He should be fined that heavily for making fans go through that fight
I enjoyed the fight but I'm glad Hopkins is getting fined: that "pre fight" scuffling is boring, overused and LAME, and needs to be cut out.
If you're going to have a prefight scuffle, make it interesting. Larry Holmes lept into the heart of millions by leaping off a car and dropkicking Trevor Berbick. That was what I call pre fight fireworks. This shoving bullshit is just lame.
That nothing to B-Hop, if the authorirties want to cut it out they should fine him far more.
Not to hijack the thread, but is anyone planning on fining Mayorga for all the b.s. he does??? He should be fined for talking about people's families IMHO, not to mention b#tch slapping people who are sitting down. ::**

Well it's hypocrisy pure and simple. These people talk about being professional and setting standards yet somehow it's o.k. for guys like Mayorga to smoke cigarettes and talk about opponents looking like baby bottoms, not to mention sleeping with their wives after the fight and punching people when they are sitting down, and that's o.k. But Bernard sticks his hand on someone's face and: oh no sir, that'll be $200,000 please, you need to set an example. You hold one man to a standard then that standard should be enforced on sh#t-heads like Mayorga. And speaking of fining people, when are they going to fine Larry Merchant for mumbling his way through a fight and Max Kellerman for bobbing his head like a Jack-in-the-Box ???
Not to mention that this incident may well have been agreed to by Winky and Hop ahead of him to get people interested in the fight... This is BS if you ask me.
It was levied by the Nevada Athletic Comission, it was the official weigh in taking place in Nevada and they were within jurisdiction. The other examples given(Mayorga, Vargas etc) you dont know where the altercations took place and what jurisdiction it fell on.
It was the NAC perrogative and right to fine Hopkins, and they did ;)

IS it the Nevada State Athletic Commision that dishes out the fines? If it is then the rules should be hard and fast, otherwise Mayorga would be getting slapped with fines all the time. Maybe the rules only apply for the weigh-ins. Either way the whole thing is ridiculous.
I genuinely think Ricardo has a grudge for some if not all of the fighters he faces! And he is a genuine SOB. Fair enough,you could argue that he should be fined too but at least Ricardo is genuine. This was staged all the way with Hopkins even admitting in an interview that he knew it would help PPV sales(I cna't remember where the link is).
