Julian Jackson vs Felix Trinidad Who Wins
This would be slugfest i doubt it would go 5 rounds i think Jackson can ko Tito early because Tito had habit of getting knocked down early and Jackson hit like a truck infact probably hardest hitting p4p fighter ever Tito is better boxer both men have weak chins i think Jackson by ko early prolly about 3 rounds maybe less once Jackson hits you clean its all over Tito has good power but not that one hit ko power Jackson has whats your opinions guys and girls ?

Re: Julian Jackson vs Felix Trinidad Who Wins
Well i could go into an analysis of why and hoe and centre my arguement around the fact that Jackson was the naturally bigger stronger man....but I really dont have to, Jacksons punches speak for themselves. Jackson in rd.3-5. Brutally.

Re: Julian Jackson vs Felix Trinidad Who Wins
I really can only make one prediction...the fight will not last 6 rounds. As for the winner, who knows. The first man to get hurt would lose.

Why is it that everyone says Tito has a weak chin when he only lost once by TKO and that was against Bernard Hopkins when his dad stopped the fight in the 12th round?  He might have got dropped a couple of times in his career but always got back up to knock out his opponents.  If anything that proves he does not have a weak chin? ????? If he can take a punch, get back up, and knock a guy out.  I don't know at least that is my humble opinion. ;) As far as who wins, I beleive Tito would have won thier match up, his problem style is a boxer, and jackson is more of the power puncher. Tito has never had a problem with that style of fighting. But it would have been a great fight if they would have got it on in the squared circle, good topic!

Re: Julian Jackson vs Felix Trinidad Who Wins
In a match like this, it really didn't matter which guy has the better chin or who had the harder punch. It is all irrelavent because neither of the two could take the other's punch. The first one to get one big punch through would win.
I would give the edge to Tito because he was the more technical boxer and better defense.
I have to see more of Jacksons fights to be sure. I really have not seen a hole lot of him. I'm still a rookie fan ;).

Re: Julian Jackson vs Felix Trinidad Who Wins
In my opinion Tito never had one punch KO power at 147+
I assume this fight would be made at 154+
Jackson at Middle Had the Grim Reapers right hook, everythin he threw was "big."

He might not have that one punch KO but he definitely had a punch to get anyone's respect. He could make anyone dance with one shot, that's for sure. He is also one of the fiercest finishers in the game. Add to that his complete punching arsenal. He is wrongly called a one handed fighter. He had a very solid straight right hand. If you look at fights like the one with Joppy, he put him down with the left hook but not before he hurt him with the right.
Julian Jackson had without a doubt the most power of the two but Tito had a better offensive arsenal IMO. Still, Jackson would have a size advantage and I would still consider this a toss up, who gets hurt first, kind of fight.

Re: Julian Jackson vs Felix Trinidad Who Wins
Good post Rookie fan.
I like tito a lot, found him an amiable, appealing sort of a fellow.
I also thought as a national icon he was extremely well grounded and one of the "good guys." Always loved his style, (as it's not all that unlike my own!)
I'd give Tito the Nod against the majority of fighters at 147. However his power, although respectable did not travel well on the journey from 147 to 154. I actually felt his best weapon at LM and Midlle was his jab and i thought he had done very well apart from the Hopkins and Wright fights.
But.....Julian Jackson, i'm not a fan so please don't mistake me for a misguided worshipper. But my god, what SCARY power at Middleweight. And the McClellan fights illustrated he had a good chin also, to put up with McClellans sinister straight right for five rounds was testament to his endurance and will to fight.
I just feel the size discrepancy would be too much for Tito, although who knows the emergence of the best "big" trinidad may be yet to come.

Re: Julian Jackson vs Felix Trinidad Who Wins
times like these that there were a time machine
who ever get hurt first losses
-
Re: Julian Jackson vs Felix Trinidad Who Wins
Jackson would hospitalize Trinidad.
-
Re: Julian Jackson vs Felix Trinidad Who Wins
HaHa thats how they should measure the really big punchers.
Now entering the ring with 12 wins 12 KO's and 10 hospitalizations....

I actually didn't mean to say Tito had weak chin i meant to say he had suspect one but he could take shots agree but imo he got knocked early too much and was too easy to hit and when your in with murderous puncher like Jackson thats asking for trouble.

