Well Oscar says he is going to retire next year but who should he face?
Also just a side note- This is just some match up’s I’m trying to build up I guess. I actually think the winners of the Cotto-Mosley Hatton-Mayweather bouts should go against each other, but if we can somehow get De La Hoya up in their since his name alone draws millions of fans even though he has lost 3 of his last 5 fights. Well that’s what I’m doing here, seeing where can De La Hoya fit in all this greatness.
Question that’s been buzzing me my fellow Saddo’ boxing brothers. I mean wow it’s the end of a legend’s career, his last fight or two if he plans to fight again next year after May, but who should he face?
The winner of Cotto-Mosley? Hmm Oscar’s wife told Oscar to not fight a Puerto Rican fighter for the fact she is from Puerto Rico. Hopefully he can convince her to change her mind but it’s a real personal thing so who knows. A bout with Mosley for the 3rd time, hmmm not really to much attracting to me. I mean De La Hoya defitely won the 2nd bout of Mosley-De La Hoya but you already know the major controversial decision. With 2 losses to Mosley I don’t think a 3rd match would really be interested for fans. The 2nd fight was horrible so yeah who knows.
The Winner of Mayweather-Hatton?
If Hatton can actually beat Mayweather, Probley a rematch lol but I cant see Hatton facing De La Hoya even though I originally wanted Hatton to fight De La Hoya instead of Mayweather. Who knows though it would be an aggressive battle I think. A rematch with Mayweather, I know lots of the casual fans would not order that. They complain of the lackluster and no fireworks in that match. It was an okay match in my mind, It was greatly hyped but I would for sure go with May weather again. I would really stay way from this guy and I think May weather does not even want to fight De La Hoya anymore.
Paul Williams?
Paul Williams looks busy as he seems to be now wanting Kermit the Frog Cintron who was originally suppose to be on the under card of Vargas-Mayorga. Now I hear he will fight on Dec 1 against Clottey. Hmm I think it would be a great match up and it would be really close to call. A great match I say, but Paul Williams should fight Kermit the Frog cintron to unify those titles he’s talking about. So I don’t see Williams fighting De La Hoya either
Kermit Cintron?
Hmm he’s Puerto Rican, so he’s in the same boat with Cotto.
Antonio Margarito?
Man I would love to see that! It would be a really close fight, I think De La Hoya would take it up but It would be an amazing fight. The Tijuana Tornado vs. The Golden boy at 147. It’s also real good cuss both are coming off losses. I mean for De La Hoya now its about pride since he’s going to retire that year, but for Margarito it’s a climb back up in the ranks. I think this would be a great match up!
Zab Judah?
Last but not least Zab “Super” Judah. According to eastsideboxing.com Judah wants De La Hoya for the fact Judah believes he can handle De La Hoya. I Disagree and I personally think if any one is going to get knocked out it’s Zab Judah, but none the less this match was talked about before Zab fought Baldmoir. So let’s make it happened! I pick De La Hoya to win.
What you guys think? sorry I wrote so dang much! Just really wandering who De La Hoya is going to fight, hmmm I doubt he will fight any of the champions cuss I don’t think De La Hoya right now deserves a title shot. De La Hoya would haft to fight Zab Judah or Antonio Margarito in may(And wins) Should fight in late fall of 08 in order to fight a champion right now.

To be honest and i might sound harsh here but i don't really care who Oscar fights anymore he is part time fighter.

Re: Well Oscar says he is going to retire next year but who should he face? (Lon
I would like to see Delahoya fight Vernon Forrest since that fight never happened. If Forrest beats Delahoya, then he's right back in the mix.
I'm not sure if Vernon can make 147 anymore, but if he can then he would be right up there with the big names (based on his showing against Baldomir)

TITO TRINIDAD:
Oscar goes out in style by avenging his first lost. Yes indeed. Tito will rise again after he defeats RJJ and then will fight Oscar to give us the fight we wanted to see many years ago. This fight should be held around 158 or 160. This is his best fight. Forget the Millie (wife) thing. If she loves him, she'll forgive him. This fight should be held in Puerto Rico since both reside down here and will be another huge attraction next summer. Oscar will prepare like never before and walk out in style by defeating Tito Trinidad!! Happy trails to both he and Tito. They've given us plenty excitement throughout the years. (not against each other though).

Re: Well Oscar says he is going to retire next year but who should he face? (Lon
IMO he has only two options open to him and that's Forrest or Wright at 154lb, Forrest at least has a title to fight for. He won't make 147lb again and there is no doubt that the winners of Cotto V Mosley and Hatton V Mayweather will meet next year.
A Tito rematch won't happen, DLH won't fight again at 160lb either. DLH is over as a major player now anyway.

What makes you so confident when Tito's best weight was Welterweight got dominated at Middleweight and is moving all the way up to Lightheavyweight to fight Jones and if by some major upset Tito does win you think Oscar will move all the way up to Supermiddleweight or Middleweight where he done bad at Middleweight ??

