Who wins and how , Calzaghe v Kessler..
Any opinions on who wins this fight, Joe all the way for me because even now he's too fast too tuff and too versatile, and not as predictable either as Kessler, but ya cant knock an unbeaten record can ya....
But it's gotta be Joe's night in Wales he enjoys fighting and is hard as nails i feel....until I'm shown different........... Who feels Kessler can be the fella who shows me different ... ;) anyone.. :)

Cmon Al, I'm sure there are more important things that God has to deal with in prayers than a little scrap at a football ground. I'd imagine his to-do list looks summat like this:
1) Sort out the middle east.
2) Discourage Extremism
3) Sort out poverty and food imbalance
4) Ensure Kessler wins and unifies the SMW titles
5) World Peace
6) Send Jesus back to the world to sort the whole s**t out
7) Go to the pub and get trolleyed.
Anyhow....I reckon Calzaghe will outbox Kessler till the Dane can barely move, and that the ref will step in to save Kessler at 1:59 of the final round.

jc is 4/7 on any1 seen any better odds think ill put a bet on him cant see him losein

I'm expecting a lot of posts along the lines of:
"I think Kessler will win, how will he do it?: I don't like Joe Calzaghe... that's how!" ;)
I'm picking joe for a UD or late TKO... Kessler won't be able to hit him and his only defence is blocking or moving out of range... Joe's footwork and punching style aren't gonna allow Kesslers 1 dimensional style to be effective.

Thas not bad mate try
www.oddschecker.com
But last time i looked Joe was being pummuled, he opened at 4/6 i seen places actully going 2/5 now, so i think you will be lucky to get better than 4/7 mate.

Re: Who wins and how , Calzaghe v Kessler..
Joe Calzaghe is a brilliant boxer. Technical he is better with a great repertoire and he is faster than Kessler . So when Calzaghe get close to Kessler he will have the ADVANTAGE when it comes to in-fights, where I can see he could hurt Kessler.
But Kessler will have the advantage on the distance using his jab and cross, that you can´t find better elsewhere.
Some of you say he is one dimensional, but he is so fast and precise with the jab and combinations he does not need to produce more in the ring and he has hardly been pushed to the limit yet. If Calzaghe don´t get inside to deliever the goods Kessler is going to hurt Calzaghe the same way Andrade was from the distance.
Kessler win TKO 10 8)

Re: Who wins and how , Calzaghe v Kessler..
Kessler is like two Lacys , he is much bigger , much faster , has a great defence , has one of the best hard jabs in boxing and he punches in combinations behind that jab , he can seem robotic because of his european style but he has good footmovent and tight well taught technique ,, he outboxed Mundine who has amazingly fast hands , that fight is a better gauge than what many think , a sneaker as far as form goes , people blow Mundine off but his speed is great and his defense to land clean on is great also ,, Kessler had back injurys in that fight and boxed beautifull ,, that tells me that he wont have any trouble with Joes speed ,, Joe power is not that great either , he has a lot of tkos but not many KOs because he is volume not power ,, but that volume and crowding could give Kessler lots of problems ,, If Kesslers jab is on the mark it will have Joe in trouble because it will prop him as it real solid and that will lead sooner or later onto Kesslers big guns ,,,, Kesslers trump card is his jab and thats what this fight is all about , if Joe can get past it he will get it , if he cant Kessler will and either side can stop the other depending who is on what side of the jab ,,, then we have Joe is 36 and Kessler is 28 , this is the same career point when Hatton fought 36 yr old KT , I reckon the age in the fight will come into it somewhere , Kessler can fight a strong 12 rnds and comes in shape and carrys enough power that he could still knock you in the last , if you write Kessler off you are blind because he is a live one and a country mile ahead off Jeff Lacy .
I see this as great fight and I cant wait for it , Kessler by late KO , an old champ has got to go sooner or later ,, and they get old in one night ,, 36 is getting to where things start to happen when the right opponent turns up , it was never going be a tv star or bika ,,, but with Kessler , the playing field just changed dramatically ,,, If Joe can win this fight its a great effort and I will definitely give hi big Kudos for beating Kessler ,,, if he can

Re: Who wins and how , Calzaghe v Kessler..
Yeah, I was really surprised Jan...finally a well argued case in favour of Kessler. That's how you do it son...no need for this name calling etc.
CC from me too. But I still think Kessler will need to be "two Lacys"....one to hit Joe from each side.

Re: Who wins and how , Calzaghe v Kessler..
Calzaghe been in the game too long to let this sibling run an affair, While Calzaghe is a four timed vet, Kessler is still a prodigy. Calzaghe By late TKO ot UD!

