Would you subscribe to a boxing only channel if there was one?
that would be nice. I can sit all day watching TV....errrrrr.... that would be the biggest distraction of my life.
Yes
No... It would be stupid
Of course....
Hell yes. I asked my family to subscribe to Showtime and HBO and all that we get them for is boxing. All of the movies are rerun after rerun and the same thing is on 4 channels.
Without a doubt.
that would be awesome
I would absolutely subscirbe, the only chance of it happening would be if Golden Boy wanted to do it. Other wise I doubt it'll ever happen.
Yes, no doubt
I'd do it in a heartbeat.
I subscribe to ESPN Canada JUST for the Classic Boxing they show every Wedensday nights here (3 hours of classic boxing). If someone were to start up a boxing channel I'd be the first to sign up.
This should be a reality in the future. If fucking golf can maintain its own channel, I don't see whay boxing can't.
I'm always going on about this. Maybe it would just cost too much I don't know.........if it included all the big fights and PPV was abolished I would pay about 30 quid a month with a smile on my face.Quote:

I'd buy it, got to be than whats usually on the box!
How much would you pay Galaxy? Max that is.Quote:

No MMA,Wrestling,ETC. Only 24 Hr. Boxing=Name Your Price!
whats wrong with the fight network its shows nothing but fights and the odd wrestling events but tonnes of boxing as well as MMA.
its an awsome channel.
Hey Doot ,was up?The Only Problem with The fight network is that I don't have it.How long Has It Been around and where?Do You Pay Only For that one channel or is it part of a "Package" deal?Quote:

In Short,a "boxing network" Should Be That.Boxing.Boxing Is In A Major transition over the last decade.I LOve This sport,I LOve The Fighters, the individual life stories.I lOve the history of boxing and I think were in danger of losing alot that makes it so different from other sports...and IMO the truest and finest sport I will ever know. sorry,I Get ardent at times.
Booze, you and I share the same thing in common, I only have HBO and Showtime for the same reason. At one point, I asked if I could get a reduced rate if they got rid of HBO 2....Showtime 2... Cinimax and TMC. All I wanted was standard HBO and Showtime. I wanted them only for boxing. But of course, it's more expensive to have just 2 channels than it is to have 17. ???
If a boxing only channel meant that I would get to see current fights from all over the world I would buy it in a heartbeat. One of the things I hate most about the posts here is that I don't always know who the people are talking about. There are some really good fighters out there and I feel like I'm missing out when I've never been privileged enough to see them fight.
Slk,Aren't you around the orleans area.Trade fights.Seek Knowledge?Quote:

1million at $50 an order = 50million dollars for one fight 15 such fights a year $750million off of ppv per year
or
100million globally (modest estimate) at $40 a year for boxing channel encompassing all ppv fights and some news/old fights = 4billion dollars a year made from station.
Makes sense to me.
You seriously think 100 million people would subscribe to a boxing channel. Dude you are crazy :crazy3:Quote:

I also have VS and the spanish channel.......I have managed ot watch an occassional good fight on there, Kid Diamond what not. HOwever I can turn all my English channels to Spanish, but I can not turn my Spanish channel to English translation. That is dumb.
The office is in Harahan (but has an NO mailing address ????) Our clients are all over the place but I spend most of my time in the Metairie/Kenner/NO area. If you want to get together just pm me with a time and day. I'll see what I can do. btw I have never pm someone before but we can give it a shot.Quote:

Don't have a collection of my own. I do enjoy watching old fights on espn classic from time to time but it has to be fights I haven't seen before. At that point, any fighter will do.Quote:

Instead of having to find different stations depending on where you live (Hbo, sky sports, etc.) its all under one roof and you can specify who you want it to follow ala nfl 24/7 pay channel. I think way more than 100 million would subscribe worldwide for 40 a year. Thats like 20 over in the UK and the biggest complaint about boxing is all the ppv's and how expensive they are. People could care less about the belt rankings and all that just as long as they can see the fights.Quote:

There are only 100 million or so Sky cstomers in the whole of the United Kingdom across all channels, no way in hell 20 million Brits would sign up just for a boxing channel, soccer maybe but boxing no way. It's not even in the top 5 British sports.Quote:

The media companies know only too well that it's basically the same people repeat ordering the majority of the fights.
A person who orders the Mosely Cotto PPV will almost certainly also order the Barrera Pacquiao and Hatton Mayweather PPV's as well.
Your whole business plan is flawed. I would imagine that most of the PPV's are bought regularly by a hardcore group of fans, i.e 4 or more PPV events each per year, some even more.
It would make no economic sense whatsoever to create a channel where everyone gets to see all the PPV fights for a one of £40 subscription.
It wouldn't mean more sales overall, it would just mean the hardcore only pay once per year rather than half a dozen times, great news for the fans but commerical suicide for the boxing promoters, fighters, governing bodies etc.
Ok just did a quick population check on google.
Apparently the population estimate for the whole of the UK as of July 07 is 60,776,238.
Now you seriously think that 1 in 3 of all British people are going to subscribe to a boxing channel?
Given that half of that number are going to be female I think we can discount 30,000,000 straight off.
Another half again are going to be under 18 or over 65 and highly unlikely to buy.
Another half again just won't have enough money.
Another half again just won't be interested.
Already we down to about 4 million and I'd imagine a whole load more of those wouldn't be interested to be honest.
Such a channel may attract a million absolute tops subscribers in the UK.
In theroey yes.

I would subscribe on the understanding that all boxing showed was of quality and significance and that big fights were shown.
I would also like to see the build up to fights like press conferences and weigh in. Most fights they are standard responses but for the big fights and in terms of their history they are important. Seeing documentaries of Ali walking around before the second Liston fight was very interesting and seeing him speak to old champions like Walcott and Max Baer? were good to watch.
Not sure why there isn't one. If he showed live boxing all the time, I'd subscribe. I wouldn't pay for classic fights/ training documentaries and interviews though. It'd have to be showing fights of either live or recent fights for me to be interested.Quote:
