How did anyone have Cotto winning the last round?
Id like to see the Judges scoring for this round, becasue possibly this was vital in the final decision. No way in hell he won that round imo. Looking back without watching the fight i will watch it again tomorrow, Mosley could well have done enough?? Opinions?

Re: How did anyone have Cotto winning the last round?
Easy he landed the more shots plus more accurate shots name me one punch Mosley landed that stood out ?? Cotto was on his toes and Mosley was chasing him but just because Cotto was backing away from Mosley doesn't mean he didn't win the round i hardly see any punches landed in 12th but from what i saw Cotto just won it.

Re: How did anyone have Cotto winning the last round?
look at both compubox #'s and the ebb and flow of the fight. The two fighters landed exactly 246 punches each. But Mosley landed 27 more power punches. And his were the more powerful of the two considering he was never clearly hurt and Cotto obviously was. Also Mosley FORCED Cotto out of his pressure style by obviously hurting him and making Cotto fight going backwards for the last 4 rounds of the fight. A FULL THIRD of the fight. So in the end Mosley forced his will upon Cotto and racked up more power punches. Sounds like the winner of a fight to me.

Re: How did anyone have Cotto winning the last round?
I had him winning the 12th, but Mosely could of easily won it if he did anything in that round. I'm a Cotto fan but I didn't like his style in that round. But he still did a little more than Mosely in that round, IMO

Mosley sqeeked out that round imo.

Re: How did anyone have Cotto winning the last round?
Mosley won the 12th. The fight could have gone either way but I feel Cotto racked up too many of the early rounds.
Will watch it again tomorrow.

Re: How did anyone have Cotto winning the last round?
Here's the way that I saw the last round :
Shane Mosley (49 fights, 44 wins, 4 losses, & 37 ko's) vs. Miguel Angel Cotto (30 fights with 25 ko's & no losses) Round 12: JUST LET IT END!!!!! BEAUTIFUL FIGHT!!!! BELL!! Mosley jabbing. Cotto to the body. Clench. Cotto fires his jab right back. Mosley walking Cotto down & eating Cotto’s jab. Right hand by Shane. Left hook fro Mmosley. Shane jabbing. Shane pushes Cotto to the ropes. Mosley slips & falls on the wet spot. Cotto eats a hook & peppers the body. Hook by Shane. Cotto misses with his body shot & fires a right. Left hook by Shane. Big right by Cotto. Jab from Shane. Cotto up stairs & Mosley to the body. Jab & a left hook from Cotto. Mosley jabbing. Cotto moving & keeping his distance. Notihgn happening. Cotto might have given that fight away with the last round…I gave it to Shane.
Round to Shane.
Cotto by Split Decision...or a draw...that was close.
He says that he thought that he had the fight in the bag & was fighting safe.
I aint buying that...something was up. While Cotto was not fighting with the same intensity that he was over the first 10 rounds...he was still fighting...not running. Personally I think that something was wrong with him...no one will convince me that he wasn't injured.

I agree with you on Cotto "not being right" he just seemed odd in the last 3 or 4 rounds. Just a style that I've never seen from him before. He never fights not giving that constant pressure.

Re: How did anyone have Cotto winning the last round?
so do you guys think it was a hurt hand? That seems consistent with the way the fight went in the later rounds.
-
Re: How did anyone have Cotto winning the last round?
I just think he was frusterated because he couldnt hurt Shane. Hes never had an opponent that would take his best punch and still be there throwing back. It was new territory for him.

Exactly, CC.. I thought Shane won that fight. He definetly took Cotto to a place he'd never been, and basically was the first opponent who was able to stand up to his attack and impose his will upon Cotto. By the end of that fight, he was the clear agressor, had better ring generalship, although it was close as far as clean punches. It just left me with the feeling that if the fight had gone much longer Shane would have really started to dominate, and over the second half of the fight it was evident that if anyone was getting stopped or KO'ed, it was Cotto. Great fight overall, I thought Mosley could have probably let his hands go and pressed the issue more in the late rounds, but I still thought he did just enough.

