Taken twice in a few years and only getting six months ban......... ???
This fat cheater should be banned for life. Now young boxers know that it is not that dangerous to take roids - very bad signal.
Very surprising, the California State must have had a very good reason to halve his ban, maybe it involves the rumoured damage to his pituitary gland, causing hormonal imbalance.

It would make more sense to just ban him indefinitely.
Im not being funny but this is a total discrace... the guy fights like 6 or more months at a time anyhow... in effect he has had no ban at all... some cunt has been paid fucking off... i thought the 12month ban was a joke; this is a discrace
Both guys were busted for steroids so its not like one had an unfair advantage....level playing field. ha ha ha. Obviously James love to fight and is very competitive. Competitive people often push the envelope to see how far they can go. I don't really think this is his fault but just the nature of competitive people. It is the fault of the commission however. If they really want people not to use steroids they aren't showing it. i really think that they should legalize them if they aren't going to at least try to enforce the rules.
If Toney was not a sucker but a gentleman competitive fighter then he would fight other competitive fighters on equal terms not trying to cheat his opponents.Quote:

Drugs aside this guy is a f**king disgrace, he bad mouths everybody and he turns upto fights with a bigger gut than frosty the Snowman. He is a real bad example to the sport, to call this guy an athlete is a joke he looks more like a darts player to me. Now before everyone sad clicks me i acknowledge what he has done as a fighter but come on not doing the proper training and not sticking to a boxers diet is just sheer disrespectful to the guy that he is fighting who works his ass off in the gym only to fall short to a guy who couldn't give 2 f**ks and relies on natural ability. >:mad I apologies to anyone who is a fan but this guy really gets to me
If Barry can "hold the record" then James Toney should be able to fight. Personally, I think their both phoneys, sad thing is they both wouldve been great without the sh@t.
Although Toney's career is basically over, I don't see what your trying to complain about in this post.. I can agree to the sentiment that using steroids is unfair to other fighters who play by the rules.... But your suggesting that he is disrespectful to his opponents who train their ass off by not doing so himself, instead using his natural ability, even if he wins or puts up a good fight ??? That makes you sound fairly dim imo... If a guy works his ass off in the gym, and still loses to a guy who hardly trained at all, all that's saying is that he came up against a much more talented and schooled fighter.. That's got nothing to do with disrespect.. If Toney signed to fight Klitschko, or somehow got a 3rd fight with Peter(or any big fight) and came to fight having obviously done no training, I could see how it would be disrespectful... But if he wins against a guy who he is simply better than, it's stupid to call that disrespectful because he carries too much weight.. Not to mention the fact that Toney clearly worked long long hours in the gym for years perfecting his skills, so it's hardly all natural ability that allows him to box as he can.. it's his choice what condition he wants to be in now, it's not as if he has needed to pick up new tricks like many fighters..Quote:

Many guys out there would sell their soul to have as much ability as JT but i bet they would never show up in the condition he does.
But you have to remember that James did put himself through hell, early in his career he trained like a maniac to make middle, super middle, basically anything below cruiser he had to really work at... Not to mention the fact that he was sparring all the big dogs at Kronk as a very young fighter.. Id say he's earned the right to at least be in what condition he chooses, and if his opponent isn't able to use that against him enough to win, tough luck.. It's not all natural ability, not even close.... Toney had excellent teachers and has probably sparred as many rounds, or hell fought as many pro rounds as almost any fighter on the planet... He just hasn't done proper roadwork etc. in recent years. That doesn't mean he didn't train his ass off in learning to fight as he can. Would i feel pissed off if I were Sam Peter and I trained my ass off to fight a guy 15 years older than me who started his pro career 80 pounds lighter, showed up looking like a tub of lard and then proceeded to give me a boxing lesson?? Hell yes... But as a fan, do I feel it's disrespectful for Toney to have done so??? Not even close, that just makes me appreciate his abilities a lot more. I will agree the guy is an asshole, but as a fighter he was a very rare talent.Quote:

Tis a joke. Especially when the guy he fought has a longer ban for the same fucking crime!
so maybe they shud bring in a mandate ban for drug abuse within the sport
say 18mths
and everyone has to serve the same ???
I don't think it will make a difference. His chances of winning a major title at HW are gone. His time at the top is over.
I dont know how I feel about this to be honest.
James has been one of my favourite fighters for a long long time but this second banning has left a seriously sour flavour in my mouth. I dont know why the ban has been halved but I do think we the fans deserve an explanation and justification.
With hindsight and this is coming from one of his biggest supporters....he has definitely been on the slide. Admittedly he has contributed to it all by refusing to try and get in the shape he should always try and maintain as a pro. The Rahman fight was awful to watch. Admittedly, I think he beat Peter the first time out, but the second time he was outboxed. Toney being outboxed by a Sam Peter is a serious sign. Yes, Peter was surprisingly good but now I reflect I think the condition of James had to have played its part again. And then there was Toneys last and apparently unimpressive fight. I havent seen it and so have few others and I judge only on what I have read.
Part of me wishes Toney could surprise them all and claim a belt, but another part of me now wants an end to his career what with its recent shamings and the continual issues with his condition.
This is suprising,Cali has a really hard-nosed board
3 boxing stories there and they consist of steroids and prison time. Gotta love this sport. ;)Quote:

toney said it must ave had something to do with the supplements he was taking, sayin they must ave been contaminated. they must have belived him or it made sense cos ufc fighter franca admitted to taking the drugs, nevada were happy he was honest or some shit but still upheld his ban but let toney of cos of his long career.