Re: Julian Jackson vs Felix Trinidad Who Wins
No no no Tito had a very weak chin. He had heart, but no chin and a lot of his knockdowns came early. Heart is the will the to get back up, having a chin is being to take a punch and not get knocked down. He was knocked down atleast 10 times in his career maybe more. Jackson had no chin either but had the strength of a horse. He was naturally bigger than Tito to. When Julian hit Tito he would not have gotten back up. This one would be over in about 4 to 5 rounds. Not to take nothing away from Tito but this would have been ugly!

Re: Julian Jackson vs Felix Trinidad Who Wins
i think Tito's chin was slightly better, than Jackson's and well yea i think it would be a win for Trinidad similar to McClellan's TKO over Jackson
-
Re: Julian Jackson vs Felix Trinidad Who Wins
Jackson was the pure puncher. He lacked the footwork and boxing ability that Trinidad displayed up until his last three or four fights.
I picture this fight unfolding with Jackson coming forward carefully, as he always did, respectful of Trinidad's punch, while Felix moved in wide cicrles to avoid Jackson's power. About the third or fourth round Trinidad would tighten that circle and begin to push Jackson. Julian would fight like hell about this but Trinidad had too much hand speed and was too good a combination puncher to lose out in this. He'd ko Jackson- his chin wasn't all that- in 7-10.

No it wouldn't Jackson was past his best when he fought Gerald and Trinidad is nothing like Gerald at all Tito gets caught early this has happened alot in his career Jackson by KO in 3 rounds or 5.

Re: Julian Jackson vs Felix Trinidad Who Wins
Tito best weight was at Welter but he was very destructive at Super welter too. He beat an unbeaten Vargas and Reid who both may have out boxed Julian Jackson. Remember McCallum beat Jackson so it was possible to stop him and Tito could do that. So at light middle I go for Tito and at Middle I go for ???? do not know..

Usually i agree with you, but in this arguement we couldnt be more different. Vargas could never have outboxed Julian Jackson, nor could reid i think. To compare Reid and VARGAS to Mike McCallum in my book is near blasphemous. Vargas was a good prospect, but he is not/was not and never will be a great, he will be forgotten among the other talents of his era.

Re: Julian Jackson vs Felix Trinidad Who Wins
You really do not rate Vargas do you but it is a debate for another thread.
I never intended to compare Vargas and Reid to McCallum, sorry, all I was saying was Julian Jackson was beatable and Tito was good enough to do it. It would be a hell of a fight.

All throughout his career i hated Vargas. But grudgingly i respected him as a good fighter. However i dont rate him as a memorable or great fighter no. He showed great heart, resiliance and courage against Trinidad, but that was really his crowning glory. So i must correct myself, he may go down in history. But only as a boxer remembered for a glorious failure.
Jackson was indeed beatable, Gerald McClellan demonstrated that.
P4P tito may have beaten him. But in reality Jackson was a much bigger man.
One thing we agree on, it WOULD have been a hell of a fight!

Re: Julian Jackson vs Felix Trinidad Who Wins
Make no mistake, Jackson was a punching monster. I personally think he would have over powered Tito and end it within three rounds.

Jackson was much too powerful for Tito. Tito's aggressive style would have made Jackson's day.
-
Re: Julian Jackson vs Felix Trinidad Who Wins
Tito beat better fighters at light middle so that is why I have gone for him. If Julian Jackson landed Tito would not get up that is for sure but because he fought and beat better opposition I would just bet on Tito. Terry Norris nearly beat him and McCallum certainly did.

Re: Julian Jackson vs Felix Trinidad Who Wins
at 147 & 154 there aren't many punchers I'd pick over Tito.
-
Re: Julian Jackson vs Felix Trinidad Who Wins
Agreed but at 160 you would have to go for Julian he did a lot better there than Tito.

Re: Julian Jackson vs Felix Trinidad Who Wins
Tito spent too much time on the deck for my liking.
Granted, he virtually always got back up to win, but if JJ had put him down, he would have stayed down.
Jackson's power was from another dimension! :deadnew:
Jackson by KO in about 5.

Plus most of Tito's knockdowns were in early going but if Jackson knocked Tito down early Tito wouldn't be getting up.
