Marquez - Barriors? Or Marquez-Juarez?
I been wondering this actually, I feel Marquez vs. Barriors would have been a one sided but explosive fight. I’ve seen Juarez only fight twice which was against Marco Antonio Barrera part 2 & on the under card of De La Hoya-Mayweather. I think this should actually be a closer match up. I think Marquez will of course win but this will be actually closer in my mind then Marquez vs. Barrios but I would rather actually see Marquez vs. Barriors & Guerrero vs. Juarez.
What you guys think? None the less I think it will be a war!

Marquez vs. Barrios
I've pretty much boycotted Rocky Juarez fights because all he ever seems to do is lose, yet it does nothing to diminish his chances at a title shot.
He's just cashing out on being fortunate enough to have fought MAB on Barerra's worst night ever (Juarez vs. MAB 1) and having it be a close fight. Barerra schooled him in the rematch, and so has every other top fighter he's stepped in the ring with since.

Marquez-Barrios would be far better. Juarez is overrated because he caught Barrera on a horrendous night for Marco AND STILL LOST !!!! Marquez is a better technical boxer than Barrera and MAB gave Juarez a boxing lesson in their second bout. Marquez would destroy him.

I disagree about Marquez being technically better than Marco but I do think he is capable of achieveing a similar result against Juarez .
Its a bad mix of styles . It will probably make for a boring fight with Marquez controlling from the outside but Juarez does carry enough power to keep it interesting . Marquez has proven he cannot take a punch at this level without going down . He is more fragile than Barrera so Juarez may get to him if he sustains the pressure .
Raheem was a good win for Juarez against a mover but my gut feeling is he will be on the wrong end of a lopsided UD again .

Both JMM and Juarez are highly skilled fighters.
But Juarez punch harder, and JMM has soft chin.
JMM by decision, or Juarez by KO.

I would rather see Marquez vs. Barrios. Barrios style makes for an entertaining fight. Rocky Juarez is a plodder and I can see JMM jabbing his way to a boring 12 round decision. Juarez is too content to let the fight come to him and when you have a boxer like JMM hes not going to do that. He will be content to stay on the outside and jab him all night with Rocky following him around all fight. If JMM brings the fight to him then it should be a barnburner, because isn't afraid of toe to toe action, but he needs to learn how to be more of an initiator than a receiver.

This would be an easy fight for jmm, barrios brings excitement but his at best a tune up for jmm. Juarez is one of those boxer that can never get over that last hump, jmm will school him.
I want to see rematches!!!! pac jmm 2 or jmm mab 2

Marquez should beat Juarez, but expect to see Juarez land his bombs every so often. Marquez should win handily, but if caught could make it harder for himself.

I dunno, I'd rather see the Juarez fight. Barrios got outboxed badly by Joan Guzman so, tuff and aggressive as he is, the same result would happen with Marquez. Juarez seems lazy to me and only looks for the big right hand over and over, and so he too will get outboxed and possibly stopped, but he does have one punch KO power and could possibly knock out Marquez. He's also a better boxer and harder to hit than Barrios. Juarez has the better pedigree IMO, he's the better fighter.

I'm one of the 3 people on this board who actually likes Rocky Juarez and appreciates the fact that if nothing else, he's a tryer. However, I think he's sacrificed a world title for more money. Juarez could easily be a world champion at featherweight, and IMO would have taken Guerrero yet opted to take a fight he'll more than likely lose. Marquez to win on a wide UD for me.
Having seen this thread, I took it upon myself last night to sit and watch Barrios is fights against Freitas and Guzman, both of which he lost. Even in defeat, this guy impresses the hell out of me. Barrios was superb against Freitas, and I think a fight with Marquez would have been a much closer, exciting fight and certainly a fight with a more deserving challenger.

Did he get back up? Hell yeah and against whoever dropped,he outboxed and outfought them for the rest of the fight. Secondly,JMM is one of the most technically astute fighters of this generation and definitely top 3 for counter punching.

I think Juarez will have his moments in the fight IF JMM comes forward,as he has been doing in his last 4 fights. If he counter punches,he'll easily beat Juarez. He just needs to be weary of the left hook,which is hugely powerful but other than that,Juarez has very little else. Little movement,can be open,pretty slow etc. I'd be disappointed if JMM didn't win although I don't envisage a stoppage,Soto beat Juarez ass and wobbled him a few times but could not stop him.

He hasn't been stopped,he was dropped 3 times by p4p one of the hardest punchers in the game and came back to win the majority of the rounds,was dropped by Norwood and came back to win most of the rounds,and dropped by MAB and won the fight? Name me some other fights he's been rocked,I saw him take BOMBS from Terdsak and Jaca and stay standing.
And no offence,because you're one of my favourite posters but to say he is easily put down from punches that are good but not great does not make sense.What is a good and great punch?
I can understand the confusion though with regards to chins,I have this debate all the time with Cotto/Tito naysayers who say they have a weak chin,get wobbled etc but my argument is how often are they stopped? Their chins can't be that bad then can they? ;)

