Which of these 3 fights will have more substance than hype?
I love these undefeated fighters squaring off to determine the supremacy and usually these fights are hyped up until one remembers the fight dates better than their B-day so which of these 3 fights will meet or surpass the hype.
Mayweather-Hatton
Calzaghe-Kessler
Taylor-Pavlik

We already know Hatton Mayweather will be all hype with very little substance.
Taylor/Pavlik is going to be a war so is Cotto/Mosley.
I don't know about Calzaghe/Kessler but I bet it will be better than Hatton/Mayweather.
-
Re: Which of these 3 fights will have more substance than hype?
Taylor/Pavlik will be the biggest war of the 3. Calzaghe and Mayweather are too good defensively to get too beaten up even in a losing effort. Taylor/Pavlik is the only one I'm reasonably comfortable in predicting a KO.

I wouldn't call Calzaghe a good defensive fighter the reason why he got decked twice was because of his lack of defence especially when Salem knocked him down he had no defence and was swinging punches from all angles not thinking about defence im expecting a good fight.
Cotto vs Mosley will be the best fight out of the 3 there styles just seem to blend so well.
Hatton vs Mayweather imo will be similar to Chavez vs Mayweather and that was action packed fight.
-
Re: Which of these 3 fights will have more substance than hype?
He didn't have Cotto/Mosley as one of the options, but I might have voted for that. I would submit that Calzaghe's offense IS his defense. His shots are constantly coming, making it difficult for his opponents to get off like they'd like.

Ah my bad misread it anyway as for Pavlik vs Taylor.
I think Taylor will be counter punching and Pavlik will be putting the pressure on and i think it will be good action packed fight with Pavlik winning by ko or tko.

Ah the reason why Cotto Mosley was not listed is because he was talking about all around undefeated fighters but Cotto Mosley should get an honorable mention at least half of one because Cotto is still undefeated but if you ask Frozen Solid he will argue that Cotto would have lost had he not hit Judah in the vag1na. Just ask Frozen Solid about Castillo/Mayweather 1 and hopefully he will shut his trap.
Calzaghe does not have a great defense as ICB mentioned. CalZlappy likes to rush you and hug and grab you anyway he can. He is not the cleanest fighter in the game but he does what he has to do to win not to mention he is a Southy which makes for some sloppy fights anyway.

I'll bet you 20 CCs that Cotto Mosley is better than all three. But I see we are talking about fights between two undefeated fighters....
If thats the case than I'll take Taylor Pavlik

Please read my post after that one.

Re: Which of these 3 fights will have more substance than hype?
Calzaghe Vs Kessler has the most substance...Joe only knows how to fight with volume punching and Kessler knows he will need a KO to win...Even if he knocks Calzage down twice every round and limits his connect % to 1% he will have to be trying for the KO so...
It will be a slap fight Vs a guy trying to take his head off
-
Re: Which of these 3 fights will have more substance than hype?
JC Kessler is going to be awesome.
Cotto Mosley is going to be the best fight overall, a war.
Pasvlik Taylor will be exciting when JT gets caught by Pavlik. It could be boring at times.
Mayweather Hatton will be the least exciting in terms of action but there should be moments of drama and I envisage it being close on the cards, simply due to their styles.

Just ask Frozen Solid about Castillo/Mayweather 1 and hopefully he will shut his trap.
Mayweather won a very close fight. I actually had Castillo by 1 round while trying my hardest to give the close rounds to JLC in order to score it with an unbiased eye. So Mayweather getting a UD wasn't all that controversial to those who actually follow boxing and know what they're talking about. The landslide scoring, however, was total BS.
The judges tried to make up for it in the rematch though (there was a rematch in case you forgot ;)) by giving Castillo rounds that he clearly did not deserve. But Mayweather dominated him so bad, that even the biggest hater (Danny_G) couldn't give the fight to Castillo.
On a side note..................
Zab Judah hit Cotto with more clean shots in the first 4 rounds of their fight than Mayweather's been hit with in his entire career. The Cotto lovers should be thanking God that he threw all of his illegal low blows, because if he didn't, all of his "fans," would have had to jump to a different bandwagon (it's no secret that 90% of Cotto fans were die hard Margarito "fans" until they actually saw him fight) because Cotto was well on his way to getting knocked out real bad.

