Fight Night 4 - A Fan's Dream -
CAREER MODE
(My vision of a career mode that i believe people would actually WANT to play).
-You start off as an amateur of course... With a ranking sheet.
(At that time you are either in a crappy appartment (Rocky 1 style) or on the streets.
-Once you become amateur champ , you can either turn pro right away or compete in the olympics and shoot for gold... Then , enter the professional ranks.
-Once pro , you build your career , form rivalries (Good ones) no more fighting a (8-3) Roy Jones jr..
(When you have enough money , you can rent a decent place to live.)
-You have access (in your appartment) to a laptop and you can go online to check the ranks.
(Current ranks and Pound 4 Pound list)
-When you start having mild success , you start fighting on the undercards of payperviews , and spectating boxers are scanning you from the crowd.
-Then you start getting called out by better and better boxers , people are starting to notice you.
-The fights pay more , you can now get a decent trainer , buy a small house and build a gym in it where you will start buying your own equipment.
-When you become ppv main event material , you get interviewed by Larry Merchant at the end of your fights where , depending on what you answer , fans will label you as a good or bad guy , class/no class , he'll also ask you who you would like to fight next and so on...
- You are now the #1 contender , (If you have captured olympic gold earlier , then this comes faster)
- You get to fight the champ... If he's not ducking you ...
- You are part of the press conference , pictures are taken.. There is a huge hype.
- When you beat the champ , people want your title! , you defend it well , you are popular , you buy a massive house , people cant beat you wether they like you or not , you're untouchable.
- You now have the opportunity to go up againt the pound for pound champ , you will need to gain/lose weight to meet him , the hype is bigger than ever!
- Once you beat him , there is a huge frenzy , everyone wants to make weight and get your attention .. Of course , you pick who you wanna fight , they just can't beat you , legends come out of retirement just to fight you...
- It's time to retire , but the game is far from over , you can now form your own promotion company and compete with other promotion giants , you can also start a new career as your own son , with your "dad" as your trainer/promoter , you start off as living in his mansion and ultimately try to surpass him.
ONE LAST THING PLEASE
please , once you complete all this , you can unlock somekind of "Mayweather" difficulty where its like 5 times harder than hard so we can actually have a challenge.
-
Re: Fight Night 4 - A Fan's Dream -
lol to the to Mayweather difficulty setting i hate how EA have said that the computer learns how you fight when it clearly dosnt if you just punch were they dont parry they wont hit you back...
the career sounds pretty good being p4p champ and stuff lets hope EA read what we have asked for and give us a quality game with a quality Career mode
-
Re: Fight Night 4 - A Fan's Dream -
More fighters, gimme Mayweather, gimme Kelly Pavlik, gimme Tommy Hearns, Mike Tyson.
Insert the Ring Belt-good publicity for real title.
HBO Commentrary: would it not be the best game ever, an improved FN along with the best commentary.
More real refereeing. Wheres the ref???? Better stoppages a bit of controversy please???? Real Muh-Funkin trainers, sick of freddy look alike and buddy's dad gimme manny, Angie Dundee n Bill Graham.
Not just everlast, more selection grant, cleto reyes, lonsdale, they could rake in money from sponsors as well as allowing us to completely customise our fighters.
Actual Ring Entrances. I wanna hear Blue moon echoing through my house as Ricky Comes in wearing the blue jacket.

Re: Fight Night 4 - A Fan's Dream -
I'd like to also see some intermediate titles available on the way to the world championship, kinda of like where you have to beat opponents in certain particular to get in their top 10 rankings before working your way up to fight for that particular title.. Obviously you'd get no official licensing for real ones but some made up regional titles would be good. I much preferred the freedom of FN Rd2's career mode to rd3 and that's something I hope they return to for the next one.

Re: Fight Night 4 - A Fan's Dream -
i wish the people that make the game are actual boxing fans too.
-
Re: Fight Night 4 - A Fan's Dream -
All sounds good but has anyone even heard of any plans to make a fight night round 4? I heard ages ago that HBO had bought all the rights off EA but i dont know how true this is! ???

