Pacquiao-Barrera officials named!

An all-American line-up of officials was announced with Tony Weeks named as referee while the judges would be Tom Schreck, Jerry Roth and Glenn Trowbridge. Pacquiao's trainer Freddie Roach a few days ago created a stir as he expressed his concern should the NSAC name Joe Cortez as the third man in the ring. Roach was quoted as saying that Cortez "favors Hispanic fighters" and that he would prefer to see other well-known referees like Kenny Bayless and Vic Drakulich get the job instead.

i never knew that against joe cortez. but i dont know what to say. maybe roach is not taking any chances. thanks for the update ICB.

Roach sure doesn't sound like a trainer who is supremely confident in his fighter. He really has showed himself to be an annoying prick for this fight.

I was hoping for Steve Smogar.

Joe Cortez is a good referee, Roach really needs to clam it.

Roach is talking an awful lot. Its a good thing IMO, I dont think camp went as smoothly as it should have and we are hearing a lot of prep talk.

Roach is the type of trainer who would drop whatever camp to train for the latest slice of the cake. Oscar, Hopkins. He also allows fighters to come in underprepared. I love Toney but Roach did a shitty job with him in recent years. Manny might just be in some serious trouble here.

Roach has been acting like a fuckin nob for this fight. I hope Pacqiuao loses and fires his sorry arse.

yeah i actually LOVE joe cortez! havent really thought of any evidence that he sides with latino fighters over non latino fighters can someone give a clear example of this please?

Even Barrera called him a s**t trainer who cost Oscar the fight with Floyd and he was right if Roach focused more on fitness . But he doesnt enforce enough discipline in his fighters . Pac didnt even turn up for training and wasnt in the country . That shakey man just wanst his paycheck

its all useful/useless distractions roach is creating for barerra. it depends if it works or not. roach is trying to piss off barerra by saying all these things and guess what? barerra is responding. he should just shrug it off and focus on the fight instead of responding to roach.

You are joking, right? Barrera is a veteran fighter...you think he is going to fall for Roach's mind games?! I think Roach realizes how well prepared Marco is. Focus is DEFINITELY not an issue with Barrera or his camp. It certainly is an issue with Manny and his. Roach can try and sound as confident as he wants...but his actions recently show insecurity. If he is so confident in his fighter, why would he have to create distractions for Pac? Why not just let his fighter's actions do the speaking in the ring? Why act like a whiner...complaining about hand wraps, referees, etc. If Pac gets upset in this fight...Roaches reputation will take a big hit.

wow, the things roach are saying aren't directed at you guys and are just pissing the shit out of yous. i can imagine how barrera is feeling. ;D

i like it when roach said he'll take some of the fault when oscar lost to mayweather, but it will be to his credit when pacman beats the crap out of barrera since he's also the one who trained manny. :)

Roach should ride his meal ticket in Manny as long as he can...because he isn't having much success with other fighters. And what...you think a pissed off Barrera is a good thing for Pac? You think Barrera, who has been involved in so many big fights, is going to throw his game plan out of the window because he is mad at Roach?! This will only make him more focused and determined. Maybe Roach will ask if the fight can be postponed so he can think of more excuses in case his fighter loses.

Hmmm. Not long to wait now.

No way Barrera gets the crap beaten out of him. I see Pac taking more punishment than he ever has in his career in this one.

Barrera is going to be surprisingly quick and powerful to boot. When the first round is over Pac will know just how tough his night is going to be.

I think even pac has had enough of roach, pac did leave roach in california while he went back in the p.i to train not letting roach know but then roach followed. I'm not so confident about roach and pacs relationship anymore, ever since boxing's whore (oscar) stole pacs coach ;D