Re: Which of these 3 fights will have more substance than hype?
Imo the fight that will be the best out of all of them isn't even on the list and is getting virtually no hype at all.
Mormeck vs Haye will be the best fight of the lot 8)

I remember Zab beating up PBF in the early rounds and he even knocked Mayweather down.
Judah never knocked Cotto down. Cotto's low blows came way after Cotto was hurt and were not an issue. The first low blow was was not even that severe to make matters worse for Judah it was such a delayed reaction that we all knew he was faking it. What was Judah thinking? He wasn't. I believe the second low blow just might have been intentional so Judah would stop crying wolf. Judah hit Cotto with some low blows and Cotto just kept fighting. Cotto would have beat Judah regardless. Judah hit Cotto a lot of times with that sneaky upper cut and he could not knock Cotto down or out. Did I mention Floyd getting knocked down by Judah? lol
I don't know nothing about the Margarito fans jumping on the Cotto express. It is still no secret that Floyd was terrified of Tony and no matter how many times Tony loses, Floyd will always wet himself when it comes to Antonio Margarito. The Youtube videos show how much fear Tony put into PBF's heart. Reminds me of the major fear Sugar Ray Leonard had of Roberto 'Manos De Piedra' Duran.

Beating up is going a bit far he gave Mayweather trouble but he wasn't beating him up and yes Judah did score a knockdown but it was flash knockdown due to Mayweather being off balance Judah won 3 of the first 4 rounds and then i remember Mayweather beating Judah so bad that Judah was forced to land low blow and hit Mayweather with a vicious back of the head shot.
Tony put into PBF's heart. Reminds me of the major fear Sugar Ray Leonard had of Roberto 'Manos De Piedra' Duran.
Yea Leonard was so afraid of Duran that he fought like a brawler in the first fight just to prove to Duran he could fight Duran's fight and made him quit in the rematch ;D
As for Mayweather being scared of Margarito i think thats nonsense Margarito had beaten nobody and wasn't a name plus he had no real wins the only thing he had done at that point was beat Cintron and lose to Daniel Santos.

Re: Which of these 3 fights will have more substance than hype?
Leonard was still afraid of Duran. He got his butt kicked too. Credit to him for facing his fears. Floyd is afraid of Tony and that is plain and simple. Watch how floyd turns into porky pig everytime Tony's name was mentioned to him. He never knew what to say. The YouTube videos don't lie. I know you have seen them so you can't deny it. Sugar Ray Leonard did not fight Duran in the second fight. He ran so much that Duran just said screw this. Ray don't want to fight, he want's to run. Duran did not get beat up. Sure they fought again for a third time like ten years later and Ray won.

Cotto will beat Mosley.
Will Floyd have the balls to face Cotto or Pual Williams?
Floyd is going to go back into retirement.
He will not come back out of retirement so soon and he will hope and pray that someone will beat Cotto and Williams but it will be Cotto and Williams fighting each other 3 times and by then Floyd will get old and lose his reflexes just like Roy Jones Junior did and then all bums will be beating up on Floyd like he was Gatti. LMAO!

I just find it hard to believe Mayweather would be scared of someone who had no wins and best name on his record was Daniel Santos and he lost that fight Mayweather fought Corrales who was big and a strong puncher plus undefeated why would he fear Margarito maybe he didn't say anything when Tony's name was mentioned because he wasn't worth it ?? and im not trying to diss Margarito but im just saying he was not worthy of his shot and if Mayweather would have fought Tony all we would of heard was Margarito hadn't fought anyone he was overrated ect Mayweather had nothing to gain beating Margarito what so ever except pleasing the Margarito fans but thats worth jack S***.
As for Leonard he boxed beautifully in the rematch with Duran combination's, footwork, ect Duran just got frustrated because he was getting his ear's boxed off simple as Duran was never a great fighter when someone boxed him from outside remember Kirkland Laing gave Duran a boxing lesson.

I too find hard to believe that some one who talks all that shiet about how great he is would be so afraid of Tony. It was not that Floyd had nothing to say but the look in his eyes and the nervous fear and stuttering were just too obvious. I think he was even wearing grown mens diapers back in those days when every one was asking him why he was afraid of Tony. I know he was peeing on himself all the time. I bet he is glad those days are over. Soon it will be Cotto who makes Floyd pee pee and it will be back to wearing diapers for the Great Floyd Mayweather Jr.

