The heavyweight division is weak, if he fails to win a title i'll be shocked. Lewis beat him fair and square, just look at his face. that was caused by punches.Quote:

I think the answer to 1) answers 2) and 3)
If comes back strong then i dont think he has any serious problem with either of those two champs, he's not too old - and i think he will only return if he is confident of being injury free - he will always be able to see how good he is compared to his brother, so will be well aware if he is a long way off his game.
That said a return against any of: sam peter; Mccline, povetkin, valuev or gomez would pose some form of stiff test; beating anyone of those would give us a strong indication he was back.
4) No, i think it was near perfect. Scaore cards show vitali slightly up - as he was. But his face was an absolute mess; he could have gone on but each round it would have been more and more difficult for him. It was stopped at the right time. Shame we didnt get the rematch though.
Only he knows how good a shape he can get to as before, but he still should be able to beat most of the guys. 4) There's absolutely zero doubt IMO the fight had to be stopped on those cuts, as bad as I've ever seen.
Vitali may not be as good a boxer as Wlad , but as a fighter i think he is better, if hes as good as he was then he beats most of the guys out there.
I think he could be good as long as he's healthy...his style is so that if he loses a little speed he'll be ok and he can still outpoint anyone as his style is awkward and he's hard to hit flush.Quote:

As for the fight with Lewis, I think the stoppage was good and I also think Vitali gets too much crap for his fight vs Chris Byrd if anyone ever wanted to see heart on display it was both Lennox and Vitali that night they fought their asses off and it's wrong for people to judge Lewis on his layoff and Vitali for a previous fight which had nothing to do with that brawl.
Vitali had the ability to be the new King of the heavyweight division once Lennox Lewis left. When he took reign's people were pleased that while the rest of the division was in chaos the champion was solid and no one questioned his quality. In short we had a legit heavyweight champion not just a title holder.
If he returns soon he will still be amajor force and win a title but I just hope he does not pull another I am coming back no I am not moment, reguardless of reasons. You can only get the hopes up of fans so many times before they decide they can care less.
He was a top notch fighter who had gained the respect of everyone in the sport. I would have liked him to stck around a bit longer as champion but injuries happen, Just if he is returning then return don't say you are then bail.
This is the crux. I will be very surprised if he is able to stay healthy long enough for a come back.Quote:

Vitali has the spirit to fight but I'm not sure his body will allow it....it's a damn shame because he was such a force in the division
Yep a back is definitely bad news. Once your back goes, it doesn't matter how anything else is. There's always next year. Maybe he can come back next year, and with most of the big fights settled in the lower weights, he can bring back some interest to the heavyweight division. Its not looking good tho, he ain't getting any younger.Quote:

1Yes. Vitali pushes himself too the limit during training thats why he ends up with so many injuries befor a fight, if he makes it through training someones in for a beating.
2 Vitali ko by the 8th
3Vitali ko by the 6th
4Bad as I hate to admit it the stop was for the best, but imo Vitali retired LL.
1. No, he's only getting older. I'm not sure he'll ever fight again, to be honest.Quote:

4. No. Vitali was cut by a legal punch and had a horrific cut. If it was the 10th or 11th round it would've been understandable to let him finish the fight. But it was only the 6th round, there's no way he could make it much longer. The doctor would have been putting Vitali's eye at risk.
I like your style of thinking!Quote:

Jealousy? I don't think so if jealousy sets in get ready for a fight.Retire?I think he's just finding it hard to give up boxing like alot of others that are older than him.
Nah f**k that jealousy sh*t.
Vitali and Vlad don't seem to let that kind of crap seperate them. Should check out their website. They seem to be true brothers!
In all honest opinions. If the Lewis fight had gone on. Who says Vitali would have K.Oed Lewis?
LL knew it thats why he would not give a rematch.Quote:

Really becasue :
1. Vitali himself did not want to stop by any means
2. Its a while ago now but am I right it was stopped by the ref without the Doctor taking a look? I was thinking it should have had the ring Dotors views - professionals if you see what I mean
3. It was after all the biggest possible fight in boxing - the WBC Heavyweight Title - I thought Vitali should have been given every chance to continue, for example they could have said "You are cut - you have 1 more round or we stopping it". This fight is one which boxers must dream about since they are 6 years old, it should not be stopped unless absolutely essential imo due to the enormous amount at stake - and I think it was stopped with a lot of doubt regarding that point.
To be honest at the time the only thought in my head was "Lennox is in trouble and the judges want it stopped", and nothing to do with Vitali at all
Just my view dont kill me please !!!
Vitalis career IMO is a bit hard to judge cause he was cut short of it due to injury.
But you still gotta judge him regardless of injury.
I'm big on the Klistchko Bros. I have almost both of their careers I'm missing a fwe fights on both.
I was rooting for Vitaly when he faced Lennox and I thought he was winning the fight. I thought Lennox was gonna hit the canvas within the next rounds. Lennox at one point IMO was almost out on his feet but Vitaly missed with his punches.
You get no excuses from me Lennox won that fight fair and square and whoever says that the fight was stopped too early or tries to come up with a valid excuse as to why Vitaly lost is not being real. I was pissed when the fight was stopped cause I knew Vitaly had Lennox but the cut was not from a head butt nore was it from anything from outside of the rules. It came from a punch wether it was the thumb or not. Injuries kicked Vitaly in the ass and he fought thru them several times he won but he also lost. The people who say Vitaly retired and or opted out from fighting because he was scared of his opponent are just ignorant if Vitaly was scared of anything it was being permanently injured in a fight to a point of damagin his arm.
Listen for all the Klit fans that think that Vitali was going to win well look at it like this Lennox was coming back and that cut would of been a huge problem if it went on and Lennox had no rematch because he was 38 and he would of been 39 maybe 40 before he had the rematch so why risk it at old age
Mr140 I think it's pretty safe to say that at the moment that the fight was stopped Lennox was losing by at least 3 rounds.Quote:

I don't question the stoppage because it was legit.
Nor do I question Lennox for retiring, shit! why not go out on top and let Vitaly fend for himself and let him chase another fight that will give him stardome. Lennox IMO did right by retiring and turning away is one of the hardest things a fighter must do only some can turn away and never look back. For the most part they turn away walk away and then look back and give it another go.
Regardless of who would HAVE won the fact of the matter is that Lennox did win and he won fair and square.
Yea i know Lennox was behind but at the same time it was only half over and Lennox was coming back. Plus the cut would effect Vitali in the other half is what i meant to say and i just stated that because some early comments that Viatli was most likely to win i disagree. And yea that is one thing Lennox had was smarts not many can turn away and that to me is one of his best moves is knowing when he should hang it up.
