Kessler with some big talk !!
Kessler: I'll smash Calzaghe!
By Steen Uno
"I actually fear that Calzaghe will do all match spoiling efforts to try to block me out of the game," says WBC/WBA super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler (39-0, 29 KOs) . "So I´ll obviously have to face him the hardest way of all and smash him within the distance." Now just 12 days away from the much anticipated super middle triple unification clash with fellow undefeated WBO reigning Joe Calzalge on November 3/4 at Millennium Stadium in Cardiff), Kessler has heated up the verbal assault. "Calzaghe is going to use every effort and any trick to avoid me in clean fighting," commented Kessler. "From first bell I´ll be prepared to beat my way out of infighting in a very rough way. I expect Calzaghe´s chin to take my first punch and also the second. But take my word, the third one will explode him to stagger - and the fourth will stop him and the fight as well...!" (More)

Well at least his honest. Its gonna ruin him.
"Calzaghe is going to use every effort and any trick to avoid me in clean fighting,"
Yup, i hope he does.

Re: Kessler with some big talk !!
Kessler by early knock out. Calzaghe's joke of a reign will finally be over
-
Re: Kessler with some big talk !!
Wow...this sounds reminiscent of Lacy prior to their match up...all talk.
Kessler better deliver once he steps through those ropes.
If he does...much love & respect to the new champion...if not...I hope everyone who thrashes Joe here has the balls to pay homage to the old champion after he's dispatched another #1 contender.
Win, lose, or draw...Joe's earned at the least that.
-
Re: Kessler with some big talk !!
yes this is going to be great. I actual dreamt that Kessler was KO´d in the first round, what a nightmare 8)
-
Re: Kessler with some big talk !!
he'l get humiliated just like lacy did.
and before the calzaghe haters start with the 'lacy is nothing like kessler' let me just say i already know they are different fighters....
still be the same one sided beatdown tho

Re: Kessler with some big talk !!
I don't really care who wins but i am really looking forward to this fight....seems like a toss up so far fans from both sides have come up with some really interesting reasons why they feel thier guy will win. I can't wait !!!

:coolclick: to you both...but I think 24 hours for you ds91.
See...now that's the kinda shit you like to hear as a fight fan...unbiased & thrilled to be a spectator.
I ride on both sides of the fence...I like & support both men...as has been the case with a pretty good bit of the fights that I have seen of late. Most of my favorite fighters have been tossed into the ring with each other lately & it's generally become a win win situation for me. If all those fights ended in a draw it'd just be WIN for me. ;D
Truthfully...there's one biggie on each side that can decide the outcome for both men.
Calzaghe : Volume/output.
Kessler : Power.
That being said...if one or the other comes out on top for...well...one or the other...it's going to be a "Lacy-esque" shut out just like last time...but it may or may not fall in Joe's favor.
I keep wrestling with who I want to win.
If Joe wins then one of the most likeable nice guy's of the sport will have to lose his "O". Many fans will lable him nothing more than a product of careful management & hype.
If Kess wins then one of the most likeable nice guy's of the sport will have to jump to the back of the line & start rebuilding. All that he has solidified as a champion will be lost. Many fans will lable him nothing more than a product of careful management & hype.
The thought of it all totally sickens me. The truth is...these are two of the best Super Middleweight combatants that the division has to offer. Two of the most exciting fighters are finally going to be face to face...toe to toe...matching power for skill at the expense of our enjoyment..
Again...the thought of many fans ripping into two world champions like they have been over the past 3-4 months leading up to the bout totally sickens me...that's why I'm crossing my fingers for an expolsive & action pack match that ends in a draw.
Go ahead bitches...call me a gotdam sellout...I can take it. ;D

Re: Kessler with some big talk !!
"Calzaghe is going to use every effort and any trick to avoid me in clean fighting,"
By this, does he mean that Calzaghe is not going to stand there and let Kessler pound him with his one-two for 12 rounds like Librado Andrade did? That is what it sounds like to me.
And Wacko, you express yourself fantastically well, and your analysis is second to none as usual. You bag your usual CC mate, and although I firmly fall on the Calzaghe side of the fence, I have always tried to keep it respectful and realistic about this fight, and at least make an effort to look at it objectively.
Whether he wins or not come November 3, Kessler seems to be the most obvious candidate to be the real future of the Super Middleweight division, because Calzaghe has already indicated that he's not going to hang around at the top forever, and wants a few more huge fights before he goes. There are also five or six decent prospects in the division which might make the next few years more competitive in the SMW's, because Calzaghe has pretty much been in a bit of a void.
Anyhow, come fight night, what I want more than anything is for Calzaghe to perform to the very best of his ability, and if Kessler has the tools to dismantle him, then so be it.

