Cotto vs Mosley @ the Garden in November...
Not sure if this has been addressed yet…I’m sure that it has…but this is one fight I am SUPER excited about!!!
Miguel Cotto vs. Sugar Shane Mosley!
http://www.fightnews.com/fightnews_2...lNHpXiAwz.html
Miguel Cotto faces three-time titleholder Shane Mosley in November at the Garden.
Cotto: "Shane is a great fighter but he will not be the better fighter on November 10. I will be leaving the ring the same way I will be entering it -– undefeated and still world champion."
Mosley: "Cotto is a great fighter, but so am I, and we're going to light up the Garden on November 10. I don't think I've ever been more excited for a fight. I can't wait to get in the ring and get it on."
Anyone got a pick or thoughts on how this one pans out?
Personally…I have no clue. Being a massive Cotto fan…I’d like to think that Cotto handles Shane…but Shane’s fast as fwock. If Cotto were to pull this one out…I’d honestly be shocked shatless.

Re: Cotto vs Mosley @ the Garden in November...
Shane walks away with a lopsided UD in his favor.

Re: Cotto vs Mosley @ the Garden in November...
Hey Wacky, Judah was fast as fwock too and arguably, none come faster than "Super." I think Mosley will suffer the same fate as Judah-TKO'd!

Re: Cotto vs Mosley @ the Garden in November...
Wacko i can tell you im so excited about this fight i like both guys equally its speed vs power i hope its like Chavez vs Taylor Thunder vs Lightning but not as one sided any fight with Cotto in it will be entertaining and Mosley has exciting style aswell im going with Mosley by decision but i think Mosley will be dropped in the fight but pulls out tough decision i think this fight will be the most entertaining fight out of Kessler vs Calzaghe and Hatton vs Mayweather i think Mosley's style and Cotto's style are made for eachother meaning it will be a great fight i think Cotto will be rocked a hell of a lot in this fight and i men alot i got nothing bad to say about either fighter gl to both mean and may the best man win.

Judah was putting on a clinic until Cotto unleashed a flurry of low blows and elbows, and I think that Mosley is a lot better that Judah.

Agreed...Judah was fast & I gave him a shot, even though I'm a HUGE Cotto fan, but the difference in Mosley, Judah, & Cotto is that Mosley is a pretty good size for his weight & he's shown a good bit of career resilliance against some decent fighters on the comeback trail.
I'd love to see Cotto ruff Mosley up for a win...I just don't see it as being likely.
Mosley's got a massive wealth of experience & Cotto will be the smaller man coming up...even though Cotto's plumped up a bit...I just think that Mosley's a bit more sound in the ring than both Cotto & Judah.

I totally missed that...although I am sure that Judah had to be admitted to a clinic shortly after the match. ;D

He had one and half good rounds i hardly call that a clinic he wobbled Cotto but it was Cotto's pressure that was too much for Judah and broke Judah down physically and mentally.

KO-RECT SIR!!!
:coolclick: Well stated & dead on the money.
Judah couldn't stand toe to toe with Cotto & the low blows, while unfortunate, weren't the deciding factor of the bout. Cotto flogged Judah like a dead horse & that is that. While Judah had spirts of success...there wasn't a pattern or sign that he was headed for anything other than the beating that he was handed.

Re: Cotto vs Mosley @ the Garden in November...
Comparing Shane to Judah is plain hilarious. And Zab's speed did cause Cotto problems...and yes...Cotto's low blows combined with Judah's complete lack of a mental game...lead to a Cotto victory. Breaking Zab down don't mean shite...he is almost programmed to break down in his fights. The thing that amazes me is that some folks seems to forget that Cotto has a suspect chin. He has been put on his butt by much less fighters/punchers than Shane. Shane isn't just fast...he is STRONG, experienced, and has has a great chin. Shane has had problems with rangy fighters who have a GREAT jab. While Cotto has a decent jab...he doesn't have the length of a Forrest or Winky. And i find it funny that some people think that in WAR...Cotto will have an advantage. Shane can bang...he will have speed, power, and footwork...combined with a strong chin. He can come at angles and he can go to the body. Unless he grows old in this fight...he will have too much for Cotto. Should be fun while it last though.

