Current Heavyweight Division
Hi to one and all! Currently the state of the heavyweight division is not so good compared to the era of ali but which particular fighter/fighters do u currently root for? I want to see more of david tua ;D if u go on youtube u can see his last 2 recent fights which ended in beautiful knockouts.

Re: Current Heavyweight Division
Actually your screen name says it all about the heavies for me personally. LOL :lolhaha: ZZZ :cwm33: No offense intended towards you man, and welcome to the board. Have your 1st CC on me ;D

The title holders need to fight each other, the young undefeateds need to fight the older guys and so on.
There are some very interesting fights that could be made right now it's just a shame it isn't happening

Well put Lyle.
I would love to see some of the older guys that have lost their titles match up with each other.
Ruiz, Byrd, Golota, Tua, Sanders, Klitschko, Brewster, Brock, Rahman, Lyakhovich, Maskaev, Peter, Valuev, Fields, Sam, & Akinwande...those are some stinkers in there...but if you couple them...you have some interesting matches...the problem is that most of them won't get up for one or the other.
It sucks.

Re: Current Heavyweight Division
Speaking of which, Lyle, had you heard the rumor that Tye Fields is supposed to be fighting against Hasim Rahman?
I know you don’t like Fields & all…but I’m curious to see how he handles someone that can actually fight.
I know Rahman aint all that anymore…but it’d be Fields first true test outside of Seldon & Harris.
You have to admit that Fields knockout ratio is pretty scary…even though it’s against some serious no hopers. It’s something like 23 or 24 first round knockouts I think.

Re: Current Heavyweight Division
Chagaev is my favourite fighter. It's a shame he had to pull out of the unification fight.

Re: Current Heavyweight Division
Its a lackluster division. Guys like Povetkin, Arreola, and Chambers could take advantage of the state of the division and hopefully they do. I have high hopes for Povetkin in particular so hopefully he an pass his biggest test in Byrd. Plus by boy Guillermo Jones in the division now so hopefully well hear more from him.
-
Re: Current Heavyweight Division
The heavyweight division is Wlad. Period.
I'm still holding out hope that one day Lennox comes back and takes on Wlad. :-\

:coolclick: on the Povetkin vs Byrd hopes...I got 'em too.
I've really been wanting David "Nino" Rodriguez to step up. He's an up & comer that's been knocking out the majority of his competition in the first round. He's fought like 26 people & has knocked out all in the first round but five or six & I think he beat them in 2 or 3 rounds...problem is...he aint faced anyone worthy to my knowledge.

Re: Current Heavyweight Division
I've got big hopes for Odlanier Solis. He'll be a force in a couple years no doubt.
Maybe we could see a rematch between him and Haye for a world title in a few years........

cc back. Havent seen much of Rodriguez but guys like him, Malik Scott, JD Chapman etc are wasting their time and going nowhere. None of them are furthuring themselves or their careers. Rodriguez is a little more promising than the others but I wouldnt be surprised to see him lose to a journeyman with a less than steller record. He has really fought some very poor competiton and hasnt stepped it up at all.

He's smokin' some asses too?
Don't know that I've seen or heard of that one.
Rodriguez does seem like good people...but the fact that he's only gone 4 rounds in all of his fights does'nt make him a shoe in for me as a hopeful. I'd like for him to do something though...anything close to a challenge.

You didn't see Oganov on Shobox last month? He came from Russia promoted by Gary Shaw with a record of 28-0 with 28 ko's or therabouts, 100% KO ratio anyway.
He fought that Zuniga guy who Pavlik knocked out a while back in what was supposed to be his big break fight.
Trouble is he didn't actually know how to box and ended up getting KTFO in the 8th round :-\

He was great in the amateurs, but I saw his last 2 fights and wasnt too immpressed. He seems to still have an amateurish style and can be sloppy at times. Still he has started fighting good fighters since his debut so i guess hes not going to look amazing cause he didnt take time to get some experience as a pro against light opposition so hopefully he will adapt quick againt good fighters. He does have good potential though.

