When you think about december 8th 2007 , you can't help but thing about the Mayweather Vs Hatton bout and no matter how long you've been a boxing fan , if you've ever seen Hatton and Mayweather's previous fights , i think it's pretty fair to say and pretty safe to think that this probably won't win an award for "Fight Of The Year"..

Sure , the hype is off the chart , for hardcore Ricky fans , this is as big as it gets , and for Floyd fans , well this won't bring anything really new to the ring , the odds of this fight looking like may 5th are pretty good , with maybe a bit more speed and a lot more holding.

Having said all that , what will happen exactly ?

Senario 1 : Mayweather backing up and countering , hitting with "one punch combos" most of the fight and winning a 2-3 point decision

Senario 2 : Hatton comes straight foreward , "hooks and Holds" the whole fight and pulls another june 23rd

At one of the recent Mayweather vs Hatton Press Conferences however , Floyd said "So december 8th , you MUST buy this fight , cause we gonna give you a TOE to TOE battle"

Can you even contemplate that in your mind? do you really think this will turn out to be a toe to toe fight?

I think this will be a good fight and yes im mentioning it again but i have to because of the styles it will be similar to Chavez vs Mayweather and that was action packed fight and i expect more of the same here.

This should be music to Rickys ears. Its the best chance he has of a win. If Pbf goes toe to toe Ricky can win, if PBF pot shots he will win easily.

Mayweather said the fight with Oscar was going to be toe to toe. He doesn't fight toe to toe and we have no reason to believe the tiger is going to change its stripes now.

But Oscar is a STRONG 154lb'er. It would have been suicide for him to trade with him. Now he is facing a natural 140lb'er. Now we know he is not as shy to trade at 140. His fights there with Gatti and Corley were amazing offensive displays by Floyd. Floyd said he'd go Toe to Toe with Ndou and did. So it just depends which Floyd turns up. If it's the Floyd that feels he has something to prove, he will turn Hatton's face into pulp. If it's the Floyd that feels this is going to be an easy fight anyway then he will coast to victory by pot-shotting. I actually hope Hatton MAKES him show his full offensive arsenal because PBF is one of the most exciting fighters when he starts getting offensive. We'll see

How many Floyd fights have you watched? Floyd has gone toe to toe tons of times in his career.

I agree, floyd has gone toe to toe several times and looked ver good doing it. But in this fight he cannot, Hatton is beatable for Mayweather sure, but not in a brawl. Should Mayweather choose to engage Hatton in a brawl he loses.

The thing about mayweather is you really don't know till the fight starts.....he adapts very well to each opponet, he's not affected by the media or fans and comes in and fights his fight the gives him the best chance to win period. Some call it boring some call it running at times but the end result has so far always been the same. All the talk before the fight from him is just a bunch of garbage.

The difference is Mayweather didn't have much chance of scoring a KO in his last couple.

I reckon he'll be pretty confident he can hurt Hatton, which will make him more "exciting."

Mayweather will be the surgeon, Hatton the unanaesthetized patient.

The thing i've noticed with Hatton is that he is considered a murderous body puncher but his body is also his achilles heel!! in 2 out of his last 4 fights he has been hurt to the body. The body shot against Kostya Tsuyu felled him but was called low (it wasn't). Then in round 5 against Urango he was almost doubled over with a few body shots. Mayweather CAN hit to the body! He is great at going from body to head and vice versa. You can hear the snap on all of his body shots as well. Its not been considered but I believe he can hurt Hatton to the body. He has a few bodyshot knockouts on his CV as well.

Check out the pbf vs ndou & chavez fights,

even though they were quite one sided (the chavez one less so) they were still very exciting because of the pressure put on pbf

Floyd can say what he wants prior to the fight ... it has no bearing on what will actually happen fight night. We all know that.

He'll decide during the course of the fight whether to keep boxing from the outside, or when and if he has Hatton figured out and timed to the point that he can actually fight him "toe to toe."

So he'll be staying outside and fighting defensively early in any case.

Later he'll either do the same but figure out how to increase his points, or he'll find moments when he can step in for toe to toe action while still doing the other.

Regardless of pre-fight hype and all our opinion-ating ... his decisions are made in the ring, as they should be.

This fight is Floyd's to lose, Ricky's to win. With Ricky's aggressive style, Floyd's going to be pressed ... this should give us an opportunity to see Floyd at his best.