:coolclick: back bro i didn't see any difference in the way Judah was fighting but i did see Cotto switch up a bit and started landing a very hard jab Judah always has started good in all of his losses problem is he can't hold it together mentally Cotto's pressure was too much i give Judah credit for showing guts i thought he was gone in the 9th but managed to last another 2 rounds but overall Judah took a beating end of.

Re: Cotto vs Mosley @ the Garden in November...
Call me crazy, but I think Cotto can hold his own, even if Shane tries to put on a clinic. Cotto has a very underrated jab, and I think he could box with Mosley. If Mosley is as careless as he was against Collazo and doesn't commit to his punches he is going to be in trouble. Mosley was real busy against Collazo, but he didn't sit down on enough of his shots in my opinion. Mosley is strong as hell for a WW, but gym strong and ring strong are two different things, and Cotto is a beast in there. I like Cotto by TKO in a rollercoaster type battle. :)

Cotto was only put down once and that was a push and he was in there with a banger Cotto was very green and has got better since that.
I think your underrating Cotto's power Cotto hits damn hard and them body shots are the key to taking the steam out of Mosley's legs lets see how often Cotto is able to get to the body because that then will tell us was kind of fight we will have.

Re: Cotto vs Mosley @ the Garden in November...
And it gets better guys Maybe just maybe Juan Ponce de Leon will face on the same night Juan Manuel Lopez "Juanma"
;D

Re: Cotto vs Mosley @ the Garden in November...
I'm saying cotto by decision, but its gonna be close if it comes down to the scorecards (might be looking at a SD).

A CLINIC? are you serious?
here is what clinic means in sports terminology: a performance so thoroughly superior by a team, player or fighter as to be a virtual model or demonstration of excellence; rout or mismatch.
A clinic is what we saw Mayweather do to Corrales. RJJ gave to many of his fighters. Those are boxing clinics. No way in hell by winning maybe a round or two am I going to call it a clinic. A clinic of what? Of how to take an a** beating? Cuz that is probably the only clinic we saw.

Re: Cotto vs Mosley @ the Garden in November...
I'm going for Mosley, just depends how much he's got left. Should be a cracking fight. I kind of want Cotto to win a close fight where Mosley shows glimpses of his old self, though Mosley's one of my favourites he won't be around for much longer while Cotto's the future, so I don't want him ruined before he gets a chance to fight some of the Welters around at the mo.

Re: Cotto vs Mosley @ the Garden in November...
Boy do we have an amazing autumn and winter of boxing ahead of us...and this is going to be an absolute cracker as we get ready for xmas.
I like Cotto's body shots, but then again Mosley has been a great for so long so I'm not totally sure either way, but at the moment I'm probably leaning towards Cotto to really cement his p4p place with a pts win.

Re: Cotto vs Mosley @ the Garden in November...
This has got to be boxing's best year!! They have put on a massive amount of great fights or great match-ups. Boxing is coming back! I love it. Don King is fading and Golden Boy Prom. & Top Rank are giving us fans what we deserve!!

Re: Cotto vs Mosley @ the Garden in November...
I would say Cotto by late TKO
remember guys although Shane is still great he is not the same old Shane that you think about when you hear his name. he has not looked amazing or spectacular in his fight against Collazo and he didnt even look that good against a washed up Vargas. Although no doubt he will bring it in this fight Cotto's pressure and his consistency in every round will end up being too much for and old Shane.
Just watch and see.

Sorry, but what fucking fight did you watch?

Re: Cotto vs Mosley @ the Garden in November...
shane by ud for me all the way, he is still fast with his hands and feat, he is a big welter and one of the best boxers in the world still.

Re: Cotto vs Mosley @ the Garden in November...
This is pretty much a pickem fight for me but I'm gonna go with the young lion over the old tiger. This is going to be a great fight with back and forth action all the way. I see Shane giving in a little in the championship rounds and Cotto finishing strong for a close UD.
BTW, I can't believe that there is only one vote for Mosley by KO. This is to me the second most likely result, Mosley can bang with the best.

