VITALI KLITSCHKO-JAMEEL MCCLINE OFF
By Scott Shaffer
Mike Borao, the attorney for heavyweight contender Jameel McCline, confirmed to Boxingtalk that Vitali Klitschko, citing a back injury, has called off his comeback bout. Klitschko, a former WBC titlist, was slated to face McCline on September 22, 2007 in Munich, Germany but Klitschko's promoter, K2, informed Borao that the fight is now off. Borao had no further comment on the matter. The second half of 2007 was supposed to be a run of great of fights for boxing fans but Klitschko-McCline is the third major fight that has been scratched off the boxing schedule this month, following in the wake of Fernando Vargas-Ricardo Mayorga and Juan Manuel Marquez-Rocky Juarez.
Could this be the end again for Vitali?

Vitali pulled out again ?? disappointing thats 2 fights he has pulled out of now he should just retire.

Re: Vitali v MCcline off!!!
In some ways, this might be a blessing in disguise, because I was worried about Vitali getting in the way of Wlad's attempt to unify.
However, I was still looking forward to watching this fight, and it sucks to have to wait all the way until the 29th for Taylor-Pavlik.
-
Re: Vitali v MCcline off!!!
ooh what a suprise. Vitali has an injury, not like him to pull out of a fight so it must be serious ::**
This guy makes Audley Harrison look lion hearted >:mad

Re: Vitali v MCcline off!!!
Alright! Thats it! Vitali needs to take his tall lanky ass either back here to L.A. or back to the Ukraine. >:mad
I think this is the appropiate time to post this picture.
Let's make fun of the Klitschko Bros. ;D
*For the record Wlads hair was photoshopped to make him look like Eddie Munster. :D

It is very disappointing like when he quit against Byrd when he was a mile ahead on the scorecards and now pulling out of 2 fights makes me question his heart but when the Klit fans read this they will tear into me and you im sure 8)

I am a Klitschkos Fan, I followed/follow both Klitschkos I think Wlads the best Heavy. since Lewis.
I don't think anyone can beat Wlad right now and the only one fighter who I think would push him close to the edge is Evander.
I was just telling it like it is with Vitali, plus I had that picture of them and I wanted to post it. ;D

Re: Vitali v MCcline off!!!
I wouldn't be so hard on Vitali, it's commonplace in all sports for injury to be the cause of retirement or inability to play. Boxing is no different and considering the physicality and the degree to which the fighters train, it's a miracle we don't get more injuries or postponements. Ok, thats 3 cards for 3 weekends that have been wiped out in a row but I can't remember a hat trick like that in my years of boxing.

Well there is room for criticism Dan alot of people will be questioning his heart and im one of them.

Re: Vitali v MCcline off!!!
I personally dont feel bad for Vitali at all. I feel bad for his opponents who train their @sses off to fight. Hes obviously injury proned and thats why he retired. He should have stayed retired for that reason cause he knew damn well that he gets hurt easily.
-
Re: Vitali v MCcline off!!!
I'm sorry to see that Vitali is out again. I'm a huge Klitschko fan but maybe it is time for him to retire.
-
Re: Vitali v MCcline off!!!
If you are surprised by this then you were probably surprised by Tyson's arrest in Arizona too. This is 5 in a row now. Imagine if he had got the fight with Maskaev instead of Peter, what a mess that would be.
It just makes me even madder about the situation that people actually wanted this guy to step in in front of Peter. What a complete joke, I can't believe the audacity of him and his camp to have thought they have the right to waltz back in whenever they wanted. Bullshit.
I'm sorry but I have absolutely zero interest in Vitali Klitschko. Give up on the guy, his biggest win was a loss to Lennox Lewis.
I'm fine with Wlad, he's a fine fighter who has earned his top spot and he DEFINITELY doesn't pull this stuff. I'm sorry but 5 missed fight dates in a row and it's well past just a run of bad luck. There is something else.
If he decides that he wants to come back and maybe even show up at the weigh in, then his next fight needs to be against Rob Calloway, because we can't have someone actually important to the division being tempered with by Vitali's silliness again as has been the case with Peter.
-
Re: Vitali v MCcline off!!!
Its not a huge surprise so Im not gonna get mad over this. I find it hard to imagine Vitali making a play at the top now.
Too old and injury prone.

He's already retired. To be classed as a comeback I think you need to have at least one actual fight.
Maybe he can try again in 2008 and fight on a card with Naseem Hamed as the chief support. They could hold it in Never Never Land and Elvis can sing the American anthem for Mcline.
-
Re: Vitali v MCcline off!!!
A fair few fights getting cancelled but at least the Superfights are all still going ahead. Fingers crossed.
I bet Sam Peter must be annoyed after all Vitali did to stop Sam fighting Maskaev and Klitschko is not fit anyway.

He was trying to comeback from retirement which was forced on him because of injury. What do want him to do, fight through injury to satisfy your entertainment needs? Come on get real.
He should just stick to calling it a day.
-
Re: Vitali v MCcline off!!!
Vitali should stay retired. Wlad is young, hungry and it's his time now. I feel Vitali coming back would get in the way of Wlads attempt to unify. I also really want to see Wlad-Peter II. They're the top two heavies out there right now.

