who did you have leading the fight b4 the stoppage
i didnt score the fight myself but i remember the 1st round both guys had their moments, it could've gone either way but probably pavlik. Taylor defiianltly 2nd. but from their on i thought pavlik was pressing the action, landing solid jabs with sound defence and better work rate. ocassionly taylor would fight off the ropes throw a few good flurries but i felt to little too late in the rounds. i was shocked to hear the commentors saying that taylor was giving pavlik a boxing lesson, i felt most of JT's punches were blocked by pavlik's gloves.
so who did you guys and girls have leading the fight???????????

Re: who did you have leading the fight b4 the stoppage
I had Taylor winning, but I was scoring it in my head and cannot recall what rounds I gave to which fighter. It was erased from my memory when I began to weep into my hat.

Re: who did you have leading the fight b4 the stoppage
Well all i can say on this subject is that Taylor was being totally outworked in rounds 6 and 7. Had it gone the distance u would have had to favour the busier, more accurate Pavlik.

Pavlik 4 rounds to 2.

Re: who did you have leading the fight b4 the stoppage
I had it like this:
1 10 - 9 Pavlik
2 8 - 10 Taylor
3 10 - 9 Pavlik
4 9 - 10 Taylor
5 9 - 10 Taylor
6 10 - 9 Pavlik
3 to 3 46 - 47 Taylor. Very close fight. Nothing like what the judges had it. Edit: 56 - 57
Taylor was clearly winning the 7th before he got caught.

How was Taylor clearly winning the 7th ?? Pavlik was landing the better jabs alot of Taylor's jabs were getting blocked.

Re: who did you have leading the fight b4 the stoppage
Taylor was being totally outfought in the seventh!
All he did was jab and take two jabs to the face!!!

Re: who did you have leading the fight b4 the stoppage
I don't know what you guys were looking at. As soon as I get home (can't see you tobe here at work) I'll take a look at that round again. But as far as I can remember, Taylor came out strong at the beginning of the 7th and connected some sharp combos. As the round went on Pavlik landed some hard stiff shots but, in my opinion, not enough to be winning the round......
That is untill he landed those HUGE right hands that sent Taylor to the corner and ultimately ended his night.
Anyway, it don't matter much does it. The point of the thread is that this was a damn close fight and no where near as one sided as the judges had it.

Re: who did you have leading the fight b4 the stoppage
Well Rookie fan, il join u in that pursuit and watch it again :) But to my memory Pavlik landed a lot in relation to JT.
I was really sorry to see this result, i was dead wrong.
-
Re: who did you have leading the fight b4 the stoppage
I watch it twice. The first time was live and I never really pay attention to that when Pavlik fights.
1. Pavlik 10-9
2. Taylor 8-10
3. Pavlik 10-9
4. 10-10
5. Taylor 9-10
6. Pavlik 10-9
Then in the 7th round came the flurry of pain and Taylor was out with his eyes open.
57-57 tie

Re: who did you have leading the fight b4 the stoppage
My score card:
Taylor: 09 10 09 09 10 09 = 56
Pavlik: 10 08 10 10 09 10 = 57
The 7th round was decent but Pavlik just kept landing that brutal Jab which was just snapping Taylor's head back. Taylor's face was swelling quickly. Kelly was the aggressor for most of that round. Taylor was trying very hard but he was getting worked over by a very strong Kelly Pavlik. Taylor was fading fast while Kelly seemed to be getting stronger and that is why he got knocked out becuase he took too many big shots. (It was the overall accumulation factor) Credit to Taylor for hanging in there but not many people can sustain the amount of power shots landed by Pavlik. His knock out ratio speaks for itself.
:o
I might add that Kelly has already proven he can knock out fighters who have never been knocked out before.
;)

You are right Pavlik's jab is very painful looking.

Re: who did you have leading the fight b4 the stoppage
i had Taylor by 1 point maybe 2 at best , but as Kelly said before the fight JT will fade so he would have won anyway in my opinion , he had shot his bolt and was tiring fast
-
Re: who did you have leading the fight b4 the stoppage
i had pavlik
4-2
but i thought pavlik won the fifth
and taylor won the sixth

yeah WAYYYY off on the 7th round.. Taylor at a number of solid jabs straight to his face setting him up for the TKO.. I had Taylor winning the fight until that round though.. i was impressed with Pav's jab throughout the fight.. i know that Taylor doesn't have much defense besides slight head movement, but Pav kept landing jabs at will and it clearly slowed Jermain down.

Re: who did you have leading the fight b4 the stoppage
i would have to go back and watch the fight again to give the exact rounds and scores but i remember feeling as though pavlik was up at the time of the stoppages. i pretty suprised at how the judges had scored the fight for taylor.
-
Re: who did you have leading the fight b4 the stoppage
at first i had pavlik as the one in front..
but when i saw some of the stats, i thought of the fight, in a different way..
its so easy to say, he was the agressor and throwing more punches.. because of that, it looks like he is dominating, BUT..
you tend to forget about the defensive aspects of the fights, making your opponent miss, throwing less and landing more, and after that i had taylor up by 2-3 points, at the end of round 6.. up until the ko, taylor was doing much better then i expected..
they landed the same amount of punches, but the fact is, that taylor just threw less and avoided more.. eventhoug his defence wasnt especially co-ordinated, he made pavlik miss hell of a lot of punches, which is also a part of scoring fights.
-
Re: who did you have leading the fight b4 the stoppage
I had Pavlik up 57-56.
I had Taylor with a 10-8 in Round 2, and a 10-9 in Round 5. All the other rounds were 10-9 Pavlik.
57-56 Taylor would have been an understandable card as well.

58-55 Taylor 4 rounds to 2
So you were changed by stats?
Your eyes did not decieve you. Kelly was tattoing Taylors azz. Did you see Taylors face?
You are going to tell me that Taylor's face was swollen by the air that was surronding him? LOL He was getting tagged hard and he has a very tough chin. He was getting shaken by lot's of Kelly's shots and little by little they took their toll.
The refs were being payed to score the fight for Taylor, that was obvious. Too bad for Taylor because he was knocked the phuk out.
After the fight, Pavlik took those score cards and wipped his ghostly white azz with them.
LMAO!
Taylor was denied from stealing yet another fight.
Hallelujah!
I wonder what Taylors face would have looked like had he not had this superior defense you are reffering to. That same defense was the one that allowed him to get knocked the phuk out.
;D

my opinion is call the fight as you see it. stats can be very miss leading sometimes and dont always tell the truth about the fight
-
Re: who did you have leading the fight b4 the stoppage
The punchstats did tell the truth about this fight though. Very close fight, i had pavlik up by 1 after 6 rounds.

That's exactly how I saw it, I also could completely understand anyone who had Taylor up by 1 round.
