The Real Kelly Pavlik
Kelly is showing his true colors by trying to renege on a contract he had with a pair of co-managers. I personally know them and Pavlik is being a d***head about the whole situation. I will post a link to several articles in the Youngstown Vindicator about the lawsuit he has filed against his co-managers that were there for him before he became famous and now that Kelly has stepped up into the limelight he is back stabbing the guys that were there for him when he was a nobody and pappa TopRank was not paying for everything.
I am interested in others opinions after reading the articles.
On another note Kelly has been seen still drinking heavily at the bars in and around Youngstown while Taylor is training his ass off in the Poconos. I have been Kelly's biggest supporter but after what he is doing to a friend I can not continue to back him but I wish him the best.

Re: The Real Kelly Pavlik
I appreciate your displeasure with Kelly... But speaking for mysely I can tell you, to me it dosent really matter what he does out of the ring as long as he isint a murderer or a pedophile etc. If he performs than thats why I cheer.. This stuff happens all the time in sports and celebrity its unfortunate that it effects you since its someone you know. ;)

Re: The Real Kelly Pavlik
First off, your links don't work. Second, I went to the Vindicator's website and pulled up an article. Pavlik had a three-year contract with Anthony Scandy that Scandy is trying to extend to include Pavlik's fight with Taylor. Pavlik is maintaining that his May 12 fight with Miranda was his last under Scandy, however they have a contract that states if Pavlik is injured then his contract should be extended for the duration of the injury. Both sides have to agree to when the injury occurred and when he was healed from it and sign on it, but Scandy maintains Pavlik's people didn't fulfill their part. In fact, now Pavlik's people deny it ever happened even though Pavlik is quoted in another article that "I found an opening and hit him with a straight right and pain just shot up my shoulder," in referring to sparring partner, Shawn Porter, in preparation with the fight with Edison Miranda that was supposed to happen in January of 2006 on the undercard of the Pacquiao/Morales fight.
Hopefully, I summed it up okay.
This is going to have to be arbitrated. I think in the long run, Pavlik is going to have to pay something, just not the regular 13% he had been paying because it isn't clear cut. Scandy has been repaid all the expenses he took care of for Kelly, car, cell phone, stipend, etc., but a contract is a contract. Who is it who said a comprimise is where both sides walk away a little unhappy?

And you have to know how this reads after what you said about Pavlik already. Unless you can substantiate this you sound like you have some huge sour grapes. If Pavlik is stumbling during his ring entrance I'll buy it then.

Re: The Real Kelly Pavlik
As long as he get's the job done in the ring.....most won't care. Boxing is a shady sport this type of thing goes on behind the scenes all the.

????.......okay ::**.............
Not tha facts I got ( from a better source then the paper) but if you say so........
As for him drinking I can't say I know or have heard anything about that but if by some small chance it is true then he will learn the hard way when he fights Taylor........
I think Kelly is a bit smarter then that though

Re: The Real Kelly Pavlik

Totally agree, what he does outside the ring is irrelevant (even murder, it's as natural as taking a piss but we don't want to admit it O0). As far as the drinking I would take that with a grain of salt, since this is his biggest fight of his career and the drinking story makes sense.. Probably an attempt to build an image of some sort (that ignorant white people who sit around and do nothing but drink can relate to :))
Have no doubts that Pavlik's putting the work in that he needs to and it's gonna be a brutal fight.

Re: The Real Kelly Pavlik
The real Kelly Pavlik volunteers him self for charity. The real Kelly Pavlik is a humble fighter. I don't think you are getting the whole story.

Re: The Real Kelly Pavlik
Is this the article you are talking about?
http://www.vindy.com/content/sports/...nal/pavlik.php
I have drank with Ricky Hatton, Miguel Cotto and Kelly Pavlik. They are nothing more than a bunch of pop belly drunks. There is not a night that goes by without one of these guys starting a fight at a bar or night club.
I also smoked crack with B-Hop the other day.

Re: The Real Kelly Pavlik
Pavkik is sueing for a declaritory judgment.
Meaning that these other two dudes are probably threatening him with law suits, so he is going to the court to ask them to "declare" whether he owes them anything or not.
I dont see anything wrong with that. You dont expect him to just let these two schmucks keep him worried about his finacial future when he has a big task a head of him.

