Dream a Little Dream: Matching Manny Pacquiao
Dream a Little Dream: Matching Manny Pacquiao
By Dan Hernandez-September 19, 2007
It has been established that Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao, 44-3-2, 35 KO’s, is a fighter for the ages. He is strong, aggressive, powerful and willing to brawl. He is as close to fearless in the ring as I can imagine. The first time I saw him was on an HBO telecast a few years back and I told my cronies, “Who is this guy?” The pure energy that is he exhibited was overwhelming; and, he was just standing in the corner waiting for the bout to commence. It got better.

yes based on the times he's been knocked out/down..no wait that can't be right ::**

Re: Dream a Little Dream: Matching Manny Pacquiao
Pacquiao will lose to all of them mainly because of PAC being so small. I was just watching Kid Diamond and Huerta on Versus On-Demand I just realized how big the frames are on these 135pounders.

NO! its because he hasn't been hit as often and as hard unlike the others whom are sure to land more then once a round ;)

Re: Dream a Little Dream: Matching Manny Pacquiao
Arguello and Chavez would eat Manny for breakfast. Arguello's size and power would be too much, even when after 70 plus pro fights,he gave a prime Aron Pryor hell. Arguello's straight right hands, left hooks and bodywork would hurt Manny and stop him.
JCC-no-one beat a prime JCC unless you boxed. Stand toe to toe even for a few rounds and you will get hurt:ask Meldrick Taylor etc. Impossible to hurt, strong,Manny has been hurt and knocked out by bodyshots before and no-one worked the body more than Chavez. Cahevz via vicious left hook to the body stoppage.
Mayweather- an all time great at the lower weights. It's because of the guys he beat there that he is P4P number 1 because his resume at 140 onwards is hardly impressive. Still,at 130/135,the complete fighter. Had power, speed, awesome defence, everything. Would batter Manny. Faster, more skillful than anyone Manny has ever faced.

are you serious Gamo? you're talking about pac going down because of body shots. can you live with the present and try to understand(at least watch) why he was knocked out?

Yes but he still doesn't change the fact that Chavez's body shots would ware out Pac and eventually stop him.

Re: Dream a Little Dream: Matching Manny Pacquiao
Bruce,no offence, but you need to go and re watch the Manny career set. Maybe not just the knockout, but there were plenty of fights where Manny was hurt to the body. Any pac fan would know this and no-one hit harder or more consistently to the body than Chavez. Manny has a long way to go before people write articles like that about him. I'm not saying he cannot achieve it but there are far far far too many overly optimistic/over confident fans/writers/article about him.

Re: Dream a Little Dream: Matching Manny Pacquiao
I think chavez would have a hard time hitting manny in the body. If he does it, Manny would barrage him with punches in the face. Rodela, Manny's sparring partner, described manny's punches that it was like being hit by a bat. That was the reason MAB could not recover from Manny's punches. do you think chavez would also be able to withstand it?

Please don't try and compare Pac to JCC,there is no comparison. Chavez went down for the first time in 95 plus fight(can't remember the specific number). He fought guys with huge power like Rosario,Ramirez etc. They didn't hurt him. Manny would barrage him in the face? He;s been hurt on numerous occassions to the body,I didn't see any barrages to the face. A prime JCC would easily withstand,he had one of the greatest chins in the history of boxing.
And that's his SPARRING PARTNER...he gets paid to say that. And WTF is Rodela?Tell me about him.

Rodela had been the sparring partner of MAB, fyi. He compared MAB and Manny as very far in terms of power. He was comparing a Barrera that was at his peak.
funny that we are trying to make a hypothetical fight between chavez and manny. it will never be settled.
-
Re: Dream a Little Dream: Matching Manny Pacquiao
LOL,which weight was MAB at his prime? He was comparing that to Manny's power now? ;D ;D
-
Re: Dream a Little Dream: Matching Manny Pacquiao
manny had been batting hard even at the bantamweight. weights are no excuse. O0

You are talking about a guy who has one of best chins ever in boxing history if not the best the only time he was knocked down when he was past his prime against Frankie Randall and that was after 92 fights i believe and he was also knocked down by prime Tszyu but other than that no other time i believe and in his prime Chavez had chin of granite the man was as solid as a rock no doubt Chavez would be able to get to Manny and no doubt he would be able to take Manny's punches i see Chavez stopping Pacquiao in about 10 rounds after accumulation of body punches

Maybe Chavez had never meet a fighter who is as strong and quick as Pacquaio. That could only be the logical reason for me. Like Morales, who was considered to have a granite chin, chavez could have the defeat of his life had he meet manny.

Re: Dream a Little Dream: Matching Manny Pacquiao
Manny against any of those opponent swould be an interesting fight, good action. What about manny v Salvador Sanchez?

Sanchez by decision he took Wilfredo Gomez's power who is one of the hardest hitting p4p fighters ever he would take Pac's punches no problem and counter punch and win a decision

Re: Dream a Little Dream: Matching Manny Pacquiao
hehehe. how can I convince ICB that Pacman is incomparable.it's not about power only. It's about speed with power.

Sanchez dealt with fast talened fighters speed will be no problem for Sanchez im not trying to hate on Pac but Sanchez is very special he died at very young age and beat more hall of famers + more excellent fighters than most boxers have done in there entire career Sanchez could box or brawl he would box Pac by counter punching and win similar way to how Morales won in there first fight but he would get hit less than what Morales did because he wouldn't be drawn into a war he would just use his incredible skills to beat Pac and like i said if he can take Gomez's power who is top 10 p4p hardest hitting fighter ever he will take Pac's power.

Re: Dream a Little Dream: Matching Manny Pacquiao
hahaha. ICB, so did some researching ha? now that we speak the same language. Pacquaio knocks out sanchez 6th round.

Re: Dream a Little Dream: Matching Manny Pacquiao
sometimes, people need to really know the content of my mind before I engage in debate. had this been a live parliamentary form of debate, you would have known that I'm talking sense here. enough said, thank you eagle and ICB for sharpening my mind.
cc for the both of you.

No i've heard of it before but its still childish on your part to try and make a fool out of someone that obvisiously wouldn't of heard it like quite alot of people wouldn't have like i said this is what you have been reduced to ??
You obvisiously have never watched a Sanchez fight in your life so its not worth debating with someone who has no knowledge on Sanchez just like you didn't have none on Mayweather and by the sounds of it not really much knowledge on boxing in general either.

Just leave the forum now. U know nothing about boxing. Sanchez took out ATG in Gomez and Nelson as well as great fighters like Perez and La porte, all under the age of 23 and well before his prime. U know stuff all about boxing and just proved u are nothing but another fanboy. I really dont want a CC from a freak like u.....

Re: Dream a Little Dream: Matching Manny Pacquiao
sanchez vs pac would be fire-works. this fight would prolly be the best dream match for me. I think it would be alot more exciting then what people think, and that means very VERY exciting.
chavez would prolly hand both of them their asses though ;D

:poke:
All you do is silly smiley faces when you have been clearly beaten in boxing knowledge.
You done the Judah dance in Mayweather thread and in this thread and the other Pac thread you sound like a punch drunk journeyman and are just talking alot of nonsense you challenged me 4 times in boxing knowledge and 4 times you have lost doesn't that sort of give you a hint ?? like don't challenge ICB in boxing knowledge unless you want to be made to look like a fool again ?