After Cotto gets man handled by Mosley he'll fall back in to the mid rankings of the welterweight division. Right along side your other man, Antonio Margarito.
Then the two of them can argue about which one is being ducked more in spite of their lack of lack of credible resumes.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I have to give u an A for persistence. Saying glorified journeyman Margarito scares PBF is so funny i nearly went 'pee pee' with laughter. U must be the only man alive who thinks fighting Margarito at 147 is more scary than fighting DLH at 154(If Santos could beat Marg at 154 imagine what Oscar would do to him). I've watched all Margaritos title fights, including the Santos fights and to be honest he has great heart and determination, but is really not that good.
Your argument is old and U my friend are a hater.
Floyd is a natural 130 pounder who has fought at 154, that is hardly the sign of a scared fighter. That'd be the same as natural 147 pound Marg fighting at LHW or Cruiser. As if he'd do that tho. Kno why? Cos he'd be too scared and get blown outta the water....
Nuff said.

Soon it will be Cotto who makes Floyd pee pee and it will be back to wearing diapers for the Great Floyd Mayweather Jr.
lol
Nuff said.
Stop jumping on the bandwagon and talking shite. And what kind of dumb ass analogy is that, saying Margarito would have to go from WW to LHW/Cruiser. Has any fighter in the modern era done that? Too scared? Seriously, this post is useless.
And calling Margarito a glorified journeymen shows your lack of knowledge about boxing. So a guy who was unbeaten at WW for 6 plus years and was and still is RING and ESPn top 10 ww is a journeymen?!WTF are you,Frozensolid part 2?!?
And what Danny G is mainly alluding to is the video where Margarito approaches Floyd. It's on YouTube. Anyone who thinks Floyd was not scared in that video is lying. And every time Margarito was mentioned,it's no lie that Floyd started to stutter, stammer and contradict himself.
Like Danny said, who knows why? Something about Margarito bothered him though. It's simple as that. No one is saying Margarito is the better fighter and people mentioning his resume are foolish, that's not the issue, the issue is Floyd's reaction to Margarito.

Re: Which of these 3 fights will have more substance than hype?
The way im analysing this is in this mindset; Which fights would i most love to go to? For me its gotta be this way;
1)Hatton/Maywether
2)Cotto/Mosely
3)Calzaghe/Kessler
4)Barerra/Pacquiao
5)Taylor/Pavlik
6)Haye/Mormeck
7)Holyfield/Ibragimov

Unbeaten at WW for 6 years beating no one of really any substance plus the best fighter on his record was Santos and he lost that fight seriously when you are saying he was uneabten at Welterweight you make it sound as if he achieved something major when he didn't.
Maybe he did maybe he didn't it doesn't really matter either way he still was not worthy of his shot all i know is that if he would of stepped in the ring with Margarito he would have gave him a boxing lesson and Mayweather would of got even less credit than he did for the Judah and Baldomir wins.

I guess you are Frozen Solid the second.
First of all, Floyd did not beat Oscar De La Hoya. You call that a beating?
Was that a beating?
What fight were you watching?
That was thee most boring so called fight I have ever seen and both are guilty of holding back both men looked as thought they were full of fear. They were by no means fearless. This fight reminds me of those boring MMA fights where neither man wants to go for a take down so they pretend to box for 3 to 5 rounds and looking bad in the process.
Margarito aint shiet? He made a grown man cry in the ring. A man who was 24 and 0.
Margarito also made a grown man pee his pants. Yes, PBF.
The first man to go 12 rounds with Paul Williams.
Has faught 2 of the most ducked men in boxing, that being Clottey and Williams.
Floyd has been fighting nothing but men past their prime. WOW!
Gatti is nothing to gloat about if you are the so called P4P greatest ever. Alfonso Gomez who is not even a Contender beat the shiet out of Gatti too. That tells you how sorry Gatti is.
Running from old azz Baldomir for 12 rounds was nothing near being great. There was no greatness there.
Floyd is a FRAUD.

