Around 300,000 buys seems to be the figure always released.. Oscar fights aside.
So I guess it's pretty much par for the course.
I remember Mayweather - Judah did 350, and Oscar fights always do a bunch but 300 is a lot of money. Times that by 50 and then add the live gate and you have A LOT of money brought in so yeah it doesn't surprise me that that was the second.
I'm surprised it sold that many buys, but that's good news for Winky and B-Hop. Does anyone know how many buys Cotto-Judah did?
Arum said they needed about 150,000 to break even and ended up selling about 225,000. So, that fight did OK.Quote:

WTF i wish there was more boxing fans...
A fight like Williams-Margarito or Cotto-Judah should have made way more money than they did. I always thought Wright-Hopkins would do well and it was an exciting fight, though I think at a lower weight Winky could have made it even more exciting, but his footwork was exceptionally slow that night.
I'm not sure "exciting is the word I would use for it ;)Quote:

Just can't believe it :-\
Oh well at least I did not Pay to see that crap
I personally don't think it's a good thing that this is the second highest. I don't think people who didn't know much about both fighters who saw this would have been that impressed....It's a shame fights like Cotto Judah did not do as well as fights like this as they are far more exciting but other than other hand,Cotto is still young and if he stays unbeaten,he'll be doing big big numbers. He's only 25/26,so the Judah numbers were pretty good.
I think Manny-MAB will do alot of numbers.I hope so,Manny is a fighter who is good for boxing in terms of if a new fan were to watch him, they would find him fun,be impressed imo.
Cotto/Judah, as far as here int he states, had about zero marketing besides during WNF or FNF. That goes for a ton of fights. Hopkins/Wright had a bunch of hype, and they had that HBO 'Countdown' show that was like a shorter version of the 24/7 show they had for the DLH/PBF fight.Quote:

But i'm sure Cotto or Judah wouldn't like that seeing that they wouldn't be getting paid as much. It's all about marketing and selling the big(ger) names.