I am real you don't think its disappointing him pulling out of 2 fights now when other guy has trained his ass off ?? if he has injury's then he should just retire and stop wasting everyones time and most importantly stop wasting his opponent's time.

VITALI INJURED - FIGHT CANCELLED
http://www.fightnews.com/fightnews_2...FQXoolfjG.html
Quote:
Former heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko will be out from four-to-six weeks following arthroscopic back surgery on Saturday night. While warming up, Klitschko felt a sharp pain in his back. He was operated on the same night by Dr. Klaus Twerdy at the University Clinic in Innsbruck, Austria, to relieve a herniated disc. "This is unbelievably bad luck," said Klitschko. "I've been in intense preparations for 9 weeks, had no problems whatsoever, and then a disc goes and slips in my last week of training. I was in prime shape, and was looking forward so much to my match. I feel especially bad for our TV partner and for my fans who were looking forward to the broadcast or who had bought tickets for the match in Munich. Now I'll have to wait and see how it heals and then plan the next steps with my team."

Re: VITALI INJURED - FIGHT CANCELLED
If he could have just made it to the fight he would have been fine. Mcline would've probably ktfo of his own leg like against Valuev.
Vitali's back gives out, then Mcclines leg gives out, there goes vitali's shoulder, mccline's wrist cant handle the action..
Wouldve been a great fight of who's body falls apart faster ::**

Don't be so hard on yourself, you do give a great blow by blow. ;D

Re: Vitali v MCcline off!!!
dammit vitali!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Re: Vitali v MCcline off!!!
Because of injury/lack of fights/misfortune whatever, Vitali although being the more talented of the pair may actually end up being overshadowed by Wlad. Although Wlad has had some disasters and huge set backs he has come back and made the ffort to re build, and each time he has re built a better repuatation. Vitali will have his repuatation forever marred by his submission against Byrd and due to whatever reasons he has been unable to redeem himself. He's unlucky, he coulda been a great.
-
Re: Vitali v MCcline off!!!
anyone who puts the label as "coward" or someone of less heart, because someone cant fight through an injury is just a simpleminded moron.
-
Re: Vitali v MCcline off!!!
Ur a pretty negative person huh deuce?
-
Re: Vitali v MCcline off!!!
nope, just call it like i see it. Dont like it? dont read it.
when I see people say a fighter needs heart to move on when injured, blah blah blah is pisses me off because its coming from people whom probably never felt pain the way a professional athlete has, and tried to continue doing whatever it is, they were doing when they got injured. When i see someone say something like that with no regard for the athletes health, i forget about being "a nice guy".
I dont have much time to stroke peoples ego's. However, when the opportunity presents itself to joke around alil so be it, this isnt one of those times.
-
Re: Vitali v MCcline off!!!
Sure i agree with the logic, but why meet negativity with negativity?
How does that help improve the situation?
You call them simple minded morons which is quite obviously derogatory yet you made no effort to educate them and illustrate your point of view.
Ur post just served to satisfy ur thirst to insult someone, it had 0% contribution value.
-
Re: Vitali v MCcline off!!!
if your looking for me to put a flower in my hair and go hug a tree, your flirting with the wrong guy. And if i label someone as a moron because he labeled someone as a coward, I feel its justified. Now go try to convert someone else, because it aint going to happen with me.
-
Re: Vitali v MCcline off!!!
Man im not tryin to convert u at all,
I do find it ironic however that you feel its ok for you to deem people simple minded morons,
yet other people cannot deem a third party a coward.
Il join your charade however and call you a hypocrite.
-
Re: Vitali v MCcline off!!!
ok, if YOU feel that way. By all means.
I feel as though i "did to others, as they do" IMO. Now, instead of trying to teach me a life lesson, why don't go CC someone in hopes they cc you back. ;D
-
Re: Vitali v MCcline off!!!
I dont feel the neccesity to have CC's to make my time here worthwhile. I often say things other posters dont like here but i dont insult anybody or type in the condescending nature that you have displayed, so if you dont mind i haven't a bulls notion of leaving a thread because you cant converse democratically.

Just curious here, I browsed the thread and didnt see anyone call Vitali a coward. I always thought he was more exciting than Wlad, had a better chin, was tougher, had more guts.
Like Donny said, the unfortunate thing is injuries plagued his career so he never got to reach his full potential.
But as of now Wlad is the better fighter anyways: smarter, patient, less exciting
And now with 5 consecutive injuries by Vitali; his career/comeback is done. Yeah it's a shame but worse things happen.

Interesting little argument you guys are having here. Who's going to be the first to say 'No...that's YOU that is!', ??? :P

Re: Vitali v MCcline off!!!
Well, erbody nose what im like, i mustve said it a trillion times when i hear fighters bein dissed, its practically my catch phrase here to say "All fighters who step through the ropes should be respected for their bravery, its not the subject im bothered about i acknowledge that his logic was correct, no fighter should be accused of being a coward. He was a World Champion for christ sake, if he was called a coward it would be bringing the sport into disrepute as labeling one of the sports best recent heavies a coward isnt helpful is it. But whats the point of remeding that with more name calling?