I like Calzaghe as a fighter and you have to respect a man who has been champion for so long...I don't care what people say about his comp as champ...he has fought some good name and you know what it doesn't matter how good you are there is always that chance of an off night where a guy you are better then by 200% could get the win...EG Chavez/Randall...Joe has avoided that...
My only real dislike of Calzaghe and the only thing I ever really fault him for is never wanting to leave home to fight...In fact he will do anything he can to stay home....other then two or so fights in Germany....I am sorry the whole he is champ why should he have to go anywhere crap does not fly with me....
EG all the talks with Roy Jones people....Calzaghe did not want to leave home to fight Jones and I do not care what anyone says....
People say you need to come to the champ if you want his title but when you are a guy like Jones who needs (or at the times) needed no title to show he was the man...you need come to him because when you are at that state of your career ( for either) you are fighting for legecy not belts...Jones is with out a doubt the bigger legecy...Calzaghe should have gone to Jones not the other way around....
Other then Calzaghe not wanting to venture from home I think he has been a great champ and is worthy of all the respect in the world....Anyone who denies Calzaghe is a great fighter or at minimum great champion is not talking with boxing knowledge he is talking out of his ass.......
With all that being said I hope Kessler knocks him on his ass

:coolclick: in another 24 hours & thanks babe. I try to keep it on the level with these bouts for myself & the RBR's...& honestly, I just about have to when you got two of your favorites on the same bill in the same bout.

Just out of curiousity...who do you think that these 5 or 6 are?
Leave Kessler out since they are warring next...I'm just wondering if we are thinking along the same lines...or have I missed someone.

Re: Kessler with some big talk !!
I hate to be the spoiler Wack, but if Joe loses and gets ridden off forever it isn't the end of the world. I wont even feel sorry for him. Look at it this way: I would never feel sorry for a guy who could retire from it all, kindof comfortably with just one fight against a peter manfredo.
-
Re: Kessler with some big talk !!
Well, for me Lucian Bute is the one who has proved himself the most so far, however I'd also throw Denis Inkin, Carl Froch and Jeff Lacy, and then there are Allan Green, Andrade, Robert Stieglitz and a couple of others, who could still step up their game and make it into title contention. As for those that are younger again, I do have hope for Nathan Cleverly, who fights out of the Calzaghe stable, and has overcome a few tought fighters so far, though he's got plenty still to prove.
We could also have Jermain Taylor and somewhere down the line Kelly Pavlik stepping up too, so I could see it becoming a very competitive division.
Any names from the other side of the pond we should be looking out for?
-
Re: Kessler with some big talk !!
Both men deserve props for their willingness to prove they are number one. I can imagine both of them winning this and i honestly cannot pick a winner. Both are the best they have ever faced.
-
Re: Kessler with some big talk !!
Kessler is getting awfully mouthy these days. I just dont have to time to go into why I think Calzaghe will beat him by a relatively wide margin, but thats the way I see it.
Anyone expecting Calzaghe to be stopped early is smoking crack. Never happened before and no reason why it starts happening now.
Cannot wait for this fight. It will be a goody.

That says it all, cc.
I'm not a big Calzaghe fan, but he's got my respect for fighting the best in his division in this fight at least.

The I agrees: Stieglitz, Inkin, & Froch.

No to Taylor or Pavlik...I like Pavlik...but he needs to stay at 160 & try to dominate.

Let me be the first to say "KESSLER WAS OVERRATED!". Before any of the bandwagon jumpers off do because trust me, that's all you will hear after the fight.

Re: Kessler with some big talk !!
I''m still rooting for Calzaghe,he skills are INSANE,he is skills alone a P4P boxer(was watching his career yesterday,is there ANYTHING this guy cannot do?!) but Kessler does possess the skills to beat him. The thing I'm worried about most is Kessler's jab and timing.
He may try to keep this fight on the outside alllll night long with his piston like jab and 1,2s which are superbly accurate. It's going to be a tough fight for both fighters, both are skilled,I can't wait!!!!!!!¬! :D :D :D :D :D :D
The winner deserves ALOT of credit! I don't want to hear anyone trying to discredit either fighter if they win(although I can already see it happening especially if JC wins!"Kessler was overrated, who had he beaten " etc)
-
Re: Kessler with some big talk !!
I like this fight as the outcome has a universally positive effect.
No matter which guys wins, no matter how. This will have a positive effect on boxing.
An undisputed champion with a win over another legitimate champion reigning at the top. Nice one!
My only reservation is that should Joe win (which i think he will,) he won't be around very long and when he leaves we'll be missing a guy to fill his shoes.
-
Re: Kessler with some big talk !!
I expect a great fight. If it is a close drama neither man would loose out, but count towards their legacy. I hope this will be the toughest fight for both men when Kessler and Calzaghe one day look back to the 3.November.
I don´t get the typical overrated thing, when you loose you are overrated. I have seen that statement several times around, also from some of the expects at saddo as well.
And it is even worse in Denmark, one loss and it is goodbye Kessler.
And of course both of them talk in headlines now. They kind of have to don´t they. I remember when Kessler fought Mundine Kessler stated he was in great shape, only to hide the fact he had a sever backinjury and he shouldn't´t have fought mundine in that condition. I guess he did it because he did not want to be perceived as a pussy. Anyway I think that Calzaghe is the cleverest of the 2. Instead of risking loosing on an injury he clever to only fight when he is 100%. He has weak hands, but I hope it will not be a deciding factor. Win /lose I hope it will be decided by skill not injuries.
Apart from that, I still see Calzaghe get a good taste WHAT Kessler can do. Kessler is fast and very very accurate. How would Calzaghe dodge that ? so far nobody has and I hope the Welsh lion will join the rest. Kessler "just" needs to keep Calzaghe away from in-fight where I can see Kessler could get in trouble.