Re: Fight Night 4 - A Fan's Dream -
Yeah there have been talks of fnr4 but heard nothin off hbo???

Re: Fight Night 4 - A Fan's Dream -
I reckon Spring '08 might be the time ;)
-
Re: Fight Night 4 - A Fan's Dream -
I heard they were developing a motion controller similar to the Wii for the next installment.

There are some good ideas in there, it almost sounds more like a boxing RPG rather than just a straigh up sports game.

Re: Fight Night 4 - A Fan's Dream -
Firstly for me FN Round 2 was the best boxing game ever...
But for FN Round 4 firstly i would like to have good control then of course more boxers at least 2 champions of today from each division...
Like Heavyweight : Wladimir IBF - Maskaev WBC
Midleweight : Abraham IBF - Sturm WBA
There should be better ring intros too like i liked the ones from Knockout Kings 2001 in PS1 when they show each boxers records and all was so realistic but in later EA boxing games they cut the intro scenes and made them more simple...

In Knockout Kings 2001 was 2 real refs... Mils Lane and Richard Steele... Of course it should be 2 in the new Fight Night real refs makes better atmosphere...
Would like to have Joe Cortez and Jay Nady... ;D

I was actually alluding to the fact that there is no ref present in the riing at all in the fight night games....

Re: Fight Night 4 - A Fan's Dream -
All the Reyes gloves, the announcers and the refs would be great but that is only increasing the cost of what it'll take to get this game made. You have to pay all these people for their participation. I would much rather them spend the dough on actual game development and maybe let some of that stuff fall by the wayside (although it would be nice to have). As for extras, I would like them to go out and collect as many of these fighters as possible to put in the game, skip the trainers and refs.
-
Re: Fight Night 4 - A Fan's Dream -
Another Idea,
Fight night, should have an option to develop a fighter in your online career.
But the areas of development should be much braoder...
Aside from Unlocking Base Styles, Puch Styles, Signature Punches etc, they should actually be ugradable and even have the capaticty to be refined to better suit yor own unique prefferences.
At least then, every fighter would be different.
Also, they need Downlaodable content. You know, Paulie Malagnaggi's latest hair style or Loui Collazo new Tattoo ::**