I cannot believe it either. People say Shane didn't look great against Collazo...first off Collazo is one of those fighters that is hard for anyone to look good against....and Shane still beat him handily. As far as Vargas...sure...he isn't prime anymore....but he was the considerably bigger man against Shane and he is still tough as hell. Shane was able to put him on his ass with a vicious punch in their second fight. Cotto doesn't have a great chin or great defense...so what will happen when he gets caught with a massive Mosely punch? Remember, even though Shane isn't the knockout artist he was at lower weights...at welterweight he still can pack a huge punch to go along with his great speed. Speed almost always conquers power. You add power with speed...as well as experience and a great chin...i just see Shane having too much.

Re: Cotto vs Mosley @ the Garden in November...
Mosley beats Cotto. Will be one of the hardest fights he has tackled though.

Re: Cotto vs Mosley @ the Garden in November...
I think Mosley's power might be a bit overrated. Its all right but he's not that big of a puncher at 147, I mean who was the last guy he knocked out at 147 or 54 except for a shot to absolute pieces Vargas? I had to check boxrec, its been about 6 or 7 years, KO'd Adrian Stone. I mean that's a bit misleading because he's fought guys like Winky and ODLH but I honestly haven't seen that much power even when he was fighting guys like David Estrada, Cruz, or even Collazo although Collazo's a better fighter than those two. I think he's still a good body puncher though and its not like he doesn't hit hard with head shots but I don't think of him as a massive puncher by any means. And I think Cotto's chin is a little underrated.
But having said all that, I'm still kinda leaning Mosley because of the hand speed, toughness, and even though I don't think he's a huge puncher, he's not feather fisted. Great fight though, can't see how it wouldn't be anything but a great fight.

Here's a man who knows his shit.P4P poster. Mosley is a very very good fighter but he was best at the lighter weights. He has been good at 147 and 154,not amazing but if you read some of these posts, you'd think he was some kind of power puching machine. Sure Cotto has been wobbled but he shows heart and I don't see any difference here.
The only thing I disagree with you about Ouma is the outcome, the more I think about it,the more I'm sure Cotto is going to win.His stamina was his biggest weakness at 140,he has been a wrecking ball at 147. He was averaging 70 plus punches per round v Judah and I don't think Shane can live with that speed. Cotto's jab and southpaw stance(when he switches) will help him alot too and his body shots will be too much for Shane who although has good wins over Vargas and Collazo, neither compare to Miguel.
I'm open for SIG bets for this fight. ;D Need to redeem myself!

Re: Cotto vs Mosley @ the Garden in November...
Honestly I think a lot of people are overratting Cotto's abilities & skills.
Don't get me wrong...I love Cotto & I would be one of the people who are overratting Cotto's abilities & skills...but this is Mosley were'e talkin about.
He aint built to buckle like a belt or get pressed like some cheap set of slacks...Mosley is a toe to toe slugger & generally outworks everyone that he faces if they are either near his size or just below it.
Cotto will have the fight of his life against Mosley. There were several scares against Judah, & IWO, Mosley is much more accurate & just as fast.
Someone stated that Judah was the fastest...I totally disagree.
-
Re: Cotto vs Mosley @ the Garden in November...
i think cottos chin could cost him this fight. if he can take mosleys good shots then he could beat him by tko or decision but i don't think that will happen. i think mosley will win a decision or by tko
-
Re: Cotto vs Mosley @ the Garden in November...
Thank god you're back wacko...where would we be without your sense of the comparison:

Spot on! Even at his age...Shane is one of the best conditioned athletes in the sport. And as you mentioned he loves to go toe to toe. I don't see how people can think Cotto's chin is underrated...he has been stunned/knocked down by less skilled and speedy punchers than Shane. Shane is fast and accurate and Cotto's defense ain't great. Sure, Shane isn't a knockout machine like he was at the lower weights...but he still can pack a whallop. For a relatively easy to hit target...that is still plenty dangerous. I also like Cotto as a fighter...he has great heart and attitude. Cotto's age and hunger will make this a great challenge for Shane. But unless Shane grows old and tired in this fight...his speed, skill, and experience will be too much for Cotto. Should be a great fight.