Uhh ... you're not that fellow who lives just down the street from me, are you?

Re: The Real Kelly Pavlik
It was a matter of time before Kelly started getting bad publicity but as someone already said , he is still a good fighter so what he does outside teh ring as long as its nuthin too serious then why would we judge him ?
Im hoping he beats Taylor and I think his punch power is being underestimated going into this fight . Taylor would have never met a guy with power like this and he felt a few of Coreys last time remember

Re: The Real Kelly Pavlik
Kelly is just trying to protect his money. The lawsuit is to determain if the contract is still in affect or if it is over. The contract states that in case of an injury, both parties are to sign off on the date the injury occured and the date that he returned working. Neither party signed off on anything, and if they are/were so concerned about it, why didn't they sign off then, instead of going after it now when Kelly is actually coming in to some money. Answer- they weren't sure if Kelly would make it then, now that he is, they want some of the pie!!!
As for him going out all the time drinking heavily, that is false. I won't say that he hasn't had some. But he also belongs to a dart league and goes out to throw darts 2-3 times a week. It helps to relax him. And he does drink some,,,,,,,,,, water!!! Again I won't say he hasn't drank some kinda alcoholic beverage, but he is training 6 days a week and for the last couple weeks has been heavily. I don't think he is going to screw up his oppurtunity like that.
I am sure that if you were coming in to millions of dollars, some of your old friends would be seeing how they could get some of it.
As far as Kelly's true colors, I will have to agree with Southakron, his volunteering for charities and raising money for sick children! That bastard!!! How dare he do crap like that!!!! Get the whole story before commenting on what type of guy he is.

Re: The Real Kelly Pavlik
Taylor and crew has really been doin there homework not a southpaw my ass. he fights orthadoxed but look at what hand he writes with. Lefty . Thats why they say he can knock you out with either hand. That jab has to hurt.

Re: The Real Kelly Pavlik
as long as kelly pavlik kicks butt in the ring.. its all good.. watch out jermain taylor
-
Re: The Real Kelly Pavlik
I tell you what, I was completely and utterly wrong about Kelly Pavliks skill set and dominance before the Miranda fight.. I had to eat some major crow that night when he beat my fighter Edison Miranda.. But I went back and looked at some fights with Pavlik and coupled that with his dominance of Miranda and he made a new fan with me*!!! I think Kelly has the balls and heart to take the title away from Taylor who has seemingly lossed his zeal and hunger to be the Bona Fied Middleweight champ of the world
* just to clarify, I am still a huge Edison Miranda fan and have not sold him out, but Kelly is the real Mccoy and I am a fan of his too

Re: The Real Kelly Pavlik
Well im backing Taylor in this one, I think taylor simply fights to the level of the opposition. If a fighter fights kinda dull n slow(B Hop) we'll get an equally dull reaction from taylor. If a guy comes chargin at him and ready to go to war (Pavlik) i think JT will rise to the occassion and provide fireworks of his own.

I dont know, I really think the fight with Winky took some of the piss out of him, I mean he was swinging for the fences while fighting Ouma and didnt even put a dent in him, then he fought Spinks and in a lot of peoples opinions he got outboxed and those 2 guys are natural Welters. Now he is fighting a destructive puncher that is the same size as him and has a ton of heart. I got to go with the hungrier fighter. Miranda is a lights out puncher and Kelly took his best shots and Taylor dosent hit nearly as hard as either Pavlik or Miranda

Re: The Real Kelly Pavlik
I get what ur sayin JT, and for once the challenger may justifiably be favourite.
However personally, and i do stress personally as i really am shoutin for JT, i do believe that Taylor has more to show. He may not be as lacerating a puncher as Pavlik or have the Raw power of Miranda but he does have sufficient power to KO other middles.
This fight is an acid test for Jermaine, im goin puttin money on him to step up a gear and take Pavlik.
Although having seen the Spinks fight id be worried about the trainer fighter relationship there.

Good points either way... One thing is for sure, it will be impossible for us to be dissapointed with the pace of this fight ;)

Re: The Real Kelly Pavlik
Yeah thats for sure! Pavlik is incredibly well conditioned, altho never the fastest. (Which is another factor i feel might count for Taylor.)
To Be honest man, im finding it incredibly difficult to defend Jermaine Taylor as he really hasnt given me any grounds for optimism in his last few fights!