I will not say Floyd is a fraud in any way and those who have been around here know I am in no way a fan of his.....BUT
I give you a CC for your Maragrito comments...I am tired of everyone dogging him...the man has been there for years as a top guy...many people avoided him...not saying they were scared but no one was in a rush to step in with Tony that is for sure...Matter of fact on these same boards there were post ofr months about him being the most avoided man in boxing and he would beat this one and that one...many of those post by the same people who dog him today....
He loses to Williams and all of a sudden it is an I told you so situation....but when he beat the stuffing out of Cintron everyone was on his shit saying the same thing I told you so..but then it was as him being avoided....Margarito lost a fight to Williams big deal..that makes him a bum? or over rated?...

CC Daxx and cc in 24 Danny. Most of the people arguing/dissing Margarito either are glory hunters who just support the guy with the hype at the time or don't know anything about him/the opponents he has beaten and checks Boxrec, throwing around random names. Clearly people calling him a journeymen and saying he has beaten no-one know little about him. ::** ::**

I also forgot to mention that Tony Margarito nearly tore a mans ear of their head with out having to bite it off like Tyson does.
SNAP!

I have watched alot of Margarito's fights and actually enjoy his fighting style all im saying is he had not beaten any names only decent opposition nothing more nothing less and did not deserve his shot vs Mayweather thats basically it.

Who was gloating about Gatti ?? and as for Baldomir he dominated Baldomir exciting or not he still shut out the Welterweight champion of the world and you can't really get any better than that exciting or not he still pulled out a shut out.

Re: Which of these 3 fights will have more substance than hype?
All 3 fights have both substance AND hype.
-
Re: Which of these 3 fights will have more substance than hype?
Who was gloating?
His fans Gloat.
He Gloats.
I remember when Floyd beat Gatti.
He got on his knees and began to weep.
Why?
He went around telling everyone who Gatti was.
Gatti was a club fighter with a belt and so was and still is Baldomir.
Gatti and Baldomir were taylor made for Floyd.
There is not one top welter weight out there right now who could not destroy Gatti or Baldomir. Not one! They would smoke these two old men like sausages in a cabin.
Because Baldomir had a trinket, this still does not make Baldomir some one great.
(Why do you think they call them trinkets?) lol
He is still caca today.
These two bums do nothing for Floyds legacy when you begin to do your homework.
Word.

Baldomir was still Welterweight champion of the world the fight needed to happen you can't criticize for Mayweather taking that fight there was really no one else at Welterweight not Mosley not Cotto who was still too green and Margarito had not proven anything thats basically it Danny.

There was Tony Margarito. He was the man people everywhere wanted to see fight Floyd. You can't deny it becuase it is all over YouTube and everytime they showed any boxing, Tony and PBF's names were thrown out there, On any show in any country.
Tony lost to Williams but it was not a beat down. Both fighters held their own and Tony is no walk in the park. Tony vs Mayweather would have been a much better fight than Baldomir/Mayweather.
Baldomir looked so old in there I thought he was fighting in quicksand with weights around his ankles. Floyd ran all night anyway. What a bore.

ICE COLD, I will agree that Margarito wasn't worthy of a shot at Mayweather at the time, but it's clear Floyd was afraid of Margarito. Antonio is an imposing physical presence, perhaps the most imposing in the welterweight division. Regardless of who Antonio has beaten or not, his constant pressure and power spooked Floyd. I mean, Floyd turned down 8 MILLION to fight him. At the time, that was the biggest purse Floyd was ever offered!!

Exactly. Ice misses the point..cue "who did Margarito beat, what had he done etc etc" ::** ::** ::**

Re: Which of these 3 fights will have more substance than hype?
I think the Taylor/ Pavlik fight by far. Even though i will watch both of them i'm pretty sure the Kessler/Calzaghe fight and the Mayweather/Hatton fight will be boring as hell.

Well who had he beaten ??
Well i think Mayweather has took right path don't you ?? he fought Oscar and the fight was huge probably one of the most anticipated fights since Tyson vs Lewis and is now fighting Hatton in huge fight Margarito did not deserve the fight vs Mayweather and i would have been surprised if Arum allowed Margarito to fight Mayweather by offering Mayweather 8 million dollars because not only would Mayweather have gave Margarito a boxing lesson he would of ended Arum's hype machine.
Oh and by the way Gamo im not hater of Margarito im actually fan of his style and was rooting for him vs Williams.
