Of course he is... :-\ Ya know, he has to go and taint a great fight. I don't think(no matter what) he could have fought a better fight. Maybe pick up the pace abit towards the end but thats about all he physically could have done. Joe is just to good. foot on the gas all the time. Kess just isn't used to fighting at a pace like that.Quote:

Kessler shouldnt be saying this now. Calzaghe had his number and that should be the final say. Kessler wants a rematch that isnt going to happen. No excuses.
How convinient of his hand injury excuse :)
If it was bad he should have pulled out.
CALZAGHE has boxed with badly damaged hands and still won bouts in which he's broken hands, but like a true champ he's fought through the pain.Quote:

If he has an injury it should have come out clearly before the fight..if he fought someone the caliber knowing he was hurt then that his bad, but to emphasize it now is dissappointing. It was a great fight he did real well why screw it up
:coolclick: Exactly. Well said!Quote:

Kess is just trying to drum up the rematch...& it aint happenin...not unless the Nard backs out...& then I say that Calzaghe still hunts a scalp @ a buck seventy five.
CC back wacko. I agree with all the quotes you posted too. I had the fight only a couple of rounds in favour of Joe, Kessler did himself proud. If Joe had a crap chin Kessler would have knocked him out early on as he caught Joe with some brilliant shots. He surprised me with his skill, accuracy and timing, I never imagined him tagging Joe with shots like that.Quote:

Right back at ya, good thoughts.Quote:

Honestly...I think that he tends to stretch that type of thing a bit...but that's just me thinking & guessing.Quote:

No need in that.
He's game & gives a good showing of himself...no need in the excuses.
the injury was documented several weeks before the match. Kessler was urged to pull out by his camp , yet he declined stating that he would be afraid the fight would never happen if it was postponed..
If his injury was bad enough that he needs to bring it up now then i wish he would've backed out or just postponed, i for one would rather wait and see them both go at it %100 or close it. Certain injuries could probably be overlooked but a hand injury ?? I'm still not convinced that with two brand new hands that he would have won,but if the fight was that good with an injury i'd love to see it without, but now joe is on to bigger and better things...
Well, Calzaghe has been criticised for pulling out of fights before when he was suffering with hand injuries, but coming into this fight Kessler was the man who had time to spare, and he could afford to put off the fight for another month or two more than Calzaghe could.Quote:

Why wouldn't there be a rematch? Kessler is still the next best out there at SM and i see no reason why Joe Balls would not give him one. The fight was not a shut out and Kessler gave him a solid fight. Kessler was after all the WBC and WBA champion at the time, a far better credentialed champ than JC.Quote:

Well if joe was a few years younger I'd love to see a rematch, but seeing as he is 35 and probably only has a couple fights left I would like him to go onto other fights. I really don't think kess' supposed hand injury played a significant role in the fight, joe is just a better all around fighter that beats kess on any given night I think if he came in like he did saturday night. Plus kess adamantly denied there being any hand injury before the fight, I'm sorry kess seems like a great guy and all but this just looks like a lame excuse to me.
I'm pretty sure it was injured. But it doesn't matter. He went in the ring with it. So as far as I'm concerned he was healthy.Quote:

But
Let us assume that the stories about Kessler's hand being indeed hurt were true. Why would Kessler deny them? Becuase he didn't want to let down his fans, give himself an excuse before the fight, cancel the fight, after he has called Joe out for so long, and because he didn't want Joe to think he had one up on him!
Kessler said he wasn't at his very best that night. Fair enough! I believe him. But it would be pointless trying to make an exuse for the loss - had he been at his very best he would not have beaten Joe that night...it would have been closer, but Joe would still have won...Kessler didn't make any excuses after the fight. However, the Danish media/his management might want to start these stories in order to make the Danes feel better. But I am 100% sure that this story isn't used by Mikkel as an excuse for the loss. It just wouldn't make sense and would be out of character
he lost already..........so what? it fawkn doesn't matter no more.

I don't get it.
That part didn't you understand ???Quote:

IN all fairness Kessles dont mention the injury on his own website and have not used the handproblem at an excuse. He says he lost fair and Calzaghe was the better man at the night. Even team Palle recognise the defeat. I agree it is more the danish media that runs the story.
Fact he had a injury 3 weeks before the fight he lost some sparring and what is all there is to it. Had he not been able to hit on the night then we could say the injury was sever, but he had no problems at the night. He said that in the latest interview
End of Story.
