Could Any Featherweight In History Beat Salvador Sanchez ??

Re: Could Any Featherweight In History Beat Salvador Sanchez ??
very underrated featherweight was Jesse James Leija 8)... Leija was a fucking non stop machine at that weight.. you can bet your bottom dollar he would have had a chance vs any featherweight . if you can dig up some fight footage of james leija at featherweight you will enjoy.. he also had some fantastic wars with the great Azumah Nelson... Leija was very under appreciated as a fighter IMO.

Re: Could Any Featherweight In History Beat Salvador Sanchez ??
Pepp
Saddler
MAB
Morales
Abe Attell
Henry Armstrong was a great featherweight
All have a shout

Re: Could Any Featherweight In History Beat Salvador Sanchez ??
I'm sure Azumah Nelson would have gone close in a rematch, we probably would have had a trilogy there for sure. Other than Nelson, maybe Arguello, obviously legends like Willie Pep and Sandy Saddler would be a chance but i don't know... Sanchez may well be the greatest Featherweight of all time!

Re: Could Any Featherweight In History Beat Salvador Sanchez ??
my boy Pacquaio has a chance.

we were waiting for that 8)

If these people mentioned by Big H has a "shout" (I think, shot), how much more my boy?

Re: Could Any Featherweight In History Beat Salvador Sanchez ??
Alexis Arguello could have, mayb,
Had Sanchez Gone up to Super Feather he would have been second best to JCC.
And Pep.

Without any offense, you mean Pacquaio does not belong with MAB and Morales? That's funny. Last time I checked, PAcquaio was clearly superior than them.

Like the way you predicted Pacquaio would lose against MAB the first time they met? LOL
-
Re: Could Any Featherweight In History Beat Salvador Sanchez ??
I'm wondering.... if MAB is next to Salvador Sanchez in terms of greatness, where will you place PAcquaio? don't tell me again that MAB was shot and was not at his peak when he fought with PAcquaio first time they met coz it's just simply disrespectful of Pacquaio. Pacquaio's first fight with MAB was in between MAB vs Morales III. Does it mean that MAB was already shot when he won that third fight against Morales?
Let's be fair here. As Saddo has said before (don't know if he was serious about it), let's place Pacquaio to the rightful spot where he belongs. It's our responsibility as true boxing fans not to be biased. Mexican or not, Pacquaio will become one of all-time greats. His name deserves mention, at the least, together with MAB and Morales.
Now as a Pacquaio fan, no one can deny me of the belief that he can win against Sanchez. Correct me if Im wrong, Sanchez was not in the p4p list during his time though I believe he would have been had he not died early. As a fact,Pacquaio is pound for pound number 2 (for some, but in increasing number, he is the pound for pound number 1). Admit it and don't hate me for saying a fact.

Re: Could Any Featherweight In History Beat Salvador Sanchez ??
let's throw something else is SS that great? Surely he died long before his legacy could be truly established?
-
Re: Could Any Featherweight In History Beat Salvador Sanchez ??
He is great. But Missy raises an important issue. He died young. This in many peoples eyes is seen as wasted potential: how great could he have been?
But it also leaves the possability of him being exposed; had he fought on a little longer would he have run into someone who could have handled him....
In my opinion he would have been decisioned had he rematched Azumah Nelson.
But these are just hypothetical opinions of mine and do not demand much thought.
He was agreat fighter and only a great fighter would have beaten him.

Re: Could Any Featherweight In History Beat Salvador Sanchez ??
I think a young Nelson did very well and could well have got the UD when more experienced.

It reminded me of Holmes vs Witherspoon if i remember right Witherspoon didn't step into a gym until he was 22 then with 15 pro fights and at age 25 he was fighting Larry Holmes for World Heavyweight Championship in his finest performance and he would never reach that level again.

You struck the gold mine Missy. Salvador Sanchez had shown great potentials but he had not truly established yet his legacy. That was what I was trying to point out. cc for that.

Re: Could Any Featherweight In History Beat Salvador Sanchez ??
Missy and Bruce, have either of you actually seen Sal Sanchez fight? Do you know who he beat? He was a boxer. He was a puncher. His jab. His combinations. His head movement. He beat monstrous monstrous punchers like Wilfredo Gomez,Danny Lopez,he beat a future great Azumah Nelson(whom Sanchez under estimated),he beat established fighters like Pat Cowdell,Ruben Castillo etc. That is a great legacy and had he been alove,he still would have continued but none the less,a great legacy all the same.
And Bruce,Manny has some way to go before his legacy matches Morales and MAB. Just because you beat someone does not mean you have a greater legacy than them.

Sanchez was a class act no doubt Gamo, but unfortubately his legacy is limited by what he got the chance to achieve. We can only judge him on what we saw, and although that was great it wasn't the greatest of Featherweight History. (its not his fault he's comparable to Pep either)

Sanchez was getting better and better do you realize he had only few amateur fights ?? he was improving all the time the Nelson who fought Sanchez fought like a complete pro regardless of how many pro fights he had and Sanchez destroyed fighters like Danny Lopez and Wilfredo Gomez Sanchez was so skillfull had great chin and his stamina was unreal like in Nelson fight it looked like he couldn't go on then comes out for 15th round like its 1st round and stops Nelson thats what you call a true legend.