Re: How did anyone have Cotto winning the last round?
cotto moved back, everytime mosley moved toward him cotto landed and moved back again, he did more in the 12th then mosley did mid fight when he started running

Re: How did anyone have Cotto winning the last round?
I scored the last round for Mosely. I also scored the first round for Mosley, although now I cannot recall if that was justified.
My card looked like this
1. Mosley
2. Cotto
3. Mosley
4. Cotto
5. Cotto
6. Cotto
7. Cotto
8. Mosley
9. Mosley
10. Cotto
11. Cotto
12. Mosley
Cotto wins 7 rounds to 5

Re: How did anyone have Cotto winning the last round?
I had Cotto winning a close 115-113. Even though I wanted Sugar to win he frustrated me by not pulling the trigger enough on Cotto. He was coming into range and not letting the 1-2 go..just a whole lot of 1's and he was waiting way too long!

Re: How did anyone have Cotto winning the last round?
Oh last round was Mosely's on my card too..

Re: How did anyone have Cotto winning the last round?
i gave the last round to cotto

did you even watch the fight or are you going off what other people are saying???
look at their faces how could you possibly say that mosley hits harder, i dont think hardly anyone that watched the fight would say mosley landed the harder cleaner shots, except for biased fans like you... let me guess you were going for mosley ::**
cotto did his most damage when mosley was coming forward...
every since taylor-hopkins people always want to discredit a win and act like they really score fights better than professional boxing scores... and it just gets on my nerves, IF YOU FIGHTERS LOSE THEY LOSE, STOP MAKING UP ALL THE SCENERIOS WHERE IT TURNS OUT YOUr FIGHerT ALWAYS HAPPENS TO WIN...
IT IS ONE THING TO BE A FAN WITH AN OPINION, BUT TO ME IT IS DISREPCTFUL (AND CLASSLESS) TO ALWAYS BLAME THE SCORING WHEN YOUR GUY LOSES.... IT GETS OLD... YOU LOST GET OVER IT

Re: How did anyone have Cotto winning the last round?
I think I'm being pretty damn objective when I say that I feel Cotto lost the last round. However, IMO, he still won the fight.
Clearly so..... not controversially.
-
Re: How did anyone have Cotto winning the last round?
Cotto won...end of discussion.
Maybe if Shane didn't gas out inside 3 round sthings might have been different.
Everytime i watch Cotto i go away thinking 'so what' and i don't know why.
but he keeps winning and the look on concentration on his face has he robotically hunts you down is a joy to behold so good on him! His expression never changes and thats the sign on one mean MOFO

Re: How did anyone have Cotto winning the last round?
i had the last round even
it doesn't make a difference though because Cotto clearly won the fight.
also I'm not to convinced that Cotto was hurt in those later rounds (at least from a Mosley attack)
I've seen in plenty of fights where Miguel takes a round off and just boxes and moves around letting his opponent be the aggressor while he counters.
that's what it looked like to me except that he did it for 2-3 rounds.
Mosley is a strong fighter and he landed a couple of good body punches on Cotto so i don't blame Cotto for being a little tired for the end of the fight.
regardless he was still countering effectively while being backed up those final rounds

I'm not to convinced that Cotto was hurt in those later rounds (at least from a Mosley attack) Mike The Man
I'm with you on this. I never saw any evidence of him being hurt. I was watching the fight and suddenly all the commentators were saying he was hurt.
I thought Cotto was trying to get Mosley to come in close again. Still, Cotto was wheeling away for some reason... was it the cut lip? Who knows. He snapped out of it and that is all that matters to me. ;D

That's a great post!! Mosley was indeed the aggressor, but Cotto was landing as opposed to simply running. Even Steward was saying this repeatedly!! The last round was close as were rounds 9-12. Ten was definitely Shane's and the 11th was definitely Cotto's. Mosley's aggression was not effective. Cotto's was during the fight, that's why he won!!