Re: Fight Night 4 - A Fan's Dream -
Here are my wishes for the next fight night. Some are taken from other saddoboxing members and some are my own. If I had the money to invest, I would pay the EA guys to make what I wanted. Lol.
*Realistic time frames. You may choose what era you want to fight in. I don't want to fight modern and Ali be the champ. It isn't realistic.
*Add out-of-ring lifestyle stuff. As you get more money and more famous, you may able to buy new houses, find a girlfriend and marry. Have children. Cars. Stuff like that. Anyone ever played the EA Football Managers? They have this stuff and it's a pretty cool addition. You can't literally interact, only make small interactions, but it's pretty neat.
*Interactive training system. As you get more money, you can buy bigger and better gyms. More gym equipment with the more expensive ones helping you get stronger, faster etc quicker.
*Entourage. Select who escorts you to the ring. Includes entrance music, models, trainers, bodyguards etc etc.
*Extreme Realism. Can be turned on or off. Includes death. That is in Extreme Realism mode, it is possible to die in the ring, rarely, based on age, health, strength compared to the opponent etc. Can also include injuries either from training or fights, that can vary in recovery from a week to months.
*More interactive interviews and weigh-ins. Reporters ask questions and you can respond with one of the available responses. Your response can influence the crowd's support.
*Referee in the ring. Speaks for itself.
*Fight contract negotiations. The ability to negotiate the price of a fight with another manager.
*The ability to watch other fighter's fights. Watch replays and watch how they move etc so you can learn from it. This may also include better news reports of other boxers not just yourself, so you can see whose being impressive and who'se to atch out for.
*Manager/Trainer Mode. Like the FIFA games. Be a manager/trainer and lead a fighter to victory.
*Other additions, which become available as you get richer and more famous may include better trainers, hire nutritionists, strength coaches etc etc. Each one will have different skill levels and specialities and affect how well you do.
Just some ideas from my side...
-
Re: Fight Night 4 - A Fan's Dream -
They are some good ideas by all. I would like to see olympics aswell, that would be great to have a more expansive amatuer career.
Also include different belts, be able to unify belts and move up the p4p rankings. Make the training better, by including more variables to the stats. So when you do a sparring session the less times you get hit your defence could get better, etc.
Theres so much room for improvement in this game, and with the new blue ray disks they could od so much more.
-
Re: Fight Night 4 - A Fan's Dream -
I love the idea of making the career mode more indepth - almost a Boxing Manager type scenario as long as they don't neglect the game play because I feel there are improvements that can be made there too.
Get rid of the parry it's so unrealistic (and I say that as someone who can use it quite well in the game).
There area lot of fighters that could be included but I guess it's down to cost that they are not there...
-
Re: Fight Night 4 - A Fan's Dream -
I like Lucky_13's ideas about injuries, the referee, watching other fighters, and contract negotions.....I do think dying in the game shouldn't be available though.
Here are my ideas
* Make the game tougher...I can KO anyone WITHOUT TRYING! The game is too easy and it's waaaaaay too easy to KO someone. I love KO's but decisions are a part of the game and a HUGE part at that.
* More realistic knockdowns and knockouts...shaking like a guy who has been hit by lightening isn't how people are KO'd! Fighters are KO'd or knocked down because they are out of position, are countered, are set up with punches, and are just plain over powered or over matched in speed. If you hit someone with a haymaker then they will go down or at least be stunned and also if the fighter throws a haymaker then the other guy usually sees it coming and can counter....normal punches KO fighters more than haymakers in the real life sport. Fighters are KO'd these ways: KTFO - out cold, eyes closed, good night sweetheart Floyd Patterson vs Ingemar Johanssen II, KO'd Silly - They flop and fall around the ring and can't help it Mike Tyson vs Trevor Berbick, Stamina TKO #1 - they can't punch back they ran out of gas Wlad Klitschko vs Ross Purrity/David Haye vs Carl Thompson, Stamina TKO #2 - they have taken too many shots and can not physically fight back Gerald McClellan vs Nigel Benn, Stunned KO/TKO #1- A fighter gets rocked and then is finished off with a flurry of punches Ray Mercer vs Tommy Morrison, Stunned KO #2 - A fighter gets rocked one time and then is taken out with one thunderous blow Shannon Briggs vs Sergei Lyakhovich, Bodyshot KO - A fighter is hit to the body, has a delayed reaction and drops down to the canvas either on a knee or face first De la Hoya vs Hopkins/RJJ vs Vigril Hill/Ricky Hatton vs Jose Luis Castillo.
* Create your stance...sure they gave you choices for stance and punching type in FNR3 but what difference did it make? NONE! You should be able to make your own stance and this will affect your style and affect how you fight other fighters....your footwork needs to be more a part of the game. If anyone has played Tiger Woods Golf then you know what I am talking about here....posture and guard being created by the user would be AWESOME and it would make other fighters styles seem more different as well.
* Individual punch attributes...overall power and speed are good but they also leave the strategy out of the ring when the attributes are this general. Lennox Lewis had a hell of a right cross and upper cut but his other punches were not on the same level as that...those were his bread and butter shots, same with Tyson and his left hook, uppercuts, and overhand right. Those individual punches should be given attributes of: speed, power, and accuracy. Therefore you can use punch X to set up punch Y and boom strategy has entered the game!
* More emphasis on Ring Generalship and Defense!

