Re: former Tyson victim 'Julius Francis' to enter MMA at age 42
Well the transition has been made the other way by Matt Skelton, who nobody can argue is a world great in boxing, but I think this is going to be embarrassing for Francis. Notice they signed him on a 2-fight deal, just in case he manages to fluke a win in his first.

Re: former Tyson victim 'Julius Francis' to enter MMA at age 42
The Towering Inferno Julius Francis....it's an appropriate name because in the end he always comes tumbling down and ends up in a heap of unrecognizable rubble.
Matt Skelton hasn't fought anyone good...put him in with a Klitschko or Sam Peter or Eddie Chambers or Chazz Witherspoon....they'd whip his ass.....just because you beat Audley Harrison and Danny Williams doesn't mean you're a great boxer.

Whoa. Both of you, STOP! Turn this train of shame back right now. Read again please. Nobody can argue is a world great. Therefore he is most certainly is not a world great. Hope that clears it up.

Re: former Tyson victim 'Julius Francis' to enter MMA at age 42
Pele Reid beat the fuck out of Vitali in kickboxing but then got smashed up by Francis, soooooooooooooo Francis has to be the best at cage fighting,no?
That guy he's fighting is a bit handy as it goes, not another loon just out for a bit of wedge.

To be fair though MMA stars have generally done better in boxing than boxers have in MMA. Matt Skelton is still Britian's best heavyweight and is really undefeated dropping a terrible first decision to Danny Williams, a loss he reversed with a near shutout a few months later. He'll probably fight for a world title eventually after turning to boxing age 35.
No boxer has acheived anything close to that level of success in MMA. Ray Mercer had a go and got battered and choked out inside 2 minutes.
The only boxer to win an MMA bout was Tommy Morrison but the rules were no kicking, no throws, no grappling, no holding and no takedowns or elbow...And boxing gloves had to be worn.....so he basically won a boxing match against an MMA fighter ::**

Re: former Tyson victim 'Julius Francis' to enter MMA at age 42
Aww crap Bilbo...you started it ...I was wondering how long this thread could go before deteriorating into another cess pool that is the MMA vs Boxing threads...Really as odd as it may sound, Butterbean has had as much success as any boxer turned MMA (10-4).
Here is a somewhat legit boxer who competed rather disastrously in Pride
http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php...2476&cat=boxer
http://www.sherdog.com/fightfinder/f...ighterID=14884
Jeremy Williams is 3-0 against pretty low competition
The reality is until money becomes more comparable, the public really wants to see it and a world champion cailber boxer wants to risk his legacy we will never get to see what a top notch boxer can do against top MMA fighters

Yeah but you said it yourself, crap competition. Butterbean is a sideshow in both boxing and MMA. Butterbean has never got anywhere near a legit MMA title just like he never got anywhere near a legit boxing title. He's just circus entertainment, fighting handpicked opponents to entertain the crowd on a Saturday night. I wouldn't class him as either an MMA or boxing star.

Re: former Tyson victim 'Julius Francis' to enter MMA at age 42
No mma guy has ever become anywhere near an icon of boxing (vitali isn't technically mma as he is only a pure kickboxer incase you wanted to go that route). The fact that retired boxers are "trying it out" has to be saying something.
Yeah mercer got beat (at age 47 ::**). He wouldn't of been able to hang in a boxing ring either at that age so it proves nothing. Again i will present you with the case that no mma guy (gracie or other) has ever beaten a heavyweight boxer at the top of his game under any circumstances (boxing, mma, w/e). These retired fools need to stay retired.

Not that I'm judging either way, but when Francis turned pro boxing would have offered the more lucrative deal rather than MMA.

Actually Vitali was only a teenager when he lost to pele reid in a amateur kickboxing fight
Alot of the all-time-great boxer didn't even turn pro after they teenager year.
For example lennox lewis lost to Alex Miroshnichenko 4 time out of 4 in amateur boxing he was also ko a couple of time by Alex
Beside that no other person would make it world Champion kickboxer and world champion boxer especially when fighting a kickboxing match and boxing match on the same day. It impossible to give 100% in both fight, there not enough time for the body to recover and it sign of over training unless if you have some kind of special genetic.
Remember what Happen to lewis against rahman when lennox turn up in bad condition.
Just to get some fact right Vitali klitschko ko orlin norris in the 1st round the same orlin norris ko pele reid in the 1st round
Vitali klitschko also ko Julius francis inside 4minute
Just check out his record http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php...7033&cat=boxer

Re: former Tyson victim 'Julius Francis' to enter MMA at age 42
I don't get these guys and what goes through their heads but hey it's their body right??.....I don't think he is going to fare much better the Ray Mercer even with his limited martial arts background....
wouldn't be a pisser if he went and dominated the whole MMA scene...Leaving us all with our jaws dropped and him kicking himself for not fighting MMa sooner LOL
-
Re: former Tyson victim 'Julius Francis' to enter MMA at age 42
remy bonjasky is not a kick boxer world champion but just a kick boxer
bonjasky is also 29 or 30 years
Vitali klitschko was 21years when he become super heavyweight proffesional kickbooxing
world champion no jaws would drop if he ruled MMA since just the ''world class'' kickboxer are ruling MMA.
It would be a step back for Vitali, hey ii like saying if lennox could be amatuer superheavyweight boxing champion then all our jaw would drop.
Pele reid might have been a world class kickboxer but he nothing inside a boxing ring since he has no punches.
Vitali manage to be champ in both sport since his punches and kick are greatest.
Vitali at 21 or even probably in teenager day would do the same do the same to bonjasky that semmy schilt done
http://youtube.com/watch?v=OU3YJ9AHGiA

Re: former Tyson victim 'Julius Francis' to enter MMA at age 42
I am pretty sure Remy has no less then 2 K-1 titles....a WPKA title reign and a few others so....REMY IS A WORLD CHAMPION KICKBOXER.....
If your going to argue a point make sure you have all the facts straight.....
Now your dis-missed until you gain some knowledge

Look man you are very confused!
Bonjasky won the k1 title 2 times in 2003 and 2004 as well semmy shilt had won the last 2 k1 title in 2005 and 2006.
However that a different between winning a world champion kick boxing title.
Semmy shilt is a black belt karate fighter
Remy bonjasky is a world class kick boxer but never ever has won a kickboxing title
please I hope you understand
I have a black belt in Karare myself but am nowhere near the class of seemy shilt and neither am 6ft11 like semmy
-
Re: former Tyson victim 'Julius Francis' to enter MMA at age 42
Then explain the WPKA title win.....
Your trying to measure apples and oranges here out of being desperate....
It is like saying a guy who is the UFC champion is not world champion caliber because he was not world champion in Pride....
You are grasping here....and making a fool of yourself in the meantime

Re: former Tyson victim 'Julius Francis' to enter MMA at age 42
don't worry bonjasky beat up mighty mo
I was upset when i saw bonjasky loose against semmy shilt in 2005
they were goin meet in 2006 semi final but even though bonjasky won the quaterfinal he had to pull of the semi final fight because he was knee in his private soo many times
anyway I wana see bonjasky beat up semy shilt in 2007
