the sh*theads who committed the crime will pay a high price and rot in hell forever.

Re: James Oyebola 'Brain Dead'... Some appreciation please!
That is so sad. May he rest in peace.
Its to bad people blame guns and not the people that use them .Lets see this happened in London where guns are ileagal to have not in the US .Even the cops don't have guns in London from what I understand.I guess if they were there they would have just watched it happen. So much for gun laws . Just because guns are not legal doesn't meant they are not there. I own a gun ,at least I can shoot back. Crack is ileagal too ,I guess nobody has that either. ::**

Re: James Oyebola 'Brain Dead'... Some appreciation please!
I used to enjoy watching JO. He seemed like a genuine nice bloke.
One of the funniest things I ever saw in the ring happened when he fought Andy Gerrard, the tough little Welsh trialhorse. Oyebola had beaten Gerrard in his debut and was fighting him again in his sixth fight. At some point JO was bashing AG in the corner, raining punches down on him while the camera was just behind Gerrards back, getting a close up. Suddenly, Gerrard turned around and gave this big goofy grin at the camera, then turned back around and started trading with Oyebola. The fight ended up a draw.
His rematch with Scott Welch was a corker too with both men punishing each other.
Sad to see him go out like this. He deserved better and I hope his family can pull through ok.
I hope they can catch these horrible little gits.

Of course the cops have guns in london...they have guns all over the uk in every single police station as part of an armed response unit. They use guns whenever required as the situation dictates...i should know i passed one in birmingham train station last week with a massive machine gun as part of anti terrorism after the glasgow bombings. As much as i agree it is the people who committed this horrible crime are to blame, i still think the rise in gun availability is to blame for the rise in these kinds of killings. We dont have even resembling the kind of gun murders that the usa has, 10 thousand a year compared to less than a hundred speaks for itself. I dont think this boxer would have carried a gun even if it was legal, he was a decent fellow who fought with his hands like a warrior, he wasnt a pussy like the idiots that jacked him.

Re: James Oyebola 'Brain Dead'... Some appreciation please!
Thats just leaves me speechless.....Is a shame when you can't even go to a friends establishment for a drink and have some conversation without some punk and his cronies having to act like fools trying to impress no one but themselves.....Bulling some bar staff then like the shamless cowards they are use a weapon against a man who would have put some manners into them all if it was a fair fight......
Oyebola was just trying to help defuse a situation in a pals place of business and this is his return......
Every man has his due and must pay in some way for his wrongs....Lets all hope these three pay sooner then later....
Best thoughts to James family...

Re: James Oyebola 'Brain Dead'... Some appreciation please!
Truly disgusting..it never ceases to amaze me how heartless and cowardly these pieces of shit can be. It makes my blood boil everytime I hear of someone shot dead or stabbed for absolutely no reason at all. The amount of people that these cowardly killers have caused to suffer now because they wanted to be kool and smoke in a place where it is illegal?? >:mad
Deepest condolonces to all of your loved ones and R.I.P to you James.

Its a sick world we live in!!

Re: James Oyebola 'Brain Dead'... Some appreciation please!
R.I.P
Not how did he die, but how did he live?
Not what did he gain, but what did he give?
These are the units to measure the worth
Of a man as a man, regardless of birth.
Not, what was his church, nor what was his creed?
But had he befriended those really in need?
Was he ever ready, with word of good cheer,
To bring back a smile, to banish a tear?
Not what did the sketch in the newspaper say,
But how many were sorry when he passed away
Thoughts are with his family at this sad time xx

I was missinformed about the police not having guns. I could go on forever about this and this is not the place for it. Im not blaming you I started it.
I dont want to make this post about something other than the terrible tragedy . My he rest in peace.

Re: James Oyebola 'Brain Dead'... Some appreciation please!
It really is sad these days the lack of appreciation for human life in todays society... My Fiance' says I am to cautious of people, I tell her trust none peroid!!!
The need for self preservation is urgent as ever, I dont let beggers, people asking for directions etc. get to close were I cant react. People will kill or maim for no good reason, I lost a workmate of mine 6 years ago for $20 while he was protecting his grandma from a home invasion :( I live in a great neighborhood but I lock the house down at nite and check all windows and doors before bedtime as well as My Fiance's house.
I always carry a blade and are trained and profecient on how to use it, and will if the kids, fiance or me are attacked. May Mr. Oyebola Rest in Peace and his family comforted thru this tragedy :-\ May God have mercy on the murders soul's cause I hope your justice sytem has them executed >:mad

Yeah, I always thought I would visit London if I ever got the courage to travel. I am starting to reconsider.
Sorry, James. :(

Re: James Oyebola 'Brain Dead'... Some appreciation please!
It's not just London. A guy here in Boston was beaten to death recently over a spilled drink. About a year and a half ago I was helping my daughter move into a new apartment in Manhattan and a guy threatened to shoot me over a parking space. Friggin lunatics are everywhere. One really needs to be careful when dealing with other people.

So true, Canvas.
I am fully capable of defending myself but only when there is no out. I never test anyone because you never know how they will react. Besides the weak are the greater threats because they need a weapon to help them claim victory.

I live near Richmond about 2 hours from D.C. One time I stooped at a gas station there lost ,during the day. I asked a lady directions ,and she said you just need to get out of here. She actually jumped when I talked to her. It was like pump your gas and get out.. I was like man is this Bagdad or D.C. LOL
I'm watching young Witherspoon right now. BTW Not a bad jab from him
