Shane Mosley vs Pernell Whitaker Prime For Prime At Lightweight Who Wins ??

Interesting one i haven't seen enough of Mosley sadly i really like him as a fighter but its hard to get hold of his fights but prime for prime who wins this ??

Are you kiddin'? Pernell Whitaker would ice Shane Mosley.

Mosley got his butt whipped not once, but twice by a southpaw (Ronald "Winky" Wright).

...And Pernell Whitaker is the greatest southpaw fighter ever lived (atleast in my humble opinion).

i have to admitt that i havn't seen as much shane as i would like to have at lightweight.

We're talking about lightweight and bringing up his jr. middleweight fight with Wright is completely irrelevant.

At lightweight, Mosley was unbelievable (one of the best of all time) but so was Whitaker (ditto)

Even worst. More butt whoopin' coming from Pernell @ lightweight.

Mosley would be a handful for any LW who ever lived, and this is definatly a "pick em" type fight, but I think Pernell would outbox him and take the UD. Pernell was just a master, I firmly believe he'd find the right way to go about business against Mosley.

i honestly think at lightweight mosly wins this fight he was amazingly fast and strong for lightweight, winky was huge southpaw, mosely has trouble wit big guys

Why would i be kidding ?? this is a great match up and don't bring up Forrest and Winky there not good comparsion at all Forrest is over 6 foot and Mosley was way above his natural weight vs Winky.

This would be a tremendous match up. Would Shane's speed and devastating power prevail or would Pernell put on a defensive clinic. Shane at lightweight was a MONSTER but Pernell was just so crafty. I am hard pressed to pick one over the other...but i would have to pick Whitaker by decision. Pernell would have to be at his absolute defensive best though.

IMO Pernell by decision.

I'd go for Mosley by decision in a close fight.

shane's strength at lightweight was unworldy and his punch output was there too...sweetpea couldn't be touched inside a phone booth....

but neither ever faced the likes of the other...hmmmm i'd go with shane's quickness and power...because he'd wear sweetpea down...shane by controversial MD

I sure will tell you that the fight style wise would have ended in a very close Decision for either of the 2.

remembeer tha first fight with Shane and Oscar and the fight Oscar with Pernell

Sweetpea is just a bit to slippery , its a hard choice as i rate them both highly,
if i had to pick a winner would be split points win for SWEETPEA.
but Shane has a great chance

I'm tempted to say Mosely because he would apply pressure and power sweet pea never seen before, but at the same time PW was damn there impossible to hit and just as fast this is a tough one i'm so confused :-\

Yeah I say Shane cuz he hit harder and was quicker . Pernell would struggle big time

Mosley can't deal with southpaw's and Pernell would be too hard to hit. Whitaker by UD.

I would say Mosley would lose in a UD.

Mosley by SD. His workrate would be the difference. He would miss a lot, but he would connect wtih authority enough and I Sweet Pea would be spend so much time on defense that he wouldn't throw enough. He would have a much higher connect % but Shane would probably land about the same amount and get a close decision based largely on his aggression. Shane was just unreal at LW, a frickin force of nature.

I seen enough of both fighters to give and honest evaluation of who was the better lightweight. Sweet Pea was certainly the better technician and easily the crafter fighter. He was also plenty quick; not so much in terms of hand speed, but knew how to offset the other fighter strengths with his quickness and technical knowhow. But Shane as a lightweight was simply a monster. He was easily one of the fastest, biggest, strongest lightweight that ever grace the ring. His body punching was Joe Frazier like with amazing speed and power. As much as I admire the skills of Sweet Pea; looking at their various strengths and weaksnesses I have to go with the Sugarman by a brutal KO in the later rounds.

I'll take Mosley on points.

Shane as a lightweight didnt waste much and was fast its a hard one to pick so I wont. I would have loved to have seen it

At LW this is tough.....Pernell was so slick but Shane so fast....and Shane hit hard at Lower weoghts...I think he went like 38-0 with 35 ko's before his first loss....I would edge Pernell at LW for the MD........At 147 Mosley beats Pernell

I think people are also forgetting that Shane was real hard to hit as a LW. He was very well known for his movement. I'd go with Shane on this one, SP would have had to sit down on his punches in order to land at a high enough rate and it would have slowed his game, causing Shane's power to really make a difference.