That's exactly how i see it Ad,kessler is so predictable with his 1-2 left hook style that i think Joe skills will be way to much fo him and he'll just pepper his face at will.
Joe can also fight well inside which Kessler can't ;)

thats the reason the smashup is the most respected analyst on saddo.Kessler's style is made for joe, although i would say that every now and then a fighter produces a performance and fights in a style noone thought possible.but its joe on points for me (unless his hands are fixed by magic, then its tko 8/9

Idoubt it, Calzaghe's said that he only wants the huge fights now, and I don't think that Froch has the star name quality of a Hopkins, Dawson, or even Clinton Woods. I'd be surprised if he chooses to go that route, although I'm sure Warren would like the chance to sign Froch up to some sort of contract for his future fights.

Re: Who wins and how , Calzaghe v Kessler..
I have to go with Kessler on this....( I am actually going with my mind on this one not my heart like the prediction contest)....
I think Calzaghe is going to underestimate him...IMO Joe actually thinks he will blast him out like Lacey or Manfredo....
Kessler is preparing himself for Clazaghes puitty pat attacks that seem to come in whirlwind combo's...Kessler is not an overrated HYpe machine based on KO's of no name or past prime fighters..
He knows he is coming into hostile territory and he needs to be dominate to expect a decision in any way.....
The key is going to be that overhand right of Mikkels...One of the best in the business IMO...It is thrown in an awkward angle that is hard to defend against....
It has nothing to do with my opinion of Calzaghe just the fact he is over confident and the fact he truly believes this is a walk in the park...Team Calzaghe is looking past Mikkel and using this as a showcase fight....That will be their downfall

Yes That right hand will be the factor if Calzaghe sleeps on it
-
Re: Who wins and how , Calzaghe v Kessler..
Calzaghe is in a different league to Kessler imo. He will win on points by UD. ;D
-
Re: Who wins and how , Calzaghe v Kessler..
No way Team Calzaghe will 'look past' Kessler mate and his Father Enzo will have Joe training harder than he ever has before for this fight.
This is THE unification fight Joe has always wanted so what could he possibly looking at in the future that would diminish his chances against Kessler.
Make no mistake Dax....Joe will be in the shape of his life for this, his dad will make double sure of that factor.
-
Re: Who wins and how , Calzaghe v Kessler..
Yeah like funk are they taking Kessler lightly.
Calzaghe commented on himself being the UNDERDOG the otherday. Says it all.

Training and being in shape are not mindset though....I am not saying Calzaghe is not coming into this fight ready...I just think he feels it will be an easy bout for him....Just my opp...truth is we won't know until fight night ;)

I've read nothing to suggest Joe thinks he'll have it easy and he himself aknowledges that he is the under dog

Like I said it is my opinion....Ever since Lacey I think Calzaghe feels he is unbeatable....
Just by him saying he FEELS he is the underdog means nothing....Not in my book...
I heard those same comments from Mayweather before the DLH fight.....do you actually think Floyd believed that?

When or where has Joe suggested an easy nights work?...I aint read a hint of that yet, only that the fight has took a while to come together because nobody commercially that is knew about Kessler (He dont put bums on seats)....hence TV money aint been there or available till now,
Which if ya think would suggest the opposite of easy really, as it means Kessler has fought himself into a position of prominence and worth the punt with the money, If Ive mis read please forgive me, he'll be more than up for this as Kessler is a real live opponent, and as with Joe we dont know how good a fighter is ...till they get a defeat or two then we have a yardstick :)
I've read nothing to suggest Joe thinks he'll have it easy and he himself aknowledges that he is the under dog

Re: Who wins and how , Calzaghe v Kessler..
Lets get things in perspective hear Joe is not the underdog in this fight, far from it, Kesslers pwoer is overrated imo, Andrade recently has stated his sparring parnter hits harder ( maybe sour grapes) joe has granite chin, Daxx trust me Kessler wont be taken lightly, Enzo has a camp they call hell, he will be 110% ready why would he look past this guy?? This is his biggest fight of his carer.

I agree with you Skel. No way Calzaghe will be underestimating Kessler. This is the biggest fight for Calzaghe yet and at 35. He will do whatever it takes to try and make sure he is in peak condition for this.
The Bika fight was convincing but substandard and Manfredo was a joke. Calzaghe has no choice but to be at his best and I expect him to be just that. This will be a tough fight. Its been a while since Calzaghe has needed to be at his best but now is as good a time as any to produce it.
-
Re: Who wins and how , Calzaghe v Kessler..
Calzaghe will win this fight, way too much speed for Kessler. He'll make Kess fight at a pace he does not like. I don't think Kessler's power is over rated,he IS a hard hitter, very powerful and hige for the weight but JC's handspeed may be too much. Kessler has to dictate the pace of the fight if he is to win and I don't see him doing that. I hope it's a great fight. JC fights to the level of his opposition and Kessler is a superb fighter,so I expect a great performance from Joe.

OK How about......The Only thing in Boxing Greater The "Insert name of winning fighter here" Skills ...Is "Insert winner of bet's name here" knowledge of the sport
For 1 month ....Unless you can come up with something better....I suck at making stuff like that up