To generalize, i agree..
THE BIGGEST PROBLEM in all of the fight nights, is how much you can hit a person, and how long it takes to knock them down/out.. VERY unrealistic.. If it was more realistic, you'd have so much more intensity between you and your friend cause every punch would count..
think of it, if you've ever played with your friends, the times you get at the edge of your seat is when you're in that 'zone' where you are vulnerable to get knocked down.. well if the whole fight (if you're using a power puncher) is like that then it would be intense!
-
Re: Fight Night 4 - A Fan's Dream -
A momentum meter thing would be a nice addition...all other EA sports games have stuff like that.
And it can shift by the fighter who is down: landing a haymaker, countering effectively, winning a round by a large margin, or causing a knockdown.
It would be pretty cool I think
-
Re: Fight Night 4 - A Fan's Dream -
Hi,im a big fan of the FIGHT NIGHTS series!I was hooked from the first addition(FIGHT NIGHT ROUND1) on the old Xbox and i think that was one of the best ones out in the series so far.The second one(FIGHT NIGHT ROUND 2)had new additions from the first game,in which you could move around the ring while you've got your guard is still up.But i was'nt impressed with the American commentator voiceover...a bit frustrating at times. The commentator from the first game was best i thought!I love the graphics on the FIGHT NIGHT ROUND3 on the PS3.The IN THE RING mode is a great addition which only the PS3 owners can appreciate!!I really look forward to the FNR4 to be released soon i HOPE that there put more new features in the training mode e.g,Skipping,Jogging,Speed ball,Floor to Ceiling ball,Sit ups,Medicine ball.

Re: Fight Night 4 - A Fan's Dream -
OK I thought some more and how about these:
* More Venues in different areas - if you think about it all they would have to do is change the name of the venue all you're going to see as a fighter (before you get to the big time, I'll explain this more later) is the ring.
* Pre-fight hype - sure you want weigh ins and press confrences BUT how about an HBO World Championship Boxing or Boxing After Dark style lead in with a guy like Jim Lampley giving a story of the fighters and talking about the venue (let's say Cesar's Palace, The Superdome, Madison Square Garden, MGM Grand and The Boardwalk etc) and what historic fights have happened there, Harold Lederman giving the rules, and them discussing strategies, the histories of the fighters, strengths and weaknesses, and the ever important tale of the tape and hopefully that would actually mean something in this version.
* Home cooking/Home crowd advantage - If you have more venues then maybe when you fight farther away from home (either where you actually hail from or where you train) you should be booed more if you're young and no one knows you or you're Floyd Mayweather Jr., and if you're a celebrated fighter you should get a big boost from your fans cheering for you...nothing crazy but just lots of cheering and maybe the other fighter is affected negatively or something, being intimidated or whatever. There should also be sheisty decisions and scoring and the announcers should bring it up and argue about it....it's all a part of professional boxing. You should also be able to be a World Superstar like Ali and be cheered wherever you go
* Gyms/Trainers - sure they had gyms in other games and trainers as well but they should put some more stuff in here. Have the REAL gyms in there giving out some free pub for this sport and places where men are molded to be fighters: Kronk, Gleason's, Wild Card, The Poconos, Big Bear, etc. And all of the gyms give you different benefits OR your trainers teach you specific styles of fighting and either be good for you or bad for you and present problems when fighting certain fighters....OR they could be training another fighter who ends up being a rival of yours starting out in sparring or the amatuers. Any way you need current trainers in there and maybe an option to make your own and you can train your own stable of fighters like a Football Manager or something
-
Re: Fight Night 4 - A Fan's Dream -
Sign up Buffer or Jimmy Lennon Jr. too. I loved Knockout Kings '99 when we had Mills Lane as a ref and Jimmy doing the intros.
I'd also like introductions to be made while fighters are in the ring. The records should appear on screen (they don't need to be introduced as it would be very hard to change this for every fighter).
-
Re: Fight Night 4 - A Fan's Dream -
i hope they make a PC version of this game too.
-
Re: Fight Night 4 - A Fan's Dream -
I want to see some top British fighters like Chris Eubank.
