Raging Bull is one of my all time favorite movies in general, brilliant cinematography. The way he shot in black and white, with the color grainy footage, made you feel like you were back in those days. On the waterfront, Somebody Up There Loves Me(based on Graziano), Million Dollar Baby, I liked Rocky 1 but the rest are average if ya ask me. Cinderella Man was great...I like the movies that are based on actual fighters, and give you a little insight on the history of that fighter.
Somebody Up There was actually the film that got me thinking about starting this threadQuote:

adrieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn hehehe
I felt that the Rocky sequals were comical, they entertained me plenty as a kid but there's nothing serious about them.
My favorite character from those movies was Mickey. ;D
the rocky movies are great apart from the 3rd and 5th any1 else not think the 3rd film was bad seen alot of ppl didnt like the 5th 1
Im a huge fan of the Rocky Movies .My wife laughs at me because I know all the lines . This last one Rocky Balboa was different than the others . The fight was like your watching an HBO fight ,pretty cool. I like Pauly. You have to love a guy that drinks and smokes cigars for at least 30 years and is no wrose than he was when he started ,still bitchin and complainin. LOL
There was another fight movie I have not seen mentioned yet ,cant remember the name right now. SOme kid gets caught up in fighting for money ,,,,,, the bad guy was the guy that played the sherrif in the first Rambo movie,. I will think of it soon.
Oh I got it Gladiator ,,,I guess it was mentioned already.

The Joe Louis Story - Coley Wallace
Joe and Max - Leonard Roberts
Dempsey - Treat Williams
Rocky Marciano - Jon Favreu
The Boxer - Daniel Day Lewis
Gentleman Jim - starring Errol Flynn
Champion - starring Kirk Douglas
The Harder They Fall - Humphrey Bogart
FYI it's Somebody Up There Likes Me.....not loves me ;D
Diggstown is probably the worst out of all of those movies
I thought the Marciano movie could have been done a lottttt better. I saw the Joe Louis story, that was decent.
WTF are you talkin bout Lyle? Diggstown was great! The only part that dragged it down was when they killed that black kid's brother, fukin Bruce Dern. Which reminds me, it isn't a boxing movie, but if you wanna watch a great movie with Bruce Dern check out "The Burbs", Tom Hanks is also in it. It's a damn good movie...think I'm gonna have to rent it or buy it now that I'm thinkin bout it...Quote:

Rick Ducommun is awesome in that movie....he plays Art the neighbor who gives Tom Hanks all the ideas about the Klopeks being evil.
I'm supprised no one has mentioned Ali. I mean this was not a bad movie. Not exactly great eather, but not bad.
I actually liked Diggstown.
Glaidator was good.
Cinderella Man is one of my favs
Edit:
I also enjoyed Tyson and Don king movies
Im suprised I didnt mention Snatch
HAHA, of all the movies mentioned on this thread. This is by far my favorite movie. Not sure if I would categorize it as a boxing movie, but it did have several fights.Quote:

CC Lyle. For that statement you have regained some of my respect. Still, you are wrong about Diggstown, its a bad ass movie.Quote:

Has anyone seen the documentary on Emile Griffith, Ring of Fire:The Emile Griffith Story? I was looking on youtube and found a little snip-it of the Paret fight. That was insane.... the amount of punishment, and the way he just slumps to the ground. This might have been the biggest blow to boxing on broadcast TV. They didnt show fights on broadcast TV until the 70's. If anyone has seen this documentary, do you recommend it? Emile Griffith is a 5 time champion and was great up until that fight, after that fight he was never the same and seemed to ease up on his opponents for fear he would permanantly damage another fighter. The animosity between Paret and Griffith began when Paret called him a "maricon" at the weigh in. Maybe a clear headed Griffith eases up on him in the 12th, who knows....

Somebody up there likes me is still my favorite.
