Don't worry you'll get to experience it all over again when Calzaghe fights Kessler, as it's Kesslers ring entrance now >:mad

I'm not a fan of Eubank but that song always got me ready for a fight.

Re: All the Brits will understand why this still makes the hairs on my neck stand up
Eubanks entrances were the best in boxing in my opinion. Cheesy song, pantomime villain, pumped up crowd= great entertainment.

Re: All the Brits will understand why this still makes the hairs on my neck stand up
It needs the crowd, the atmosphere and the anticipation to make my hair stand up, otherwise it just makes my skin crawl ;D

;D ;D Great track and it is a boxing anthem.
Eubank and his ringwalks with that music blaring was entertainment.. sometimes more entertaining than the actual fight.

Re: All the Brits will understand why this still makes the hairs on my neck stand up
He really WAS F****** ITV for a few years, Averaging 15 million TV's tuning in (including every single pub and club in the country, ie 90-95% of the population probably), taking him a good 3mins to get to the ring with that song blaring out, people craning their necks to get a glimpse of him (not just in the arena, but in every pub and club in the country), and then the nostrils widen a few more inches, the chest rises a few more inches, the back muscles widen a few more inches, and the nostrils widen a further inch, he preens the apron, prowls, whips the country into a frenzy "Euuuuuuuubank! Euuuuuubank!!" and then, after a few seconds pause, up and over he goes.... "SIMPLY THE BEEST!"
Ledge.

When Eubanks fought Benn for the first time and his subsequent fights on ITV he was very good, but when he went to Sky and had that silly contract of making million pound per fight he was handpicking the worst fighters possible and they were awful fights with few exceptions. It was after the Watson fights admittedly and the road death which did affect him but the fights were terrible and he fought down to their level. He had a great chin but he made his money out of his early performances against Benn and Watson but truthfully he could not live with Roy Jones, McCallum or Herol Graham but that early version would have beaten Steve Collins with ease.

Agree with pretty much all of that.
He had all the tools, but post Watson he always just did the bear minimum to win - very frustrating.
P.S I reckon he would've stopped Bomber Graham in the 11th or 12th after losing every round ;)

Re: All the Brits will understand why this still makes the hairs on my neck stand up
I am not going to reply to the Herol Graham comment, but I just have. I have heard he did drop Graham during sparring but got battered by him and he never ever wanted to fight him. Also Eubanks lost the second fight to Benn.
I also read Eubanks autobiography and it is mainly waffle but one of the most interesting bits of it was at his dads funeral in Jamaica, he only found out that his dad use to beat his mother. Rather than leave it, he goes to the front and says what a terrible man his dad was for that and nearly got killed and was chased out of the country for saying that. Just showed me he is a man of conviction, even if it is wrong.

Re: All the Brits will understand why this still makes the hairs on my neck stand up
When Eubank was asked about defending against Bomber after Malinga he said "Only in a ring 10ft by 10ft, because only then I'd be nearly guaranteed to win."
It's also interesting that after his demolition of Denys Cronin, he says "Michael Watson, (and) Nigel Benn - you are not capable of beating me. My skills are far superior to yours. Herol Graham is the only fighter in this country who can touch me. I would say that I am the only fighter in Europe who can probably beat this man (Bomber) - I know how! I have to know how.."
It's well-known in circles that Eubank was the first person to ever put Bomber down, and how you could hear a pin drop in Wincobank when everyones long-time hero/superman was down, but then he got up and stood Chris on his head apparently and everyone cheered with each tap landed, before Chris storming out in a huff!

Re: All the Brits will understand why this still makes the hairs on my neck stand up
Graham was a good chin short of being a very good long term world champion and an all time British great
-
Re: All the Brits will understand why this still makes the hairs on my neck stand up
Except Benn 1 and 2nd Watson fight i never did quite get into Eubanks fights and i didn't like how many gift decisions he got aswell i just could never get into Eubank fight.

Re: All the Brits will understand why this still makes the hairs on my neck stand up
Graham had a decent chin, Julian Jackson could knock out heavyweights, it was his legs that gave way at the end of his career. Eubaks got my respect back after his defeats against Thompson and Galzaghe. His heart and chin were immense even if his boxing skills was good but over eggaerated and pompous.
