Re: Im Shane Mosley Fan But Can Anyone Tell Me His Best Fights ??
I would strongly recommend you watch the follwing fights they are all early fights of his career.
vs. Valenzuela - He drops SSM and SSM fights back an early SSM fight. (Valenzuelas the same guy that dropped ODLH)
vs. Holiday - It was his 1st shot at a title, not his best performance but a good one as he crowned himself IBF champ
vs. Molina - A dominant performance by SMM over the tough and rugged vet.
vs. Leija - A full frontal beat down, SSM at his best.

Re: Im Shane Mosley Fan But Can Anyone Tell Me His Best Fights ??
I put this on BoxingBanter.com my views are the same
Cotto has beaten (inorder); Mausssa Ko8th, Sosa Ko4th, Lovemore N'dou UD12th, Kelson Pinto Ko6th, Randall Bailey Ko6th, DeMarcus Corley Ko5th, Mohamad Abdulaev Ko9th, Ricardo Torres Ko7th, Gianluca Branco Ko8th, Paul Malignaggi UD12th, Carlos Quintana RTD5th, Oktay Urkal Ko11th and Zab Judah Ko11th.
Sure Mosley has fought people like Vernon Forest and Winky Wright but 4 loses from those 2 fighters in joint total.
2 Ko Wins over Fernando Vargas and a UD over Luis Collazo stand-out as the best recent victories for 'Sugar' Shane Mosley and he's also scored 2 points wins over David Estrada and Jose Luis Cruz.
Everything for me points at a Cotto victory. I certainly can't see Mosley scoring a Ko over Cotto.

Well you also gotta point out that he did beat ODLH the 1st time around. That's a very meaningful fight there.

Re: Im Shane Mosley Fan But Can Anyone Tell Me His Best Fights ??
The majority of Mosley's best fights are at Lightweight with the exception being the first DLH fight at 147lb, he was outstanding in that fight, i regard that as his best performance.
He destroyed lesser opponents with ease and was totally dominant in the Lightweight division, any footage you find of him at 135lb will convince you he was up there with the all time greats of that division.
Find the Leija fight at 135 and Taylor at 147lb and you will see a destructive force.
I don't think Floyd would have beaten him at 135lb, he was that good!!

I love his fight with de la hoya.it still lingers in my mind. O0

Re: Im Shane Mosley Fan But Can Anyone Tell Me His Best Fights ??
His fight against Eduardo Bartolome Morales is a good one too.

Re: Im Shane Mosley Fan But Can Anyone Tell Me His Best Fights ??
Shane Mosley vs Adrian Stone
Shane boxed great . Ive seen Stone b4 and he did well against Forrest so I thought he was atleast capable of taking Shane afew rounds but he never got into the fight . Shane was so quick and the finish was brutal . Adrain Stone was already unconcious when Shane landed the finishing blow and he needed medical attention . Shame to see him on the floor like that so early cuz he was a good little fighter but no match for a prime Sugar Shane . Nobody was .

Rivera was giving him a lot of trouble but this was his first ww fight and Rivera is a tough fighter who had never been KOed before this fight. Mosley is a great fighter. I think his best was at Lightweight but he defenately made his mark at WW.

Re: Im Shane Mosley Fan But Can Anyone Tell Me His Best Fights ??
Im just getting to the end of his career box set at the moment and I have to say I have enjoyed all of his fights. Both the ODLH fights were good to watch (the first one was the best). He was so lightening quick at lightweight and his bodyshots were top drawer. Another thing that came accross is that he is such a nice guy too and never ducked anyone even if it meant he took a smaller purse he always took on the best fighters.
-
Re: Im Shane Mosley Fan But Can Anyone Tell Me His Best Fights ??
You know this sucks fellas i have found few of this fights but link is not up anymore or i just can't find them shame i was looking forward to watching his Lightweight bouts.

Re: Im Shane Mosley Fan But Can Anyone Tell Me His Best Fights ??
I don't think there is a boring one. He gets after it. Not a guy looking to win on points and cruise through a fight, I think his first couple of fights after losing to Winky were his least exciting. He was trying to box more and intentionally went rounds. Overall I would watch any Mosley fight.
The first one with ODH was a beauty. Actually one of my favorite fights. Both guys put it on the line in that one. I used to think ODH was extremely overrated before that fight.
Now I think he's a damn tough fighter, just a little overrated.