Although i want joe to win i dont know about the positive effect it has...lets say Joe wins great for him unified
division but when he moves up...are we going to have the wbo wba and wbc have 3 different matchups for the
vacated titles and end up with a completly split division again...and depending on how the fight pans out is anyone going to want to get in the ring with kessler (who ive said prev joe would take this easy but after actually watching more of kessler it clearly isnt an easy fight) after he gives an account of his skills against one of the p4p top boxers.....
Will the new champions have the guts to get in the ring with him?
However if kessler wins we have a unified champ who is definatly sticking around at 168. I think much more positive for SMW if Kessler takes the win.........but nothing would make me happier to see Joe finally unify this division he's ruled for a decade.

Randall never got his just due against Chavez.
Daxx,I am not one to argue or throw out these inflamatory bombs just for a reaction But all I have to judge by is watching the 1st two fights until the original tapes Broke.
Lets be Clear....Overall without a doubt Looking at the context of there entire careers,Chavez was an all around More accomplished, consistent, and "better" fighter in regards to quality of opponents and overall ring record and dedication.Frankie "got clean" long enough to relize his tremendous skills and show that he was indeed a top championship caliber fighter.
He faltered and was proven weak against his toughfest of opponents...Addiction.
In my unbiased fair Opinion I think Randall had Chavez's Number. The first fight was one of the best displays of Boxing and ring general ship put on by an "underdog" against a living legend great I have ever witnessed.
I know what everyone said "chavez not training properly" "Chavez had too many Cerveza's" "Chavez Distracted by legal and personal Problems" But the bottom line is EVERYONE has Issues....thats Chavez problem.Randall put on a clinic and did not crumble capping it off with placing JCC neatly on his seat for the first time in his career.
The 2nd I believe Randall was on his way to a repeat OR possibly.....MAYBE....stopping Chavez..I know"LMAO...LOL " etc.I think it was a travesty and boarderline parlor trick the way Chavez Found a way out and "won" title back. For the 1st three rounds they stood in close and really traded big body shots. Both warned for low blows in 1st.The 2nd round saw Randall spear Chavez with that Powerful Straight right and Chavez was buckled bad and his nose Bloodied and come the 4th -7th Chavez actually turned Boxer and was backing up still landing good body but Randall showed no effects and fired off sharp punches.Chavez looked tired and discouraged. In the 8th on the inside with Chavez leading with head(A large portion of the night) ,Randall roles under after being clipped by right and the two collied.Cut above rt. eye.....Lane rules it Unintentional and deducts point.Doctor said he could go on...."You can go",Mills ask Doctor and Chavez "stop the fight?"Chavez Shakes his head forward saying "My head"( I dont speak Spanish but body language is universal) Dr.Homansky said If Chavez wanted to continue He probably would have let him. Chavez and King found a way to get belt back and did not pursue what should have been Immediate Rematch. It took TEN (10) years before Randall (fresh out of drug re-hab and relapse >:mad) was given another shot....From what I saw twice In the complete context of Those two in the same ring IN Both Fights. Randall was just as good as Chavez....Without doubt. AND Chavez Knew It!! I apologize For highjacking thread and do tend to let passion and thoughts run on.Daxx Im not trying to one up you bro and respect your insight and opinion in these threads. These fights have stuck with me for Years and I needed To VENT .CC to you Daxx.

Care to put your sig where your mouth is young Mr. Demise? I challenge you to a one month sig bet on the outcome of this fight, with the winner getting to put in the sig for the other for one month.... Bring It!
So you gonna front up VD, or are you all mouth and no trousers bro?
:o
Well if VD don't nail his colours to the mast by Sunday, I'll take Daxx up on the sig bet, cause I know he's man enough. ;)

Man I was watching some Kessler fights and one thing stuck out at me.....the motherfucker can jab. He jabs crisp and clean. As a fan of the jab, I have go to think he will do well......man it is hard to dominate someone with a really good jab....Quartey, Wright, Lewis come to mind.

:coolclick: Totally agree. I would love to see Kessler be able to make a fight out of the night...but in the end...I want Joe to win. Kessler's young & could still make noise at 168lbs even with a loss on his record...no shame in losing to "the Man".
Joe would lose a hell of a lot in a loss...as goofy as that sounds. Kessler could regain his status as the number 1 contender.

Re: Kessler with some big talk !!
Yes I want Joe to win too. If he does that silly showboating he did in the Bika fight, he will lose by KO though.

Nope.

Oh come on if the fight was in denmark u'd be worried that Kessler would get the decision. Im sorry i forgot no one is allowed to slightly criticise Joe C without being called names.

CC. Eagle. I like the reversal. Boxing had has its share of........if not robberies, then def. questionable decisions.
