Mundines sporting career all over
Last night Anthony Mundine was interviewed on Aussie tv. He got the worst news possible from his surgeon late yesterday. He will never regain full site and it may not get any better. He was holding back tears when speaking to media, but broke down in his mothers arms soon later. Good luck Choc! Hopefully he proves the docs wrong and gets back in the ring. :'(

Re: Mundines sporting career all over
Wow horrible.....he needs to talk to holyfield. Anything is possible.
-
Re: Mundines sporting career all over
I saw that too, he will lose partial vision in the left eye after recovery from surgery.
It's all over for The Man!
-
Re: Mundines sporting career all over
Wow, I'm shocked. Sad news for him. Out of every negative comes a positive though. At least we won't have to listen to his dickheads fans tell us why he would beat Kessler second time around.
-
Re: Mundines sporting career all over
I used to like Mundine because he was always improving. I mean constantly improving even after title shots and winning bouts he would improve every time out. Then I learned that he was a bit of an ass, but still sad nonetheless.
-
Re: Mundines sporting career all over
If that is the case then obviously it's a horrible shame for him, but I suppose that it will let him do some positive work in promoting eye and contact lens hygiene, and I'm sure he's a big enough star in Oz to get plenty of other work.
However, I'm sure he'll go to every possible solution before he takes the fact that he'll have to retire...it'll be fourth and fifth opinion time.

Re: Mundines sporting career all over
I don't see why his career should be over, I mean they let Thomas Hearns continue to fight even though he's punchdrunk, Morrison has aids, Mesi had bleeding on the brain, Valero has a hole in his head and Zab Judah has no testicles or chin to speak of yet all these guys continue to fight.
What does it matter if you are a bit short sighted in one eye, yyour opponent is never more than a couple feet away from you and you don't need to be able to recognise him, just aim for the man with no top on.

Re: Mundines sporting career all over
Just a thought but where's Big Jack? Normally he'd be all over a story like this ???
Hope he's ok. :-\

Re: Mundines sporting career all over
Fuck you all who say you dont give a shit, how would you like all your dreams to go up in smoke coz of an injury. You guys dont even know him yet you judge, hes nothin like guys like judah or any other fuckwits in boxing. He lives a clean life, doesnt drink or smoke. Hope he comes back and proves all you haters wrong.
-
Re: Mundines sporting career all over
This is fair tragic, i also think we're being a little selfish here by saying "but he ca still find a way to fight." This effects not only boxing, this will be with him for the rest of his life

He cleaned a contact lense with his mouth. Didn't he sort of bring this one on himself?

Re: Mundines sporting career all over
Because Diego Corrales brought his death upon himself does it make it any less tragic?

Very good point.

Don't count your chickens just yet. He's improving each day and is trying absolutely everything to clear the infection. He'll be in hospital for a week or 2 and then can be in a better position to assess where the eye is at.
And anyway they'd still say he could beat him with one eye, and if he does unfortunately have to retire you will have to put up with them saying that he "would have" beat Kessler in a rematch and Jo as well, FOREVER....

Re: Mundines sporting career all over
I still can't find this on a major boxing site, do they not know about it? ???
And where is Big Jack? :-\

Must be on hol's or something. He would no doubt post a link to his fav site, so in his absence here is a link to a story about it from that site. It is a couple of days old and things have improved a bit for Mundine since this report. Anyway, knock yourself out.

He made 6 million for the Danny Green fight. He'll survive.

don't be a dipshit all your life; im sure alot of people on here don't like him (i'm one of them) but its bad news for him and boxing... sure boxing will surive but he was one of the best SMW's and it's never great lossing a one of the best in a devision, even more so a devision that has got a great deal of good boxers

Re: Mundines sporting career all over
HAHA the funny thing is though, his media personality will still be cocky even if he doesnt fight again. Like someone else said, he will say he could of beat kessler with one eye and then when he gets older he will say he could of beat kessler blind, funny stuff ;D Hope he gets better, hes one of my favourites...plus i know his family and they are very nice people. His mum is very nice and polite and his dad doesnt say heaps buts hes cool too.

Re: Mundines sporting career all over
I've never done anything like washing lens in my mouth!!
But i'm going to be more careful with my contact lens now
Losing eyesight must be really horrible -i hope he proves the doctors wrong by making a full recovery

Yeah, same here, I wouldn't wish that on anyone - talk about a weird story!
-
Re: Mundines sporting career all over
Yea nothing you can do but wish him the best and a full recovery, boxing takes a backseat to his overall well being and quality of his life along with his family.

No it's fine. You make a good point. I was just remembering his dickhead fans that appeared on this forum. I remember not so long again when Ice said he didn't rate him, his fan called him a racist.
I also didn't like Mundine's attitude towards the British. However, I don't approve of wife beating either (unless the ironing isn't done), yet I see the loss of Corrales as sad for the sport. So point well made, have a :coolclick:

Re: Mundines sporting career all over
Well i reckon its in cases like mundines we kinda gotta look at him as a boxer rather than a person yano? Similarly to Floyd, u may not like the person but thats no excuse to rag on his abilities....
Oh by the way bzfkn, u usually seem to be a Hatton defender like myself, u hoping to head to the Mayweather fight?
-
Re: Mundines sporting career all over
I'm not a mundine fan but I have got to feel sorry for him.

I'm willing to spend £1000, and hopefully win my spends in the casino ;D

Re: Mundines sporting career all over
I think that actually works out roughly the same as my own €1500, Failing that i guess i could get it ppv at home n bring an audience, but to be there live would be witnessing boxing history.