Re: Im Shane Mosley Fan But Can Anyone Tell Me His Best Fights ??
I certainly wouldn watch the Willy Wise fight it was very scrappy....
As for entertainment value, you really cant go wrong with his fights against Collazo and Vargas, Shane looked great!

I've seen the 1st Vargas fight, and I'm not sure if it was Shane on a bad night or Vargas on a real good one.
Mosley came out and took control early and popping Vargas's eye over and over again, swelling it to the size of a grapefruit in the process. Vargas's eye was so swollen, the fight eventually got stopped.
However..............
Down the stretch, in spite of the swollen eye, Vargas turned the fight around in a big way. It was the Vargas of old. Nothing like the Vargas we saw in the rematch (he went on record before the fight saying that he didn't want the rematch, and was only doing it for the money) If that fight were to continue, I think Vargas was gonna win it.
Great fight, you should watch it and give your opinion.

I tried getting it so far no luck im actually quite suprised alot of Mosley fights are quite rare theres only.
Mosley vs Oscar 1 and 2
Mosley vs Winky 1 and 2
Mosley vs Forrest 1 foreign commentary
Mosley vs Stone
Mosley vs Holiday
Mosley vs Vargas 2
Mosley vs Collazo
Theres few others of Mosley's Lightweight fights but download links have run out so far the only ones i have seen are the ones i have just listed i did want Forrest vs Mosley 1 without foreign commentary aswell but no luck i didn't think i would have this much trouble finding his fights.

Re: Im Shane Mosley Fan But Can Anyone Tell Me His Best Fights ??
Icecold - The 1st Forrest fight started okay but just before the 1st knockdown Shane was on the wrong end of a bad headbutt and it seemed to have lasting effects right up until the 2nd Wright fight . He never seemed to be himself until recently .
Now he has got his speed back and is boxing smoothly again he looks a s good as ever . He isnt accepting clinches anymore either

He beat Forrest in the rematch but didnt get the decision. The commentray team thought Shane had won but you never know when its in teh judges hands they could see anything and yeah there was nothing in the Wright - Mosley 2 fight . It was a lightweight vs a light middle and Shane fought on equal terms which pretty much tells us p4p who the better fighter is .

Yeah I dont klike watching that fight for the same reasons . You've got good taste ive noticed
If u remember though Shane was too bulked up for that fight . He was benching loads and as a light weight moving up he needed his speed but he got teh tactics all wrong . He was far too flat footed and watching that fight you couldnt see how he could do better in a return but he did . He boxed poor against Cruz too ( the guy Sharmba Mitchel went on to own ) and at that point I was begining to doubt if Shane will ever get out of this rut but suddenly in the Vargas fights he got it back . Regardless whether or not Vargas was washed up . Shane was quick again and boxing well . Collazo was meant to give him a tough fight too but that was one sided . I wish he fought PBF instead of Cotto though

You know what mate only one weakness i see in Mosley is that when he is fighting a southpaw he moves in the wrong direction have you noticed that aswell ??

Re: Im Shane Mosley Fan But Can Anyone Tell Me His Best Fights ??
I have to disagree brothers,I thought Shane got beaten by Winky pretty easily the second time,it was just that it was more competetive than the first one, giving the impression that it was close. I thought WInky was a clear winner. As for the first Forrest fight,I agree,I think the headbutt REALLY threw Shane off for a while but after that,Vernon's reach and uppercut and that jab(when he decided to use it) damaged Shane. I'm going to watch the second fight tomorrow,I'm sure I scored it pretty closely too.
I think Shane was a beast at lightweight but not so much at the higher weights where although he is fast,he's not as fast as before and he is NOWHERE near as powerful as before! I'm sure I recall his record being 35-0 and 32kos at one point?
I think Shane fighting Cotto is an awesome move and Shane is a warrior, without question but I favour Miguel. :D

Re: Im Shane Mosley Fan But Can Anyone Tell Me His Best Fights ??
I Have To Admit when i saw ssm v. holiday, with his little leopard bikini,i couldn't stand him.maybe it was jim "i call shawdow punches"lampley and merchant drooling all over him.I bought stock though when he jumped up &broke up wilfredo rivera, with passion.rebound v. collazo impressed also.at this moment ,i think he kos cotto ,easily.and i like cotto,no nuts no glory.

