Has maywather ever been really hurt or in trouble?
I don't pretend to be the biggest expert on mayweather,i have seen a alot of his fights but not as much as i would like... anyhow
Has he ever been really hurt? i know judah caught him with a nice shot, but he didn't look hurt or in trouble at any real point? has anyone done this to him?
I was wondering because i don't think he has come up agasint a body puncher like hatton before, and if ricky could get inside and hurt him early in, it would be interesting to see how mayweather would react from that...
cheers

Id say the most he has ever been wobbled was against Corley, it was a temple shot i think and he sort of lost his way for a couple of seconds. Thats the only time i can think of.

Re: Has maywather ever been really hurt or in trouble?
The only time Mayweather ever gets hurt, is when he breaks his hand on somebody's face.
-
Re: Has maywather ever been really hurt or in trouble?
In the fights I've seen of him, I can't remember ever even seeing him cut!
-
Re: Has maywather ever been really hurt or in trouble?
Mayweather is the complete fighter. He has a great chin and better defensive skills. The only thing he lacks is a KO punch but he may even have that and just not the style to utilize it.

Yeah thats the only time I could think of as well. He quickly composed himself against the ropes and ended up the aggressor by the end of the round. That was probably one of the biggest rounds of his career as far as trading shots goes!

HA HA HA HA, so true. Didn't he get knocked down once by big head shot to his glove?
-
Re: Has maywather ever been really hurt or in trouble?
Castillo was probably the closest to beating him ( he may have even ), and he gave him some good shots.. Mayweather wasn't cut but he was definitely under pressure for most of the latter rounds of the first fight.
-
Re: Has maywather ever been really hurt or in trouble?
One of the great things about Floyd Mayweather is his vision, he see's the shots coming, it's the shots that you don't see that hurt you because your neck doesn't roll, causing the shockwave as your brain rebounds off the skull, causing the knockout or loss of signals. The only time Mayweather has looked like a shot rocked him was against Corley, and that was only for a moment too. He's taken good shots, but due to his vision he's seen them coming. De La Hoya and Castillo in particular have hit Mayweather with big left hooks numerous times in fights, and they haven't shook him at all. It's all to do with his defense, his greatest weapon. If you bite your mouthpiece and keep your neck tense it's amazing how fighters can take shots. That's why Heavyweights don't knock each other out in the first round.
-
Re: Has maywather ever been really hurt or in trouble?
Castillo hurt him to the body, that's why he wouldn't move his right elbow from his side at the end of the fight
-
Re: Has maywather ever been really hurt or in trouble?
Watch Corley vs Mayweather Jr. Corley rocks PBF and makes his knees buckle. Lucky for Floyd that he was not in the center of the ring as the shots sent Floyd back and onto the ropes where he survived and Chop-Chop is not a great finisher. Corley had Floyd hurt a few times. There is another fight in PBF's career where he was rocked by? I am not sure who it was, let me look.
-
Re: Has maywather ever been really hurt or in trouble?
It says a lot about pbf that we have to search to remember a time he's been hurt....that says to me the best answer is probaby "not really".. the fight mentioned above with corley maybe or even the time he actually touched the canvas against judah but he wasn't imo really hurt either time....the thing about pbf is that he see's everything coming wheather you land or not...99 % he dodges all together....
-
Re: Has maywather ever been really hurt or in trouble?
I would say Corley had him buzzed for a quick sec. Until he recovered and lit him up

Stop trying to make it sound like corley did more than he did. He stunned floyd for 5 seconds at best and then went on to get dominated for the rest of the fight. But i do remember cotto being knocked out on his feet from a corley punch. too bad corley i snot a good finisher

I just stated the facts that Floyd was rocked by Corley. Floyd's knees buckled and he was saved by the ropes. You know this is true because you just said: "He stunned floyd for 5 seconds" And BTW, Corley had Floyd hurt TWICE in that round. Do you want me to post the footage?
The thread was about PBF, not Cotto. But, again.... You agreed with everything I said because I mentioned that Corley is not a great finisher. I never said Cotto was not hurt against Corley. Truth is, Cotto was on a very funny HILARIOUS queer street where it looked like Cotto was stomping cockroaches in the ring. Nevertheless, Floyd would still get served and OWNED by Cotto and you know it and if you don't know it, then you don't know jack squat about diddly squint. ;D Now go sit down!

Bottom line is, Floyd was hurt by a complete no one. I will post the fight later so I (we) can get our clown on. You know how I do it.