Lol nice joke and yea i m totally fine with it. Its indeed lolzzz in the division now, yesterday i watched a video clip of james toney and he was saying its better to be in the heavyweight division than the lighter ones because he does not need to watch his weight and can eat hamburgers and hotdogs anytime without worries..
Currently i hope to see the fight between oleg maskaev and samuel peter, however like what some of u guys already said, some fighters just try to avoid the fights and i think thats what maskaev is doing now. :o

Re: Current Heavyweight Division
Man after Peter did so shitty and how bullshit those scorecards are I really hope he gets a fight with Wlad. So Wlad can send his slow ass packing. First bullshit Don King scorecards against Toney I and the he has to get some points out of his ass to beat McCline. Peter is the new Jermain Taylor of the HW division.

Re: Current Heavyweight Division
the heavy-weight division is always compared to the greatest HW era of all time rather than just being appreciated for what it is for some reason...
W. Klitchko is as exciting of a KO guy as anyone in boxing right now: look at his slo-mo hits on brewster and brock....
he has had devastating KOs in his last fights and has got ko'd himself, which makes him a very exciting fighter to me.. Klitchko is also very skilled and very fast for his size and weight...has one of the best jabs and straight rights in boxing..
without klitchko i wouldnt have gotten in to boxing again a few years ago.. so the HW division is still bringing in fans.. and it is bringing them in all over the world...
the HW division has solid champs.... sultan, ruslan,(peter), klitchko, maskeav,
i like the HW divsion and think it is underrated.. but the HW's can be real boring with crappy fighters..... but i think the current champs, are exciting....

Re: Current Heavyweight Division
Frozen I am starting to think you know nothing about boxing first off you say Magarito is not very good boxer but you think Zab is the best when he losses all the time and has not won against a good fighter in a long fucking time and then you have the guts to say Evander was never that great to begin with well I have to say your knowledge is lacking my friend and Holyfield no doubt a top 15 all time geatest heavyweight of all time and with wins over old Foreman and Holmes, Moore, Tyson, and Bowie and held the belt more times then anyone at heavy he is no doubt a great heavy weight champion and as far as Sultan goes or what ever his name is he is lucky Evander was 44 years of age because if it would of happen with the young version of Evander your boy toy Sultan who could not even beat Austin would of got knocked the fuck out and he is lucky he fought a old Evander

....if Evander's not a great/good heavyweight then what the fuck is Sultan proving by letting him go the distance.....it wouldn't happen vs Wladimir.
Wlad would destroy Holyfield and Sultan!
Sultan DREW with Ray Austin.....he DREW with him......Ray Austin knocked Sultan down TWICE....and Wladimir KO'd Ray Austin without ever even throwing a right cross.

:coolclick: Lyle. This is how I feel. Yeah, they're not the best that has ever been, but I think they're capable of having great fights. Styles make fights and no reason why they can't be put together.
Legion...I'd call it the Overweight division. Far too many out of shape fatties around who spend twelve rounds just looking for a hug.

Contrary to popular opinion. I believe Ruslan Chagaev is the best Heavyweight now.

I have to agree with Lyle...The HW division is really not so bad IF the fights would get made we would have some decent action.....I must admit I was very disappointed when the Sultan/SL match fell through I felt that was going to be a good one...
But none the less some good guys are out there and good fights to be made it is just up to the promoters to make it happen

Vlad is the only heavyweight champ. Even though he's still green, I'd take Arreola against the other three.

I've only seen him two or three times but he smokes everyone that he faces...granted they are not top caliber fighters...but they are atleast breathing.
Thoughts?

Yeah Wacko, I read that Tye's promotors began negotiating this after his last fight. They plan this as his first big test. Rahman would fold in this one. I don't think he can deal with it anymore. Tye has a big punch, so I'd fancy him to come through this.

I have not heard the rumors
It's about time Tye Fields fought someone decent
It's a bad fight for Rahman he needs to fight better guys to stay relevant
I am not excited about the fight....though I hope Rahman destroys Fields