I don't know, but it seems to me that Moseley initiates clinches more than ever. He throws combinations and then holds-a lot. Just an observation.
-
Re: Im Shane Mosley Fan But Can Anyone Tell Me His Best Fights ??
He's an older fighter, uv got to expect him to clinch a bit as he obviously cant have the tank he once had.
-
Re: Im Shane Mosley Fan But Can Anyone Tell Me His Best Fights ??
I've been seeing Moseley work out and fight since he was 9 years old- we grew up in the same area, though I'm a decade older. I always thought he was special, as did everybody around him. There was no mistaking it. As a lightweight he was incredible; he fought like a fighter from the 1930s or 1940s, the way he bobbed and weaved and worked the body as he went. But that changed once he moved up.
Yeah, he had flashes of his ability in the Rivera, Taylor, Wise and Diaz fights. But his 'greatness' was built on beating up guys that he had overmatched, size-wise or ability wise. When he fought DLH in the first fight, they fought like they were afraid. Great fighters don't fight that way. In their second fight his body punches had DLH ready to fold yet he failed to pursue his advantage. He didn't fight to win against Forrest, he accepted surviving. Same against Winky Wright. Against Vargas, well, blind pigs find acorns. Against Collazzo...
I would love to see him beat Cotto but I don't know. Shane doesn't committ with punches anymore- he slaps with them, the legacy of John David Jackson training him. He flashes a decent right but that vicious hook is dead and gone, except for the pot-shot against Vargas. But, like I said, blind pigs...
Watch Shane's lightweight fights to see how good he was. And I think his fight against Holiday was brilliant. He won 10 of 12 against a guy that was considered the best LW at that point and made him throw 60 punches a round instead of his normal 140. That to me is brilliant. He totally took a capable world champ opponent foe out of his game and won virtually every round.

I didn't think in the Mosley vs Oscar 1 fight they fought like they were scared they fought a great fight it was fantastic prize fight.

As much as i hate to agree with you because im Mosley fan i have to agree Wright won 2nd fight in similar fashion to the 1st Mosley was more spirited and gave it is all but even the rounds that Mosley won were close but Mosley made it tough and i respect Mosley for giving it his all i had Wright the winner by 3 rounds i just watched it again recently i remember when i was younger i had it alot closer probably because i was being biased but still Wright won convincly now at moment im trying to get a hold of Forrest vs Mosley 1 and 2 and Mosley vs Vargas 1 i would like to see 2nd Forrest vs Mosley fight because GAME said that he thought Mosley won i also read a boxing article and they scored it 114-114 so it looked to be controversial and the first fight i watched bits and pieces of it i see the knockdowns they were brutal.

Re: Im Shane Mosley Fan But Can Anyone Tell Me His Best Fights ??
Mosely's hook did dim as he climbed weight divisions. But his ring generalship seemed to grow as he went up. His feet became more planted, he made the opponent react rather than move himself and at every weight he made the opponentrespect his power. Wright was an exceptional fighter, a gifted natural light middle and he simply was a step too far for shane as shane simply couldn hurt him enough to force him to give ground.
-
Re: Im Shane Mosley Fan But Can Anyone Tell Me His Best Fights ??
The thing I noticed is that as Shane moved up weight classes he stopped throwing so many punch combinations and started to concentrate on what his Dad/Trainer called Power boxing. This meant he was looking to land the harder single knock out punches instead of throwing the fast combinations that he he used at lightweight. Its been his later fights (Jose Luis Cruz/Collazo) when he dropped down a weight again to welterweight and swapped trainers that he went back to more boxing instead of looking for the single knock out punch. Either way having just finished his career set I have to say that he is now one of my favourite boxers and I think he will beat Cotto and hopfully get his shot at PBF.

Re: Im Shane Mosley Fan But Can Anyone Tell Me His Best Fights ??
Well after the Vargas beatdown n the performance against Collazo id tend to favour Mosely against cotto too. I think he'll be far to comprehensive a boxer for the raw cotto.