Because that is the info Oscar has been giving the media down here. Puerto Rican fans want the rematch to happen and are on him now that Tito is coming back. Oscar is a fighter who tries to please his fans. He said that "he might have to change a few extra diapers" meaning he is going to fight a Puerto Rican. He is not going to fight Miguel Cotto because he'd have the whole island againts him. Tito is his best oppertunity since many fans think Tito disapointed them by selling himself out in the Hopkins bout. I think Hopkins just wupped his ass! "He said Tito wants him to move up to 160 but Oscar said 154 no higher than 158. (sorry I wrote 160 in my previous post). This is perfect for him and Tito.
Tito is coming back because he is selfish and and wants all the glory for him. He is jelous that Cotto is beginning to win over the island and now he wants to try to get back to the top. Tito is that kind of person.....loves the attention. He also is coming back for cash. He is a huge gambler in cock fighting. Believe me, I've personally seen him lots and lots of times.
Oscar isn't going to fight a Puerto Rican, but he'll fight Tito if the oppertunity presents himself. Mosley, Mayweather (already seen it). Hatton is most likely going to lose and lose his value. Cotto, he live up to his promise with his wife on this one. Williams, too difficult to win and doesn't have the superstar name in him yet. Margarito, needs a huge win to even be considered. Judah..."B" class fighter at welterweights. He needs to move up and fight Tito. I know that Tito came back for Oscar & Jones.

Re: Well Oscar says he is going to retire next year but who should he face? (Long on
even though I believe oscar has enough to beat some of the top fighters I believe he should just retire. oscar doesn't seem to have that killer instinct which he displayed early on in his career, even in the mayweather fight oscar didn't show any passion as it was the fight of his career. whoever he fights will be the event of the year which would again be an injustice to the current stars who are craving for some spotlight in the sport.

Re: Well Oscar says he is going to retire next year but who should he face? (Lon
I think Oscar's best option is Forrest. If Trinidad is victorious over Jones then a rematch at a catch weight would be great.
-
Re: Well Oscar says he is going to retire next year but who should he face? (Lon
somehow if trinidad beats jones there could be a rematch but it doesn't interest me much.

you're smoking crack if you think that Wright will Ko DLH, he'd probably beat him at anything above 154 but he won't KO him no way no how, he couldn't hurt Quartey or Trinidad, much less hurt DLH

Tito wont rise again even if he beats RJJ (which i seriously doubt he will), because it'll be a hollow pointless victory, similar to Chavez's second win against Frankie Randall, the DLH/Trinidad rematch had to take place 7 years ago, not now

Re: Well Oscar says he is going to retire next year but who should he face? (Long on
The only options for De La Hoya IMO would be to fight the winner of Mayweather-Hatton(would've preferred Hatton to have fought DLH first before going after Mayweather).

I honestly believe he will fight Hatton at 147 (if he can make 147) regardless of whether or not Hatton wins.
They've been talking about it long enough. I think they will do it.

Its not crack, ;)I do not see this fight actually coming off,it makes no scense for either one.I do believe winky could put it together and put some hurt on DLH.Not in a one punch effect, more so he'll be more flat footed and has been in deep waters lately, inside, rough and tumble style.Winky still retains the inside defense In company with that jab and willingness lately to give and take.DLH is no middle weight ,And in comparrison to quartey And tito not being moved by winky,DLH was hit and hurt by both.yeh, wright w.tko 11/12 ,call me crazy.

Re: Well Oscar says he is going to retire next year but who should he face? (Lon
Oscar has almost as many Puerto Rican fans as Tito so I dont see any reason he couldnt fight him, except that Tito is gonna get beat by RJJ and retire for good. Vernon forest would be a good fight and probably his best option. Maybe a fight with Cotto even if he loses to Mosley I think hes still a big draw. Mosley isnt a good fight for him and there is little interest in it. These guys have spent a lot of time in the ring toghether fighting and sparring plus they do business toghether so this one aint gonna happen imo.

For the record, he DOES have a lot of fans down here. But your statement may have been exaggerated just a tad.

I know it had to take place 7 years ago. Me and you know that, but the ignorant fans will pay for whatever. They will build this fight up so high that it will probably sell more than the last. I'm not a huge Tito fan, as crazy as it may seem, but I respect him for he has done. I honestly believe he will pull in upset against RJJ. Late ko. That will lead him to a mega fight with DLH or the winner of Calzaghe/Kessler. Don't think Tito is a gimme against RJJ. I love RJJ but he drops his hands alot in fights. Especially late in fights. Tito lives off of fighters mistakes!

Zoo has been talking about coming out of retirement for a minute now, that would be the most interesting fight imo! KT might have to move up to 147 if he came back anyways, so it could work out. Both are past their primes, both were great champions...
Why did they never fight at 140?
Oscar has ruled out his potentially most desirable fights by saying he wont fight Cotto or Mosley (or Tito)
I dont have much interest in Hoya-Hatton especially b/c they will both be coming off losses to the same guy.