Re: Has maywather ever been really hurt or in trouble?
Corey hurt Mayweather Judah knocked him down but he wern't really hurt and early in Mayweathers career he got bloody nose so i heard against Emanuel Burton and also read this.
Mayweather Jr vs always rugged and ready to fight Emanuel Burton. Floyd Mayweather Jr. Claims Burton gave him his toughest fight as a pro. Emanuel is a very akward and durable fighter. Highly praise by fight fans, but underated by boxing experts. His constant show boating lead him to several controversial decision losses as well as confusing the shit out of his opponents. His style was confusing enough to give the champion a bloody nose which force Junior to pull the trigger and go for the kill.

Thats 1st part of the fight the other parts are on there but don't wana put all the parts up because im sure you can find them but i think this shows how great Mayweather is actually because we are trying to find little parts of when Mayweather was actually hurt thats what you call talented fighter.

come on cotto beat floyd. That wont happen. Im glad u have faith in your guy but a year ago arum, cotto and everyone else wouldnt even mention cotto gettin in the ring with floyd but now all of a sudden he beat zab and hes good enough to beat floyd. i dont think so. hes the same flawed fighter he was then.. max kellerman said after the gatti-floyd fight that he would be interested in a floyd-hatton fight but that floyd would TEAR cotto up. I agree. cotto is just too slow. hes not gettin past shane let alone floyd. Its good to have fighters u like but its also good to live in reality. Shane tko 10 round. have a nice day.
-
Re: Has maywather ever been really hurt or in trouble?
funny how these thread always turn into who would beat floyd...that sometimes screams favortism instead of objectively answering the question...
i'd say chop hurt him the most...and i think someone said floyd was lucky not to be in the center...when actually he was..and soon as he got hurt he came forward....

Name a title holder that wasn't hurt by someone at some point in their career..........
Floyd has been hurt LESS than almost all of them...............

While you're at it, could you post the Cotto vs. Corley fight right next to it.
I'm just curious to see who fared better against a "nobody."

With all respect, this "nobody" Corley could bang. Like was said above, he is no great finisher. But he can punch with the best. I have seen this guy turn peoples leg into jelly with one punch many times.

Re: Has maywather ever been really hurt or in trouble?
Corley landed a good shot on him, and Castillo had him in trouble of losing the fight in their first fight, but nah I've never really seen him hurt.

I never said Chop-Chop was a no-body. I said there is a fight in PBF's career where he fought a Mexican and the little Mexican was tossing Floyd up. That is the fight I am going to post. Notice that in our previous comments and posts, we have been refering to Corley by name and nothing more. Don't get it twisted. Thank you.

Re: Has maywather ever been really hurt or in trouble?
Just about every fighter has been hurt/wobbled at some point in their career. If you looked thru the careers of a lot of hall-of-fame fighters, many of them were hurt by mediocre fighters at one time or another.
-
Re: Has maywather ever been really hurt or in trouble?
Floyd has been
Dropped by Judah
Dropped by Hernandez
Out on his feet against Corley
But he is still the creme de la creme of boxing ! ;)
-
Re: Has maywather ever been really hurt or in trouble?
Champions are the ones who fight through adversity and still pull out a win. Almost every elite fighter has had to do this.

Re: Has maywather ever been really hurt or in trouble?
corley and judah, corley got him good a few times, judah caught him early with a body shot. he recover from both though.
-
Re: Has maywather ever been really hurt or in trouble?
Judah hit Floyd and Floyd's glove touched the ground because he was off balance. Corley had Floyd buzzed. And Floyd went down on his own when he hurt his hand against Carlos Hernandez. That's it. Out of 38 fights, he hasn't even been in trouble. Maybe he's not exciting, maybe he can take more risks, but the fact that he's basically never been in trouble is amazing. I really do think that Floyd's gonna be one of those fighters that will truly be appreciated 20 years from now.

I was talking about Carlos Hernandez the one he took a count against but its all good cuz Floyd has never been close to gettting stopped . He's too smart to get caught by silly punches

Calzaghe has been hurt alot more than Mayweather has against Eubank against Reid against Woodhall and Salems knockdown against Calzaghe wasn't no flash knockdown that was right on the chin and was devasting shot Mitchell shot was more of a flash knockdown but he was still shook up Mayweather has never been in that kind of trouble infact he never really has been in trouble.

I just see this fight again Mayweather was stunned i don't know about ropes saving him but he recovered quickly because he was still aware enough to go in that defensive shell and make Corely miss then he comeback in same round and hammered Corley it was great round i enjoyed it both men were hurt he did hit Mayweather later in round but i don't think he was hurt really Danny G and as for Cotto beating Mayweather well im not sure about that Cotto does get rocked alot even though Cotto is one of my favorite fighters he gets shook up too much if Corley was better finisher he probably could of stopped Cotto realistically i don't think Cotto can win his defense isn't good enough he will have to get close and work away as much as he can i think he will trouble Mayweather with his power though he has them crunching body shots.
