And it is good to see there are no trash-talk ;D

Re: CALZAGHE AND KESSLER IN CARDIFF
kessler is spot on.
calzaghe doesnt really sit down on his punches, and his opponents make it easy for him by standing in front of him. im glad to hear he wont be doing these things, cos this is what usually wins joey the fights.
only problem is kessler comin to cardiff one week b4. either one day b4 or 2 weeks b5 due to ur body gettin used to the weather, the water etc

Well Kessler is only coming from Denmark which is like about an hour on a plane so not much of a big deal.
Calzaghe has problesm with fighters who like to wait and counter, who are basically spoilers. From what i have seen Kessler likes to mix it up and is willing to trade and stand in the pocket and the only movement i have seen is going backwards, unless he changes his tactics or style, i think Calzaghe will beat him.

Re: CALZAGHE AND KESSLER IN CARDIFF
The reason joe dont sit down on his punches anymore is due to the consistent hand problems and the fact that he cannot risk hurting them anymore as his next hand injury could be his last. This may work against him in the Kessler fight as Kessler will probably fight at a slower pace than calzaghe would desire and make it hard for joe to counter. A solution to this problem would obviously be for joe to load his punches and force Kessler to retreat, but can he do that? The Lacy Fight suggests he still can, but fights against Ashira and Manfredo testify to the contrary.
I want Joe to win, but itl be a mystery until fight night i think

Is that Kessler or Ben Affleck in that interview?

Re: CALZAGHE AND KESSLER IN CARDIFF
Kessler is extremely able in all he does, but nothing strikes me as exceptional. If Calzaghe is at his best then Kessler will be out of his depth.
Calzaghe is quicker, is able to fight inside and outside effectively and has fought much better opponents.
Calzaghe UD.

None of these guys are anywhere near Kessler in skills Eubank was unorthdox and was shot Reid was tough and and aggressive fighter not really skillful fighter and Lacy was just power puncher with no defence Miles said Calzaghe has fought better opponents than Kessler i don't mean comparing there records Skel i mean who has Calzaghe fought anywhere near the skill level of Kessler ??

Re: CALZAGHE AND KESSLER IN CARDIFF
Man I am so excited for this fight. Just completely pumped. THose guys are both top notch world class nice guys. Hell you wish there didn't have to be a loser. This fight is at the right time........guys that dont trash talk at all sound/seem much tougher to me than guys like Shannon Briggs or Paulie and then get in the ring and stink up the place.
As nice as these guys are about there opponents I think there is a real feeling that this fight could go either way.

Calzaghe UD.
I think Kessler has done much more than Calzaghe has done in the last couple years
Kessler:
On a few weeks notice he took a title-shot against Manny Siaca late 2004 and stopped him in 7 rounds.
In his very first title defence he went down under and defeated Mundine.
Then he took on Lucas in Copenhagen.
In his only 3rd defence of his wba title he unified against wbc champ Beyer. And KO him in round 3
Then he took on undefeated no. 1 challenger Andrade.(I think the shots Andrade took in this fight, were out of this world)
In his only 5th title defence Kessler is going to Wales to face Calzaghe
Calzaghe:
Evans Ashira
Jeff Lacy
Sakio Bika
Peter Manfredo Jr

No,the reason are,Calzaghe throw many illegal punches and slaps a lot using the inside of the gloves and even punches that sometimes are similar to karate-punches thrown upside down, that`s why he break his hand so often

If u watch a lot of calzaghe's fights ul notice that the punches he now throws came into existence after his initial hand injuries. In his earlier career he was quite a conventional puncher, and he carried power! Since hurting his hands he has focused a lot less on power and his priority is to get his hands out there quick as possible.

Well Calzaghe thought he was so good he fought him twice :)
The only significant difference for me is that Calzaghe is older and the hands have become more problematic.
Veit reminds me of Kessler somewhat, Kessler will be dismantled bit by bit.
Calzaghe will dominate down the stretch. The early rounds might be tense.

Ahhh Jeff Lacy..
The man who's lights were put out by Brian Magee as an amateur in the late 90's.
The man who was trailing behind on points and being soundly-outboxed by a old and over the hill Syd Vanderpool until he found a lucky punch to stop him.
Took the full 12 by Richard 'the Alien' Grant(whom Andrade KO in round 1) and geriatric Sheika - that should have been the writing on the wall for any half-decent boxer with reach over 6' tall
Lacy ain't so great

Re: CALZAGHE AND KESSLER IN CARDIFF
ya eubank was really shot when he fought calzaghe. I watched the fight a number of times and Eubank probably would have kicked the shit out of most championship fighters. He certainly didn't look shot.

Eubank still come to fight and gave it his best shot no one denied that but to say he wern't shot is untrue did you see how much weight he had to lose in a week ??

Not far off the same amount calzaghe losses in a week in just about every match up for the last few years.
btw your lil veit comment, i suppose it's Joe's fault the WBO made him fight veit, or maybe you wern't payin attention at the time of the first fight to know all the hype of veit coming into it, over here at the time veit was coming in with a very big rep, was said ot be many things, regardless of the out come, the build up and talk, veit was alot bigger than kessler was before the andrade win.

It was a joke Preme.
And it was a joke of a fight come on Preme forgetting what WBO made him do it was still a joke of a fight im sure Calzaghe could of avoided the rematch and i can't believe anyone would of actually wanted to have seen a rematch how many boxers have you heard of rematching a boxer who they destroyed in 1st round ?? it was pointless and joke of a fight.
Not far off the same amount calzaghe losses in a week in just about every match up for the last few years
So Calzaghe a week before a fight is a Cruiserweight and loses 20 pounds in a week ??

Ice most Boxers take 14-16 lbs off when they dehydrate for the weigh in??
That old excuse to be honest im sick of hearing it, Eubank was in training.

Re: CALZAGHE AND KESSLER IN CARDIFF
I love Joe…but I really want Kess to win this one.
I hate to say that…but there isn’t a more deserving fighter out there to pick up where Joe leaves off…or to take it from him.
Kess is good people & I have followed both he & Joe for years now…& it’s just of late that I have begun to lean towards Kess as a fan.
It’ll be hard to see Joe lose…but harder to watch Kess take a hiding.

Re: CALZAGHE AND KESSLER IN CARDIFF
If this fight comes off as a barn burner, there will be no loser. Both will come away with something. Maybe not the title but worldly respect.
-
Re: CALZAGHE AND KESSLER IN CARDIFF
This is going to be a class act boxing fight. These two are really good fighters too bad there can only be one winner. I think that boxing is coming back strong with the line up of fights that are up. Keller will win this fight in a Decesion.

Re: CALZAGHE AND KESSLER IN CARDIFF
These arguments have been gone over and over ever since Kessler KO'd Markus Beyer, and I'm glad that pretty soon all the talking stops and they'll finally step between the ropes and sort it out in the squared circle. I still think that Kessler will not have the movement and speed on his punches to catch Joe often enough to hurt him and then to put him down decisively. Movement and pitter-patter punches will win this one for Calzaghe, and although I expect Kessler not to look quite like Lacy did after 12 rounds, to take quite a beating.
I think the tougher question is what will the winner do after the fight, because they are both really the only forces in the SMW division at the moment, and I reckon if Calzaghe wins he'll finally make that move up to LH for one of the big American fighters. If Kessler wins, however, I think he might fancy bringing the four belts together and owning the division for a few years.
