Kessler WAS INJURED in the weeks before the fight !!!
Well I guess you guys will be all over me now. But it comes from Kessler himself here is the translation.
My own take is that I think he as very stupid not to postbone the match, he must have underestimated Calzaghe since he fought he could win if he wasn´t 100%. He stated that if the fight got postboned we was afraid that it would never happen. Still stupid I think. He also fought Mundine with a back injury.
I hope this is the last time Kessler do this.
Interview with Kessler:
Kessler: I can now reveal that I had a hand injury and I couldn't use the hand the last 3 weeks.
Why did you keep it a secret ?
Kessler: Are you insane had I revealed it I would have been done for.
Why didn´t you try to postbone the match ?
Kessler: Had I done that the fight would never had happened.
Despite the injured hand Kessler refused to use the hand as a excuse for the defeat.
Kessler: I lost to a better man. It was Joes night.

And I agree Joe was the better man at the night, but I hope Kessler have learn something from that fight ;)

AS far as my danish goes, and I am Danish. Kessler has in no way blamed the defeat on the hand injury. I just fought it was stupid of him to fight in less than stellar condition against a opponent like Calzaghe. I rank Calzaghe higher than Kessler now no doubt about that.

at the press conference he stated he had no hand problem whn asked, he also went on to say that this was the first time in the last few fights i forget the exact amount that he has had a perfect training camp without any problems at all and that
"I was i had a bag here to show you all that there is no problem with my hand"
Truth is i think there was some minor problem with the hand. there is very seldomly smoke without fire, and for the story of a hand problem to come out without any reasonf or it doesn't really happen. I do however believe the hand problem was minimal and that problem or not nothing would of changed last night, kessler was in no vissible pain when they took his gloves off, no wincing with connecting with the punches or anything.

Let's be honest,his hand wasn't injured. If it was,I don't see how it affected his performance. If it was,I don't see what he would have done differently,he would still have been outworked etc.

I agree that I don't think it would have change the final outcome either. But still why go up against Calzaghe in lesser shape than 100%. Kessler wanted to secure the fight and the payday, I guess that is the reason.
And Kessler did through a lot of power punches. But Had it been me I had postbone the fight 4 sure. Not sure if Kessler is as smart I wrote this before. Still love his boxing though ;)

Kessler is a class act and didn't even mention the injury when queried after the verdict.
Even if he did, he knew the risks - and was happy throwing it when he had too.

It was the best Kessler vs. the best Calzaghe. Thats all there is to it. And give Kessler his credit. By saying he was injured, which he was not, you are saying he was fighting injured and wasnt at his best. Kessler was not fighting like an injured man and was at his very best so you shouldnt insinuate that he wasnt, its not fair to him or Calzaghe.

Oh I read what you posted. I also saw someone grab Kessler's leg in the 8th round and that is why the ref stepped in. lol
I am watching the fight again and I don't see Kessler having any trouble throwing his hands. I don't see him in any pain. Calzaghe is just a better boxer. I like Kessler but this is just an excuse if you ask me.

Immediately after the fight Kessler was interviewed by British TV at ringside and was directly asked "was there a problem with the hand?" and he said "no, there was no problem with the hand" then he looked at the ground, a beaten man.

First of all its Kessler that said this , to clarify the matter.
Ha had an injury prior the fight as he could not use the hand the last 3 weelsbefore. I agree at the night he threw the punches and it didn´t seems to bother him at the night.
This is also what he said himself. I have change the headlines ;)
