welcome back bRo!!!!!!!!!!!! :coolclick: we missed you.
well without thinking to much I'd give performance of the year to pavlik.
Nice to see you back! I thought you were banned. CC for the 'great comeback!' ;D ;) ;)
I'll go with Pavlik/Miranda. Kelly's win against Taylor was great, and we got a new world champion out of it, but the Miranda win answered alot of questions immediately about this Pavlik guy. It was shocking to alot of people, so I'd have to put that one in front of Taylor a bit just for shock value. Most said Miranda would crush Pavlik, and wasn't even close. After that the JT win wasn't as shocking, though I thought JT would pull it off, though it wasn't a shock when he didn't. JMO>
Thanks :coolclick: back and i say its pretty close between Calzaghe and Pavlik.Quote:

I say the great man Marco Antonio Barrera going out fighting TWO of the best fighters in the world and more than holding his own 8)
I'll go with Daisuke Naito ending the bullshit reign of Pongsaklek Wonjongkam
Well, after reading a freshly posted thread, I would have to give Pavlik another performance of the year. Pavlik/Sharp Glass ::**
Israel Vasquez in the second fight with Marquez.
Donaire over Vic?
The year isn't over yet so I am holding my vote...BTW CC Ice Good to see ya Back

I got Pavlik/Juan Diaz leading IMO the have both had great years....Cotto can upset them both with a win over Mosely tho. If Cotto wins you can write it in ink he will be fighter of the year.
The post isn't crazy...it's good for conversations sake...but I know the one you like seeing the most:Quote:

I agree only with it is early to pick and held out because for some reason I think Mosley or Cotto is going to get the nod...
I have to say this though...If I were picking fighter of the year I would go with Pavlik....He made easy work of one of the sports most feared punchers then Won the MW title by KOing Taylor....
There have been just too many good performances to choose TBH
Hard to pick, so far in the year.
3rd place: Juan Diaz over Julio Diaz
-Juan completely smothered Julio with volumes of punches. It didnt seem like Julio was trying to fight back. Juan was never really in any pressure during that fight, he was in complete control.
2nd place: Joe Calzaghe over Mikkel Kessler
-Joe was hit with some good shots and in trouble at times, but, still outworked and outlanded Kessler throughout the fight.
Performance of the Year: Kelly Pavlik over Jermaine Taylor
-Slugfest round 1, Dropped and almost out for the count in round 2, outlanding Taylor in his own game (jabs), and knocking Taylor senseless in the end.
Yeah...your'e right...& Paulie beat Cotto too.Quote:

I'm a big fan of Juan but Julio really wasn't an elite guy, a good solid fighter but not elite.
In no particular order
mijares over arce
kessler over andrade
calzaghe over kessler
hatton over castillo
pavlik over miranda and taylor
katsidis over earl
mosley over collazo
vasquez over marquez (2nd)
Calzaghe vs Kessler for me i thought that was a great show of skill form Calzaghe.
:o ;D ;D ;) ;) :D :)Quote:

1 and 2 are almost interchangable for me, as they were both career
defining performances and both were division clinchers.
I agree that Mijares over Arce was a great performance. Totally shut out a great fighter.
So far it's got to be Joe Calzaghe's performance in Wales v Kessler, not only the performance but the magnitude of it all and the pressure on Joe to deliver in his quest for acceptance as a true great, awesome ...
So the last round Kess needed a knockout to win, so does Joe run, no does he hell, he trades with Kess making sure he has allowed him every chance to beat him if good enough to do so,....brilliant, fair and goddam crazy....but the real deal none the less... :badass: :badass: :badass:
