the only one that matters is The Ring Championship belt
buy the magazine and look at their ratings page. That will give you an idea of who the main men are in each weight division

As far as the other belts go...The only ones truly recognized as WORLD titles are the WBC, WBA, IBF, WBO...The wbo title is the weakest of all the organizations followed by the IBF....
This of course is all determined on bankroll....The richer your company the bigger player you are
I dont agree that that any of the Alphabet titles are stronger or weaker than the other you know... i mean these days id say its not the belt that makes the champion....THE CHAMP MAKES THE BELT....
The Ring is the one that matters although they don't sanction fights or have an actual belt (thanks for the correction Sal)
After that the big 4 alphabet titles

Then you have what I consider minor league titles

Below that there are national and state titles for just about any
country, state, province and territory that allows boxing.
Furthermore, if title-holder changes weight-class and might not come
back in time to fight the sanctioning bodies annual mandatory challenger
they vacate the title and the sanctioning body with have either
a match between the #1 and #2 ranked boxers to become the
interim champ or give it to someone the sanctioning body
deems as a good draw, that will defend the title until the first boxer
comes back to take it away.
Lastly, if a title-holder is going on a long time injury they become
the Emetrius champion which means they get an immediate title
shot when they return to the ring.
All of the rules, ranking and specifics are not set in stone
and may be swayed by money, influence and business leverage.

To give you just a quick breakdown, at light welterweight hatton is siad to be the bes,t he holds the ring and IBO belt, calzaghe is the best SMW and holds the WBO and ring belt, klitchko the best heavy and holds the IBO/IBF... each devisons best holds a different ABC belt, so its up to you whom you class, or how you rate them...

The belts don't mean anything. The main purpose of a HW championship belt is to symbolize that you are the #1 guy. With so many "world championship" belts, the meaning has been lost, and when the belts don't symbolize anything than they are just there to look pretty.
It usually doesn't matter because in pretty much every division there is 1 guy that the majority of boxing fans believe is the #1. That means more than any belt.
