Mikkel Kessler VS Carl 'the Cobra' Froch
-
Re: Mikkel Kessler VS Carl 'the Cobra' Froch
i know one thing for sure Froch needs to fight Kessler because now Calzaghe is moving to LH then who else is there to fight , Froch needs to put up or shut up basically.

Re: Mikkel Kessler VS Carl 'the Cobra' Froch
Froch is 29 and is soon fighting at domestic level against a 37 year old ex-porn actor who is retiring after the fight win or lose. Let's see him fight and beat an actual world class fighter before he even thinks of going in the ring with Kessler. I can't believe people are so high on this guy, he does nothing but make his mouth go and fight tomato cans. Personally I don't think he'd last six rounds with Kessler.

I have to agree. He is highly touted but kessler will hurt him early!

Re: Mikkel Kessler VS Carl 'the Cobra' Froch
Froch is wasting time at 29 he should be a champ by now , thats if he has wot it takes , let the talking stop and the fighting start Carl

Re: Mikkel Kessler VS Carl 'the Cobra' Froch
Kessler don't like being countered.
Froch is a great counter puncher - especially to the gut.
;)

Froch is actually 30. Not like it exactly changes your point though.
Anyway, there is precisely no point for Kessler to fight Froch, unless it is for a title. Besides Kessler would hammer him.

Re: Mikkel Kessler VS Carl 'the Cobra' Froch
Froch has a longer jab, is more difficult to hit, slicker, better reflexes, harder puncher, better right uppercut, more punch variety, even better ring generalship, and more patient.
Kessler stands in front of you and throws jabs, crosses and a textbook hook to the body or head, his defense is feet and blocking shots to the body and head on the way back.
Froch bangs him up with the counters from range and comes forward to stop him smoothly in the fifth.

you say put up or shut up? ok i don't like froch to much, but the guy is chasing a shot at one of the best SMw of all times even after the kessler show down - yes i want to see him step up the class of fighters, but why say put up or shut up as if he runs his mouth but is scared to fight any real threat???
Reid is a name, shot or not a name is a name...

Re: Mikkel Kessler VS Carl 'the Cobra' Froch
I watched the calzaghe-kessler fight for the third time and i would say that the fight was even closer than i thought after watching it the first time. Kessler would destroy froch. Froch would get froched.

I watched it 3 times - drunk as fuck, unbelievable-hangover, comfortably drunk - and thought Calzgahe was more of a cert winner than I originally thought.
I agree on that showing Kessler would start firm favourite and blast Froch's head off.

So if Froch would fight Ray Leonard it'll be alright. Cuz Leonard is a name, right? The Reid fight means nothing. He is shot. He's coming off a terrible beating in his last big fight. He's done. Froch needs to fight a fighter in his prime.

So your pretty much saying Froch is better than Joe C. Froch has no defense, has not beaten a guy in top 30, yet u have him beating a great fighter at 168 in 5 rounds. Keep dreaming. If what u wrote is not a joke u have no boxing knowledge.

Re: Mikkel Kessler VS Carl 'the Cobra' Froch
Yes, Froch is probably better than Calzaghe in my opinion and would beat him, smoke his boots...

Good sarcasm. Now tell me what u really think. Thats a joke right?

Re: Mikkel Kessler VS Carl 'the Cobra' Froch
Carl Crotch would get spanked by Kessler, simple as that. KTFO
-
Re: Mikkel Kessler VS Carl 'the Cobra' Froch
I see a picture in my mind of how froch would look after 1 round. The way Marvis Fraser looked after Mike Tyson got ahold of him. A slumped in the corner limp bag of bones.
-
Re: Mikkel Kessler VS Carl 'the Cobra' Froch
Kess is World Class and Froch has yet to prove that, Frochs still a level or 2 below.
This however doesn't mean that's the standard way of going about to choose a winner but it does tell you whos got the best chance at wining.
For me Kess wins this one mid to late rounds TKO.

Re: Mikkel Kessler VS Carl 'the Cobra' Froch
I really like Carl Froch but as Floyd says, for Kessler "It's gon' be easy work"

Froch is very very awkward, has dynamite in his fists and has one hell of a chin....
how anyone see's this is a blow out for Kessler is beyond me.

