There has been a war of words between the Cintron camp and the Williams camp and I orginally thought Kermit and his team would want nothing to do with PW. I was wrong. Here is what George Peterson,PW's trainer said about fighting Kermit
GP: We don’t need that(Kermit's) belt. There’s just nothing there, you know? He’s a big crybaby. We run from nobody. Nobody. Margarito. Walter Matthyse. He [Cintron] beat Walter Matthyse after we beat Matthyse and tore him apart. He was no more good after Paul got to him. Beat him for ten whole rounds. Beat the brakes off of him."
This is after CONSTANT PW claims that all he wants do is unify..
On the other hand,Emmanuel Steward had this to say:
"if you want to fight the best and collect all the belts and be welterweight champion, call our promoter and let’s do the fight December 8th. “
The only one that is available is Paul Williams but his people don’t even want to talk about fighting Kermit Cintron.’

I like Paul but that's a funny statement. Margarito, ok, he deserves credit for trying to make that fight, but am I reading that wrong or is his trainer implying that Matthyse was something to be afraid of, that he should get credit for not running from Matthyse. ??? That's like Enzo Calzaghe talking about the kind of courage it takes not to duck Peter Manfredo.
Anyway, I'd like to see this fight. I don't think Paul is by any means scared of Cintron, I think his managers just probably think its too much risk, not enough reward. Cintron still doesn't get much credit at all from a lot of boxing fans so Paul beating him might not be recognized as a big achievement by a lot of people.

I just read the whole interview, hilarious. Dude sounds just like Floyd Mayweather, actually I'm convinced that it is Floyd Mayweather just pretending to be Paul's manager. He is dead set against a Cintron fight, and wants Judah. Fucking everybody wants to fight Judah. ;D I don't blame them, Paul would win and Zab's still overrated so he'd get more credit for beating him then he really should.

hat being said, Williams only threw about a million punches so he didn't have time to hold all that much; in fact Tony seemed as much to blame for instigating the holding as Paul. I watched the fight twice and can't honestly say Tony won more than 3 rounds, maybe,lol. Either way, I hope Paul sends Kermit the Frog to his corner crying like he did when Tony beat him silly. I can't stand Cintron after watching him quit and cry with Margarito. I can't wait for the rematch so I can watch it again. Some of the same people who say Tony is hyped up trash say Cintron is a power in the division, yet Tony made him look like a special olympian. I'm sure I won't get any CC's for this thread; oh well I can't stand Cuntron.

Anyone who thinks Williams held a lot against Margarito quite simply doesn't know anything about boxing. How do you get off 1200 plus punches if you are holding too much? I'd hate to know what this guy thinks of Ali. He was John Ruiz compared to Williams.
As far as the prospect of a fight with Cintron goes, it makes too much sense not to it. I hate it when managers/promoters speak on behalf of their fighters. Not a doubt in my mind Williams would have no problem fighting Cintron. Both of these guys are on the outside looking in right now; fighting one another and unifying the WBO/IBF titles would set the winner up for a bigger fight. I think Paul would win a 8-4 type of decision. He's got the beard to take Cintron's straight right.

i cant argue with u about hattons holding being more than williams coz i only seen one fight prior to tonis and it was agasint a guy who looked like he didnt wnt to be in the ring with williams from the start - i sure as hell dont expect you to read all my posts either, but hatton is sum1 i dont rate much anymore, thought he was gunna come goo,d but like williams i have said hatton has been lucky to get away with what he has done, ie he had ben refed by sum1 like kenny in certain fights i do wonder how he would of done... i'm 100% on hatton holds way to damn much
the diffrence between hatton and williams is its come into rickys style sadly... before the tszyu fight i dont think i seen hatton clinch much, he was just a body puncher, nilly the twat graham seemed to develope hatton into a holder for some reason...
williams on the other hand has no need to clinch, if he was worth his salt he would use his size and reach and pervail because of it, not clinch... when i tink of williams i think of herns.. don't get me wrong williams is not herns pfp.. but he was liek him in the sense at WW he had great hight and reach, herns mixed it and used his great skills, williams meets a guy who can test him nd ties him up when he gets close...

I mean, Williams is a likable guy and all that. But he's in a very critical point right now. He has no real reason NOT to fight Kermit. By claiming that Cintron isn't a big enough name, he's coming off looking scared, whether he is or not. And like you very well said, it's not like Williams is all of a sudden a household name himself. If I were him, I'd be careful of not being perceived as ducking anybody at this stage.

The night of the three WW fights on HBO, Cintron's name got put right up there with Williams and the rest of them. Williams wants to unify... let's get it on. The others are busy, PW. And Cintron's calling you out.
Exactly! I was REALLY surprised by Peterson,PW's trainers comments. How Kermit does not offer anything. PW,after every fight,says his goal is to unify.So why not fight Cintron?? Who else is there to face? If he and Kermit are free,and the fight does not come off,we know who to blame! Heck Manny wants this fight!!! ;D And I re-iterate,PW isn't exactly a big name so if I were him, I'd fight whoever I could!!
I mean, Williams is a likable guy and all that. But he's in a very critical point right now. He has no real reason NOT to fight Kermit. By claiming that Cintron isn't a big enough name, he's coming off looking scared, whether he is or not. And like you very well said, it's not like Williams is all of a sudden a household name himself. If I were him, I'd be careful of not being perceived as ducking anybody at this stage.
CC in 24,well said,totally agree. At 6foot 1,southpaw and over 100 punches a round,I would not be picking and choosing who I fight but rather would fight anyone who has the balls to step up.And not fighting someon,as you astutly pointed out,for no apprent reason does look liek a poor decision.
LOL,I've posted so much in this thread but not once have I mentioned a possible outcome. I think PW would be favourite but Kermit has improved since he lost to Margarito and I'd give him a chance. IN fact,if he works the body early,slows PW down,I think he has a chance to win too.

I agree Williams should keep busy a win over Cintron would be great start this will be exciting fight i will be for certain watching this live if the fight happens im taking Williams by decision because even though Williams throws alot his punches aren't very damaging blows Williams impressed me in Margarito fight he boxed very well i think he has best shot at beating Mayweather.

If someone like kenney bailis or a ref who would of stopped him clinching from the first few rounds toni would of taken that fight outright, sur ehe started slow but you watch, up untill round 6 i think he was alowed to clinch, the ref warnned him, ehs topped doing it and lsot every round untill he took advantage of the lats round and help on like a btich again, F*** that and F*** him it was bullshit - thats plain off cheating, thatw as outright stopping magarito being able to hit him.
The clinching wasn't that bad i think your going a bit over the top Willaims won first 6 rounds easy as pie in later rounds there was loads of action and i didn't see that much clinching certainly not anything that i would consider cheating or worth deducting a point for.

Williams is a tall rangy fighter , these fighters have to hold once in a while , Hearns held as well ,
its all part of boxing styles.:)