Nothing would be more fun than to see Floyd have to make the choice to stand and fight ... and still win. If that's what happens, it may well be a FOTY candidate, regardless of the fact that few expect it to be.

Mayweather, unfortunately, has a tendency to promise and not deliver. The De La Hoya fight was supposed to be 'a fuckin' massacre' along with other such colorful quotes from Floyd as, "He's already beat mentally, I'm going to do the physical part... BRUTALLY." That fight was a letdown, but I'm sure if I were to dig up this forum's archives there'd be plenty regarding the topic. (I personally thought that fight was a draw.)

But yeah, no one here is retarded or anything. It's in his best interest to say shit like that, because it helps to generate more revenue. All he needs is for you to hit the Purchase button on your television remote and he's back to his one-punch-at-a-time coast to a UD. I don't necessarily think that would be the outcome, but he plays it very safe when he fights. (His Baldomir fight, I thought, was pathetic.) Whether that's respected or not is up to each individual. I personally don't find it very appealing, and I hope he gets knocked out. Just for the sheer shock factor. But we can only speculate!

And if he does like you said and outboxes him, fine, all credit for the win. I know he can make people look silly just boxing their ears off{Gatti for example}. But with Ricky it's a little different for me and how I see it. Floyd has been talking trash and been more than disrespectful towards Hatton for a long time. Not even saying he was a C- fighter; just a bum and waste of his time. Also saying Hatton should have been a pro wrestler, weak chinned, getting gifts fighting bums and knocking out old geezers. Now I know Floyd talks alot of smack about opponents, but none like the disdain he's shown towards Ricky. With that being said, and seeing how Ricky is lucky he can even make 140{I think he could have been a 135}, if Floyd can't k.o. this "bum", etc. etc. that is smaller than him{and Floyd is a small man himself}, then I just think if it were me, I'd be embarassed not to get a guy out of there in stunnning fashion that I'd been talking so low about for years. So u wouldnt be impressed by a Calzaghe v Lacy style beat down? I mean sometimes when a guy gets ko'd they can claim it was a lucky punch if the fight was reasonably even before that, but when a guy is picked off and beaten down for the full 12 there is no excuses. But what I'm saying is; if Ricky sucks so bad and is so little threat and weak, then k.o. him or shut up. Let me just put this out in the open, Im a BIG Hatton fan. My humble opinion on this fight is an easy win for mayweather though, as the guy is just too good. Its likely to be a points victory for Mayweather or the towel is thrown in by Hatton's corner after rounds of punishment, as you know hatton wont quit. But after saying that, if Hatton pressures Mayweather like he did to Tyzu, you never know what might happen as weve never really seen Mayweather in that situation. If hatton can push Mayweather back he has got the power to knock him out but that is unlikely as mayweather is so silky in the ring.

75% mayweather victory by points or towel thrown in by hatton corner

25% totally outguns mayweather and knock him out - lets just pray

I think Mayweather has too quick of feet for Hatton to be on him all the time. Also Hatton isn't known for throwing a hundred punches a round which I believe is what it takes from anyone out there to beat Mayweather. IMO Hatton is a tune up for MAyweather's next fight.

Hatton has never talked about Floyd being a bum and garbage fighter . I know fighters talk up fights, especially these big guys for HBO and trying to generate excitement for PPV. I just feel that if Floyd is going to put himself on a pedestal and thinks he can share company with SRR and Ali; yet at the same time will basically over the years relegate Hatton to the status of a poor amateur fighter, then he'd better k.o. him. How can Floyd be one of the greatest but have to go the distance with an overrated, D- fighter whos best wins are over shot geezers ??? Floyd has been more vocal about Hatton, and more disparaging, then about any other fighter he's faced. If Hatton is that poor of a fighter, he should have no problem getting Hatton out of there. That's all I'm saying. Fortunately my headache is gone this morning, unfortunately I fear I am sounding desperate about this topic. ;D Just the way I feel about it :-\

what amazes me is that n'dou had such a high ko percentage and yet when he fought Floyd he is flat footed, slow and couldn't knock the stuffing out of a chook! When I watched that clip I imagined Hatton standing in front of Floyd with his faster hands/feet bobbing his way in throwing from the hip, can't wait for Dec 8! ;D
