do you think david haye has a good chin?
Im not too sure, mormeck was landing short right hands alll night, i predicted that they will catch up with him them rights.
in the fourth, a right hand skimmed him, and he started to wobble really badly, his legs went like jelly. if it was someone like mercer in there, they would have knocked him out brutally in that situation by the ropes (remember that ko?)
haye is blaming being too weight drained, thats why his legs went. the thing is, he came right back in mormecks face, but that was due to heart and determination, mormeck never finished him cos he seemed intimidated.
is it normal for a fighter to wobble when get hit with a grazing shot (like the judah dance) due to being drained? i dontknow.
cos in the past there have been fighters who have been really drained but they dont start wobbling like that, e.g james toney.
im just asking cos, his chin will seriously be tested against the heavyweights, just imagine him getting caught by david tua or wlad. :o :-\

I think his chin is ok i think the bigger problem is his suspect stamina.

Well Haye needs to sort out his left hand and how he leaves it so low, because it doesnt matter how much of a dodgy chin hes got he will be sent to sleep in the heavyweights with his left that low.

Re: do you think david haye has a good chin?
i think his chin is average
-
Re: do you think david haye has a good chin?
his legs went funny because he stood on the advertising hoarding which caused him to slip
but in answer to your question....i don't think his chin is very solid.
-
Re: do you think david haye has a good chin?
I don't think he has and now he is moving up to heavyweight he gotta learn to keep his hands up.
-
Re: do you think david haye has a good chin?
Might be ok at heavyweight without the weight drain.
Look how much stronger Cotto's chin looks at welter!
-
Re: do you think david haye has a good chin?
What seems to be the theme throughout the British fighters at the moment is their guard. The number of times I've yelled "Get your fu**ing hands up" over recent weeks whilst watching fighters is insane, Calzaghe, Froch, Haye, and I'm sure I might be yelling it at Hatton come December 8.
Even if he is only dipping his hands a little I will.
So the point I'm trying to make is that I don't think Haye's chin is the issue. It's his stamina and his guard...and I think him and Booth will be able to work on those with the move to heavyweight.
-
Re: do you think david haye has a good chin?
I wonder if Haye's chin looks worse than it is because he's been killing himself to make cruiserweight? Bob Arum says that's why Cotto's chin looked so dodgy at 140 but is so solid now.
If he keeps fighting with his left hand down against heavyweights we're definitely going to get empirical evidence of just how good his chin is. :)

Yeah good point mate, am I right in thinking he said he has to shed TWO stone to make cruiser?
-
Re: do you think david haye has a good chin?
The same might apply to his stamina too. I read somewhere Haye said he was only at 65-70% strength because he had to lose twenty-odd pounds of muscle and he was skin and bone at the weigh-in.
-
Re: do you think david haye has a good chin?
I think his worst attribute his his defence (particularly against the ropes).
I think he has an average chin but his stamina seems fine to me. Not seen or heard any problems with it since the Thompson fight.
His condition faired much better than i thought it would against Mormeck considering he's dropping 2 stone for cruiser fights (unlike Hatton, he already seems in great condition prior to the weight loss).

It's one thing to handle Mormeck's punch. Another to handle Klitschko's.

Re: do you think david haye has a good chin?
This may sound stupid but what is a stone like 12 pounds or no i have no clue.

I'd bet that Haye has a far better chin than Klitschko. I can't see Corrie Sanders KOing Haye in a round.

Yeh fair point.

Re: do you think david haye has a good chin?
...so are we doubting Haye's attributes at Heavy???
Personally I think his chin looked a little weak due to weight drain. You try loosing 2 stone in 10 weeks of training to fight the biggest fight of your career to date.
He will have a good chin at Heavy and his stamina will be fine. It has come a long way since Thompson and IMO he was as strong in the 6th and 7th as he was in the 1st.
He did a good job!
-
Re: do you think david haye has a good chin?
Haye's chin has been sus since his amatuer days.
I don't see the big deal. So far he's shown he goes over, yeah, but gets up and wins. Even in the Thompson fight he was stopped on his feet beckoning the Cat in.

David Haye loosing 2 stone I beleive someone is telling Porkys

28lbs?? Alot of boxers if not the majority loose about this much weight if not more, Hatton weighs about 175lbs before a training camp, so he loses around 35lbs, Calzaghe weighs between 190-200lbs, meaning he looses between 22-32lbs.
I saw a Jeff Lacy interview the other day saying he was 208lbs before he started his training camp thats a lose of 40lbs.
Haye struggles to make the 200lb mark, and in his heavyweight debut was weighing around 228lbs on fight night a increase of 28lbs?? So why is he telling porkies?

Re: do you think david haye has a good chin?

So are you saying that someone diddled the scales before his weigh-in for the fight with Mormeck?
-
Re: do you think david haye has a good chin?
No Im saying he doesnt weigth 2st over when fit, when he weigthin as a heavy theres ways of putting on weight. You dont loose 28lbs of muscle impossible.

Its obvious hes getting older and his body is finding it harder to shift them extra pounds which were not a problem when he was younger, why the hell would he go to Heavyweight if he didnt have to ??
The biggest fight in Britain is waiting for him with Enzo Mac, a good payday and another belt?

Okie dokie...I guess the streak of journalism in me had me itching for a scandal ;). I guess we'll find out just what his natural size and weight, at heavyweight, will be in a few months time.

im pretty sure ive read haye saying he trained for 17 weeks for the mormeck fight nd i dont think haye has a bad chin though time will give us that answer as he moves up to heavyweight nd fights someone descent that doesnt have one of the most paded records ive seen like bonin or wot ever his name was.

I dont think there many fighters at heavywieght that can handle klitchkos punches so i wouldnt deiscredit him to much if he was to get stopped by either of the brothers but i dont think ne of the other champions at that weight hit as hard as the klitchkos so i would give him a gd chance of winning a world title at that weight plus haye is heavy handed himself and u never no if his chin is more solid at that weight he could get to wlad b4 wlad gets to him as he has a suspect chin aswell.

Re: do you think david haye has a good chin?
He didnt have weight problems 4 years ago and before.

Re: do you think david haye has a good chin?
"I had to graft in a corrugated iron gym at my training camp in northern Cyprus in ridiculous heat and I lost 30lb of muscle.
"It was a lot of sacrifice but it was worth it to be undisputed champion, but now I'm ready to move up."

He also says he was only 65% of what he should have been in the fight

He might be something special at heavyweight. Let's face it, there isn't a lot of competition.

I imagine Haye would return Tua to the dealer fairly quickly with a few more dents in the bodywork saying that there were too many miles on the clock, and the handling wasn't what it once was.

 the mileage might be high, its all highway miles mate ! no worries.. worst thing Haye could do is dent that fine auto.. the Tuamobile aint got no safety devise or seatbelts , Haye likely to be splattered up on the dash !
cc Super Heavy enjoyed you post mate !