I kinda disagree with you here Gamo, about the chin factor... THe thing is, yea Marquez, Cotto, and Tito(to a less extent, he's had more balance issues imo) can be hurt and rocked, put down... But the fact that they come back to win doesn't prove that they don't have weakish chins... It proves that they have a granite will to keep fighting, and massive heart, that they can still fire on all cylinders and stay confident in the worst of times... See if you ask me it's almost all about a fighters mentality.. Some guys get hurt or put down by a punch, and they start to question themselves, they are afraid to get hit again, which makes it easier for the opponent to finish them off. Im talking about your Zab Judah's of the world here. If you think about it, Zab's chin itself probably isn't much worse than any of the aformentioned guys. The only person to actually KO him was KT and it was a devestating punch p4p, that may have put Cotto or Marquez out as well . The difference is guys like Tito, Marquez or Cotto, who don't lose composure no matter what they get hit with, and never stop believing in their own ability to hurt the other guy. Just my two cents on the matter, but I don't think you can argue that mental makeup has a lot to do with it. Anyone can get knocked out cold with the right shot, some guys can be hurt with simply a good punch... But it's the guys that keep fighting as if nothing happened as long as they are still upright who do best when that happens. THe reason I believe this is that there aren't many elite, absolute top level fighters who are rocked often. Those who are, have to have that fire in them, you know.

Jmm does not have a weak chin, his been drop and rock but who hasn't? People are quick to judge but its not fair to say a fighter has weak chin just because someone saw one or two fights of him getting rock. MOst of the people that are quick to lable fighters with weak chin have no clue what they are claiming. The tito and cotto are good exampls El Gamo, I have to mention my boy pac too. Many people use to always say pac has a weak chin becuase he got k.o'ed twice in his early days, but those same people had no idea that those knock out lost weren't even chin shots they were body shots. Anyways Jmm is one of the most underestamated fighters out there. When he was knock down by pac three times in one round, the only one that really put him down long was the third punch. His one of those tough fighters, even if you put him down he'll get up to beat you. Thats what makes jmm so dangerous and why I think his the biggest treat to pac. Unlike the other fighters, once they get drop they start doubting themselves. jmm if you drop him gets piss and comes back warmed up and ready to give you all he has. A soft chin is when a fighter gets drop but never gets back up. Jmm doesn't stay down!!!

People are quick to judge but its not fair to say a fighter has weak chin just because someone saw one or two fights of him getting rock. Many people use to always say pac has a weak chin becuase he got k.o'ed twice in his early days, but those same people had no idea that those knock out lost weren't even chin shots they were body shots. Anyways Jmm is one of the most underestamated fighters out there. When he was knock down by pac three times in one round, the only one that really put him down long was the third punch. His one of those tough fighters, even if you put him down he'll get up to beat you. Thats what makes jmm so dangerous and why I think his the biggest treat to pac. Unlike the other fighters, once they get drop they start doubting themselves. jmm if you drop him gets piss and comes back warmed up and ready to give you all he has. A soft chin is when a fighter gets drop but never gets back up. Jmm doesn't stay down!!!

Marquez vs. Barrios
I've pretty much boycotted Rocky Juarez fights because all he ever seems to do is lose, yet it does nothing to diminish his chances at a title shot.
He's just cashing out on being fortunate enough to have fought MAB on Barerra's worst night ever (Juarez vs. MAB 1) and having it be a close fight. Barerra schooled him in the rematch, and so has every other top fighter he's stepped in the ring with since.
Actually Soto did it first.
Rocky...... is better than Barrios, but I'd rather watch Barrios fight Marquez. At least there would be action.
This has the makings of a pretty average fight that turns out long and to a decision.
Juarez doesn't even deserve to fight the top 10 fighters of his division. heh

Almost all Pac's knock downs against Morales was from accumulation/heavy volume of punches. I said "almost" coz Manny did nail Erik with a perfect left hook in the 1st KD (3rd fight).
Morales' chin isn't weak. He got tagged viciously with that left hook coz he executed an all or nothing - kamikaze move. He didn't even see that punch comin.

For fucks sake, these guys are punching each other in the face...you take so many shots over your career it's bound to take its toll at some point. A quick recovery from it means you have the ability to shake it off and get on with the job. To me, thats the sign of a good chin.

a strong chin is taking lots of good shot not falling down or even if they do fall down they still get back up and take more good shots and last the whole fight if not gets stop standing. a soft or weak chin is really determine when a fighter gets hit with a good shot or not even a good shot but does not get back up or does get back up but still gets knocked out or last til the end of the fight but avoids punches for the rest of it.

Morales' chin isn't weak, BUT it IS weaker than many people think. As a matter of fact I predicted a third round knockout in the Pac fight. Erik has just so much
will and "
dare to be great" attributes to get knocked out.
Almost all Pac's knock downs against Morales was from accumulation/heavy volume of punches. I said "almost" coz Manny did nail Erik with a perfect left hook in the 1st KD (3rd fight).
Morales' chin isn't weak. He got tagged viciously with that left hook coz he executed an all or nothing - kamikaze move. He didn't even see that punch comin.
Your a Pacquiao fan, so I wouldn't expect you to know that much more about Morales.

I know him as a great fighter and kind gentle person. I saw him once in person @ SD mall, pushing infant stroller along with his wife and some family members. What you see from him on TV is what he really is.