If the fight ever happens, which i don't think it will, id be willing to bet my entire Saddoboxing profile to the contrary.

Re: Mikkel Kessler VS Carl 'the Cobra' Froch
Kessler controls distance brilliantly. Froch keeps his hands low,he would get jabbed and countered to death!

Turns out his power wasn't overrated either huh Gamo?
I was one who said, he's not a one punch guy, but tbh if it was another fighter, tht didn have the chin of Calzaghe them uppercuts could have been lights out punches and those right straights were unreal too...

I would join hitmandonny here. Froch couldn't stop Kess. The guy has never been knocked down in his entire career including amateur. Kess would just take him apart.

Thanks bz....
Not long left now huh???!
Delighted for ya and hope you have a ball!!!!!
On the Froch/Kessler question...
Froch prides himself on counterpeunching with the power preventing a continued retaliation....
The fact is his power would not faze Kessler, he'd march forward use his own power and Froch would be forced to fight or flee. Froch drops the left as a distraction so as to throw his right, Kessler grabs this opportunity and uses THAT straight right
-
Re: Mikkel Kessler VS Carl 'the Cobra' Froch
ive a feeling Reid might beat Froch, yeah Reids way past it but he'll want to retire on a win
and im not convinced Froch is that focused , he seems more conserned with trying to get JC's
attention

Cheers man, I fly tomorrow morning.
I agree with you. I don't see how Froch has the power to hurt Kessler. Every time Joe dropped his hands Kessler pounced on him. The last round was tough as Joe wanted to showboat but Kess just went for the KO. If Froch drops the left, Kess will punish him, and Froch hasn't proven he can take a punch. Unfortunately, I'm unlikely to find out this or the Haye result until I get back on Monday.

Re: Mikkel Kessler VS Carl 'the Cobra' Froch
Carl Froch would do a lot better than most of you actually think. Hes growing into a stronger fighter and i do admit that he has been slow into challenging for the title. But he is going to be on the world scene before you know it. He will stop Reid and fight for a title very soon. After he gets the expereince of fighting on the higher level and his power will be awesome at the top. Hes experience and stamina will grow and he will push Kessler. I hope it doesnt happen too soon but when it does it will be explosive. If Froch catches anybody with a right uppercut they will wobble.
It will be a good fight and could go either way at this momment in time i favour Kessler, but in the near future im thinking Froch Ko.

I like Froch, i do, but he's 30. How much more can he grow at such an advanced age???
He's not a young prospect any more.

I notice that he is growing and improving as his fights progress definatly in his last 3 he has looked his best, way out of his fighters leagues!

I'll agree that he waas way out of his opponents league, but for me thats more of a reflection on the quality of the opposition.
For me Froch is a good boxer, world class? Certainly...but is it coincedental that his step up in class is coming at a time when Calzaghe is leaving SMW?...I think not.
Like i said he's a good boxer, but he's been a big fish in a small pond now for a long time without ever threatening breaking through into the mainstream.

He would fight JC if he could. In a way it does give him the opportunity to fight for a title get in some good defences and then challenge Kessler. I think Kessler needs to go after him or Lucian Bute to prove he is the best. I still believe jeff lacy is still in the equation and it will be intresting to see how this spans out. I hope Froch will get a good fight against some good fighters and i do believe he can stop them.

Lacy is definitely not to be ruled out!And Bute has displayed intent in his last number of fights.
I d say that Kessler has the advantage over them all after getting sucy good rounds in with Joe.

He is the best at 168 when JC leaves but hes greatest threats will be froch, Mundine and Bute will definatly give him a run for his money. I think the 168 devision has some awesome fights to happen.
And i hope Froch can come out on top ;D

We're agreeing again, but my point is that the rounds Kessler got in against Cal, were a lot more valuable than the ones which Lacy received. The value and expierience of being in the ring with the undisputed best SMW in the world is immeasurable. Kessler will have learned from this fight, things that Lacy, Bute and Froch have not or will not as Joe is unlikely to campaign at SMW again and certainly IMO not against these guys.
The reason Kessler is getting so much credit is because his performance against Calzaghe was very impressive, had Calzaghe's chin been a little less solid or his conditioning a little below par, that was Kesslers fight.
As for Mundine, i have'nt got a verdict on him just yet as i haven't seen too much of him.
